Congrats!
We are thrilled to welcome you to Colorado College.
We know you are one-of-a-kind and that’s why we’ve picked you to join our one-of-akind community. On our immersive, innovative Block Plan, you’ll learn intentionally, one class at a time. There is no other college like us in the world; we stand out. That’s different, we know, and that’s exactly why you belong here, too.
Over the coming years, you will be encouraged to challenge and expand upon what you already know, wrestle with new ideas, and share what you’ve learned. You’ll engage in spirited debates while in breakout sessions in Palmer Hall, have late-night conversations during study breaks in Tutt Library, and form lasting friendships with your peers during a retreat at the CC Cabin.
This welcome package is just the beginning of making CC your new home. We’re excited for you to join our community and we can’t wait to see you start the journey of becoming a lifelong learner.
Welcome to the Block
Not only better, but different.

Antiracism Commitment
Changing higher education for the better.
Breaking down entrenched, systemic barriers is at the heart of CC’s diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts. Every single person who walks onto our campus must feel that they belong, can contribute, and can reach their fullest potential without harm to who they are, how they see themselves, and the dreams they want to achieve. Colorado College actively opposes racism in all forms. This antiracism commitment is crucial to changing higher education and the world for the better and is a responsibility shared among the entire CC community.

Campus Life
Home is just around the block.
Residential Experience
Because we are a residential college, living on campus is a central part of the holistic learning experience that characterizes a liberal arts education. Our students live in an eclectic neighborhood of traditional residence halls, historic mansions, and modern apartments. However, it is the people who are central to creating the multiple “teachable moments” and learning opportunities that grow naturally out of the frequent interactions our residents have with one another and with our faculty and staff.
All first-year students are required to live in one of the traditional halls known as the “Big Three.”
Loomis Hall houses 262 students and is almost always buzzing with activity. There are four complete kitchens, a classroom, TV lounge, laundry facilities, and places to hang out with friends. The lounge in Loomis is great for community gatherings and is equipped with a fireplace and a piano. There is a classroom in the basement of Loomis that provides additional meeting and study space.
Mathias Hall houses 320 students. It is home to four Living and Learning Communities and has great facilities, such as a theatre-style TV lounge, sound-proof music practice room, and an outside bicycle storage area. The “Local Goods” convenience store and the basketball and sand volleyball courts right outside Mathias draw students from all over campus.
South Hall gives closer access to the activities on the east side of campus. South houses 303 students, a 24-hour Added-Quiet and Substance-Free wing, and offers a number of triple rooms where students live with two roommates rather than just one. The “Common Room” is used by the entire campus for meetings, presentations, and other group activities; sand volleyball courts located outside; and an enclosed bicycle storage area. There is a classroom, kitchen, laundry facilities, computer room, sun deck, and lounge area.
Campus Dining
Bon Appétit, our campus food service provider, makes all its food from scratch, provides meals to fit any dietary need, and purchases at least 20 percent of its ingredients from local farmers. We have several dining options on campus, including Rastall, an all-you-care-to-eat dining hall, The Preserve, Benjamin’s (known as Benji’s), and Susie B’s Café in Tutt Library.

Know
CC is the only institution of its kind in the Mountain Time Zone, giving you unparalleled access to the rich and unique environmental terrain, history, and culture of both the Rocky Mountains and the Southwest. CC’s Outdoor Education Program allows you to develop leadership skills, a sense of stewardship, and selfdiscovery in the outdoors.
Outdoor Education runs about 200 outdoor trips a year and over three dozen workshops and trainings (ranging from Climbing Safety to Whitewater Rescue to Outdoor Leadership Trainings). In addition, we lead the Priddy Experience (which takes place the week before classes begin), where we lead over 500 of our incoming students on service-based trips throughout the Southwest. And, if you want to join a skills clinic or trip, Outdoor Ed pledges inclusivity and provides financial aid.
As a CC student, you’ll have access to the Ahlberg Gear House which supplies every type of outdoor equipment you can imagine, the Bike and Ski Co-op, the Ritt Kellogg Climbing Gym, and the Gilmore Stabler (CC) Cabin. The Gear House is also a hub for trip planning, gear tuning, and gear repair.
Global Education & Field Study
Breathe deeply. Learn deeply.
The Center for Global Education and Field Study empowers and supports the Colorado College community to engage in intercultural, international, and experiential learning, and the Block Plan affords us the flexibility for such opportunities. We envision you’ll participate in multiple field experiences throughout your time here. CC faculty utilize the Block Plan in innovative ways to allow students to experience their studies in ways not possible in traditional settings. From studying sustainable economies at local farmers markets or geology at the Garden of the Gods Park, to studying the variety of religious traditions of the American Southwest, to taking in the great works at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art, to studying the classics while sailing the Mediterranean, CC classes travel far and wide. In previous years, CC professors and students took 266 field trips spanning the entire country.
CC is committed to every student having at least one study abroad or exciting field study opportunity. There are several funding resources so that your dream class or research idea is attainable.
Students choosing an off-campus study program have many options at Colorado College, whether it’s an individual block, a CC program, or a semester or year through a partner organization.
Individual blocks: Every year, Colorado College offers approximately 30 blocks off campus, including blocks taught in the summer. Each block is taught by a Colorado College professor.
Programs: CC offers seven of its own semester/half-semester programs: TREE Semester in Woodland Park, CC Chinese in Asia, CC in France, CC in Germany, CC in Latin America, CC in Italy, and CC Russian in Bishkek.
Colorado College maintains a carefully vetted, approved list of semester-long or year-long programs with partner organizations in a wide variety of domestic and international locations and academic disciplines that students may select from, including the Council on International Educational Exchange, Institute for Study Abroad, and Danish Institute for Study.
Colorado Springs 300+ days of sunshine
Colorado College is quite lucky to call Colorado Springs — Colorado’s second-largest city — our home. The Springs is located more than 6,000 feet above sea level and is the gateway to urban centers on the Front Range and to the foothills, peaks, and valleys of the Rocky Mountains.
With over 300 days of sunshine, you get a vibrant, natural environment and a culturally rich, modern city with endless opportunities to connect to the outdoors, our neighbors, and yourself.
Our 90-acre residential campus is nestled between downtown and the historic Old North End neighborhood, allowing students to take advantage of a comfortable urban setting. Worried about being able to get around without a car? Don’t be! CC students are eligible for a free membership in PikeRide, the city’s electric bike share program. Your membership gets you 90 minutes of free rides a day. You also can use your Gold Card for free and unlimited use of the local bus system, Mountain Metro, during the academic year.

Life After CC
A CC education provides you with critical engagement, thinking, and problem-solving skills for any path you choose after college. From scientists and politicians to artists and technology directors and anything and everything else, the CC experience helps you be a valuable contributor to any work you want to pursue.
CC’s Career Center sets students up for success through a variety of programs and events:
• The Edge Internship Program connects rising juniors and seniors with paid summer internships at companies like Cisco, Dolby, and Crocs.
• The Peace Corps Prep certificate program helps those interested in global service and leadership become competitive applicants for community-based fellowships like the Peace Corps.
• Tiger Trek trips, presented in partnership with the Office of Alumni and Family Relations, arranges student tours of major cities like San Francisco, Chicago, and London to connect with alumni and showcase different industries.
• Dynamic Half-Block courses help students build resumes and complement transcripts through non-credit enrichment courses such as graduate school (LSAT, MCAT, GRE, GMAT) test prep.
