Welcome to the second edition of the Centennial Community Guide.
Society Pikes Peak Region for animal law enforcement services.
This guide contains listings for Things To Do, Dining, Shopping and Events, and provides information about City initiatives and the elected leaders who put them in motion. But first, let’s get to know a little bit more about Centennial.
The City has been recognized for its extensive park system, much of which is overseen by the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District and Arapahoe Park and Recreation District.
Known as one of the safest cities in Colorado, Centennial encompasses nearly 30 square miles and has something for everyone, offering breathtaking views, a vast network of parks and open space, distinctive recreational activities, advanced business opportunities and family-friendly neighborhoods. USA Today and Money Magazine have ranked Centennial among the “Best Places to Live” in America, and many who live here would agree. Residents of Centennial are served by the award-winning Littleton Public Schools and Cherry Creek School District, which are among the top school districts in the state. The City has emerged as an innovative leader in successfully using public-private partnerships to provide high-quality and cost-effective municipal services to the community and businesses. That includes contracting with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office for our law enforcement services, CH2M (now Jacobs) for public works and code enforcement, SAFEbuilt for building services, and Humane
In April 2012, the City officially opened Centennial Center Park. The park includes a splash pad filled with water features, a beautiful amphitheater, climbing walls, picnic shelters, walking paths, and educational playground equipment. Within a few years of opening, the park was named Best Playground in 5280’s “Top of the Town” issue and earned Macaroni Kid’s Gold Daisy Award for the Best Park (2017). In addition to being recognized as one of the Best Places to Live, the City has received numerous other accolades, including a 2017 designation as one of the Best Places to Move/Open a Business from the Best of Colorado Business Choice Awards. The City continues to attract top employers, award-winning eateries, destination shops, and families with an eye for good living. It’s our hope that this guide helps direct residents to some of the places they’ve never visited and even ones they already have — those gathering places that make Centennial a unique and exciting City to call home.

HAPPENING IN THE CITY FIBER MASTER PLAN The implementation of the City’s $5.7-million Fiber Master Plan is underway. City Council created the Centennial Fiber Commission to oversee Centennial FiberWorks, the program administering the implementation of the City’s fiber backbone. This backbone will make fiber available to key City sites and other community anchor institutions, as well as residential neighborhoods. Crews have already completed construction on the Central Fiber Ring. Go to www.centennialco.gov/fiber for more information.
INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM MASTER PLAN The Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Master Plan will install travel time monitors, improve traffic signal detection, connect all traffic signals to the master system and implement upgrades to the existing master system software. The budget allotted for the ITS Master Plan is $1 million for 2018.
EAST-WEST TRAIL The City’s Open Space fund has $130,000 allocated for the design of the East-West Trail. This design will connect approximately 17 miles from the High Line Canal trail to Piney Creek Trail (and a continuous connection between E-470 and South Platte River Trails). Currently there is not a trail that connects the west and east sides of the City of Centennial. Design will take place in 2018. A construction timeline has not been determined.
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN (Centennial NEXT) The City has allocated $150,000 to develop a new comprehensive plan, Centennial NEXT, to help ensure the community’s values align with the City’s road map for development. This City-wide plan will promote quality of life, sense of community, economic vitality, supporting infrastructure and a responsible government that leaves a legacy for future generations. For more information, go to www.centennialco.gov/centennialnext.
SIDEWALK PROGRAM In 2018, $525,000 is included in the Capital Improvement Fund for the construction of new or missing sidewalk segments throughout the City. Specific locations will be identified based upon prioritized need and other available funding sources.

