This guide contains listings for Things To Do, Dining, Shopping and Events, and provides information about City initiatives and the elected leaders who put them in motion. But first, let’s get to know a little bit more about Centennial. Known as one of the safest cities in Colorado, Centennial encompasses nearly 30 square miles and has something for everyone, offering breathtaking views, a vast network of parks and open space, distinctive recreational activities, advanced business opportunities and familyfriendly neighborhoods. USA Today and Money Magazine have ranked Centennial among the “Best Places to Live” in America, and many who live here would agree. Residents of Centennial are served by the awardwinning Littleton Public Schools and Cherry Creek School District, which are among the top school districts in the state. The City has emerged as an innovative leader in successfully using publicprivate partnerships to provide highquality and cost-effective municipal services to the community and businesses. That includes contracting with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office for our law enforcement services, CH2M for public works and code enforcement, SAFEbuilt for building services, and Humane Society Pikes Peak Region for animial law enforcement services.

Recreation District and Arapahoe Park and Recreation District. In April 2012, the City officially opened Centennial Center Park. The park includes a splash pad filled with water features, a beautiful amphitheater, climbing walls, picnic shelters, walking paths, and educational playground equipment. Within a few years of opening, the park was named Best Playground in 5280’s “Top of the Town” issue and earned Macaroni Kid’s Gold Daisy Award for the Best Place for Outdoor Fun in 2016.

Centennial NEXT is a 12-18 month initiative that engages the public in defining a shared vision for the City between now and 2030.

Centennial FiberWorks

In December 2016, the implementation of the first phase of the City’s $5.7 million Fiber Master Plan began. This initial phase is being built underground and centrally, in the City, in conduit facilities, known as the Central Backbone. Additional phases will follow and be built over the next 12 to 24 months until ultimately the fiber backbone is deployed Citywide.

Fiber Commission to oversee Centennial FiberWorks, a program to implement the fiber backbone. This backbone will connect and complete the City’s underground infrastructure, connecting to key City sites and other community anchor institutions, such as schools and emergency services. This backbone will enable both existing and new broadband providers to tie into the new infrastructure with the goal of providing better and more competitive choices and services for consumers.

Advancements in technology have allowed us to have more fun than ever before. We have a multitude of interactive gaming centers for kids and adults. Take Topgolf as a prime example. It has managed to merge the intricacies of golf with gaming by implanting electronic devices inside golf balls, which enables players to tally scores for various games that add new and challenging elements to what would otherwise be a standard driving range. It makes for an experience everyone can get into. The same goes for SNĂ&#x2013;BAHN, an indoor skiing venue that uses revolving slopes of synthetic material to mimic the feel of snow. Technology also plays a major role in the modern movie-going experience at SouthGlenn Stadium 14, with state-of-the-art equipment pumping out the best sound yet and 3-D technology turning films into lifelike productions. But advancements have thankfully left some past times untouched. Ice skating at South Suburban Ice Arena, for example, looks much the same as it did 20-30 years ago. The average person spends a little more than an hour actually skiing or snowboarding when purchasing a full day lift ticket. The rest of the time is spent in lift lines, waiting for group members, and resting or eating on the mountain. The Centennial Active Shooter Response Training Center, which opened in April 2016, is dedicated to training teams of internal corporate personnel to effectively respond to the growing threat of active shooters and violent encounters in the workplace. They capture video of customers’ reactions to real-life scenarios that play out in the training center’s simulation room and then provide feedback.

17-MILE HOUSE FARM PARK 8181 S. Parker Rd Residents can step back in time during a visit to 17-Mile House, which served pioneers traveling on the Cherokee/Smoky Hill wagon trails in the 1860’s.