fun for
EVERYONE It’s easy to find entertainment in the City of Centennial. The only difficult part is choosing what to do. Advancements in technology have allowed us to have more fun than ever before. We have a multitude of interactive gaming centers for kids and adults. Take Topgolf as a prime example. It has managed to merge the intricacies of golf with gaming by implanting electronic devices inside golf balls, which enables players to tally scores for various games that add new and challenging elements to what would otherwise be a standard
driving range. It makes for an experience everyone can get into. The same goes for SNĂ–BAHN, an indoor skiing venue that uses revolving slopes of synthetic material to mimic the feel of snow. Beginners can find their ski legs in the same place that experts practice their turns during the offseason. Employees control the speed of the skiing surface and can change the angle to create a steeper slope. Technology also plays a major role in the modern movie-going experience at SouthGlenn Stadium 14, with
state-of-the-art equipment pumping out the best sound yet and 3-D technology turning films into lifelike productions. But advancements have thankfully left some past times untouched. Ice skating at South Suburban Ice Arena, for example, looks much the same as it did 20-30 years ago. And Uncorked Kitchen, which has its customers collaborate to create great food in a fun environment, is all about the shared experience between friends, spouses, siblings or anyone else who wants to give it a try.

SNÖBAHN
6955 S. York St. #404 303-872-8494 snobahn.com Skiing and snowboarding are no different than any other sport; repetition leads to muscle memory which allows for further advancement. The average person spends a little more than an hour actually skiing or snowboarding when purchasing a full day lift ticket. The rest of the time is spent in lift lines, waiting for group members, and resting or eating on the mountain. For someone who skis less than 20 days a year, the ability to improve under this format is slow, inconsistent and extremely challenging. A typical hour at SNÖBAHN is much different. One half-hour of continuous skiing or snowboarding on the revolving slopes at the average speed is the equivalent of skiing the distance of over 20,000 vertical feet. In addition, each of the revolving slopes has a mirror at the base providing immediate feedback on technique and positioning. Young or old, beginner or advanced, firsttimer or monthly member, participant or spectator – the facilities at SNÖBAHN were designed for everyone.

The flavors of India, China, Mexico, Italy, Vietnam and America, among many others, blend into a tasty dining scene that allows hungry residents to try something new every
week if they want to. Some are capitalizing on the pho craze (pronounced ‘fuh,’ it’s a hearty broth and rice noodle dish with a choice of meat, herbs and vegetables) with scrumptious results. And sushi continues to be popular; the City is home to several Asian restaurants that serve delicious and artistic dishes.
Then there is traditional American fare from places like Hodsons Bar and Grill, Doug’s Day Diner and Growler USA, which serves dozens of craft beers along with food like crispy tots, beef brisket sliders, the Pilsner Chicken Avocado Club and, of course, beer cheese soup. So get out there, explore Centennial and expand your palate!

Back in 1983, First Watch’s two founders wanted to be able to play golf in the afternoon and have dinner with their young families every night so they decided to open a restaurant that closed at 2:30 every day and specialized in Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch. They named it “First Watch” - a nautical term relating to the first shift of the day.

EXCITE If there was any doubt as to Centennial’s reputation as a great place to shop, that was put to rest when Yelp ranked us as the Fifth Most Customer-Friendly City in America. There is no shortage of outlets, boutiques, shops, galleries and department stores to choose from in Centennial. There is the Streets at SouthGlenn, an urban lifestyle center with a multitude of top stores,
restaurants and a plaza that features water fountains and community concerts, and provides a beautiful backdrop for a casual summer stroll. Other areas of the City provide excitement for shoppers, too. The state’s only IKEA store continues to offer the latest furnishings and home accessories near County Line Road and Chester Street. And it’s only a short distance from another hub of activity, the Centennial Promenade,
which includes Cost Plus World Market, Guitar Center, and Golf Galaxy among many other stores. Of course, Centennial’s neighborhood market centers are full of little gems — those shops that are just waiting to be discovered or patronized again and again by loyal customers. So what are you waiting for? Strap on your shopping shoes and explore the inviting aisles of Centennial’s stores.

They are specialists in what they do: a chair builder just builds chairs, a table builder just builds tables. They focus on one thing and do it to the best of their abilities. They take pride in their work and the beautiful furniture they produce. They know it goes in someone’s home for a lifetime and feel a responsibility to make sure it provides a lifetime of aesthetic pleasure and worry-free function.
The boutique has been in the Streets at SouthGlenn for seven years, and was previously known as Irresistibles. They are owned and operated by an individual owner. The highly-trained staff is ready to help customers with all their wardrobe needs. We are available to answer any questions or help customers put together a whole look.
