So many things to do: Every sport is readily available, every type music-LIVE, Professional Sports, Art Museums of every sort. I moved here one day before my first birthday so essentially all my life, with the exception of the time I spent attending the University of Colorado at Boulder. What do you like most about it? What is the most challenging part of what you do? Educating clients about the true nature of the Metro Denver real estate market. The national news portrays doom and gloom when it comes to selling a home, but the truth is that our market is stable and improving. Homes in good condition that are priced correctly are going under contract in just days of being listed; sellers need to know that just because they read about foreclosures in the news, doesn’t mean that they are as rampant as indicated. Centennial is doing especially well. Recent rankings such as being listed as one of

Much of our family live nearby, so big family gatherings are also a regular part of our lives. What is one tip you have for someone looking to sell a house? When listing your home, it is a beauty contest. First impressions are made through your listing photos and buying decisions are then made by the presentation (i.e. staging) of your home. Do everything you can to make your home as clean, welcoming and well maintained as possible. What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy a house? With inventory being down, quality homes are in high demand. If you are considering buying a home, make sure you are prepared to act quickly – be prequalified by a lender and stay on top of the market so that you can be one of the first to see a home of interest. Chances are, if it’s a great home, you may be in competition with other buyers, so being ready to strike first will give you an advantage.
What is the most unusual thing you’ve encountered while working in Real Estate? I once “auditioned” without knowing it. I had shown a home to some clients, and several months later was contacted by the sellers of that property to help them buy their new home. They told me that they had audio recorded every agent who had done a showing, and were impressed by how I educated my clients and by my knowledge of the area. It was unexpected and unorthodox, but it did lead to a great working relationship and to ultimately helping them find a home.
How long have you worked in Real Estate? I have been in the real estate industry in various roles since 1999, but have been a practicing broker since 2004. Since that time, I have built The Steller Group within Keller Williams Realty, a team of talented individuals who offer nearly 50 years of combined real estate experience.

In 1982, I moved to Summit County, Colorado. After living in Texas for 24 years, I thought I had died and gone to heaven! What do you like most about it? From the very beginning, I enjoyed everything this amazing state had to offer. I have always been an outdoorsmen and was delighted when I discovered there were four real seasons! In Texas, there are only 2 seasons … summer and the rainy season. How long have you worked in Real Estate? In 1985, I started a real estate company called Colorado Real Estate Services, Inc. We were a contracting company servicing the mortgage industry. At our peak during the late 80’s, we had over 100 employees and sub-contractors. In 1994, I became a licensed real estate bro-
What is your specialty and what does that mean for the people you work with? I specialize in Douglas and Elbert county real estate. I really enjoy working on deals with acreage involved because of the challenges of water rights to mineral rights and zoning to development. After 29 years of doing business, and over 1,500 successful closings, the learning curve is not nearly as steep as it used to be. Just about anyone can list a property, however, in today’s environment it takes a skilled and experienced Realtor to get the transaction closed. I feel my vast experience, as well as 1,200 hours of classroom time, gives my clients a distinct advantage. What is the most challenging part of what you do? Buying and selling a home can be one of the most stressful experiences in a person’s life. This stress can bring out the best or worst in just about anyone. I have learned by managing everyone’s expectations, the process be-
expectations for my clients, cooperating brokers, lenders and even myself.
What do you most enjoy doing when you are not working? Spending time with family and friends. During the winter, I love skiing, hunting and snowmobiling. During the summer, I enjoy golf, boating and 4-wheeling. All of these activities are within an hour’s drive. How cool is that? What is one tip you have for someone looking to sell a house? Make sure you hire a qualified Realtor who understands and specializes in your market place, everything from staging, proper pricing, advertising and negotiations. Hire a proven specialist. What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy a house? Again, use a qualified Realtor that is very familiar with the area in which you are interested. A well-networked Realtor will have more than just the MLS to work with. From public trustee auctions to fellow realtor pocket listings, a buyer does not want to be limited to just the listings on MLS. What is the most unusual thing you’ve encountered while working in Real Estate? Unfortunately – some of the most unusual things are too inappropriate for print! Haha! I met the love of my life in the course of negotiating a real estate transaction. I don’t know if that qualifies as the most unusual, but it certainly qualifies as the most fortunate.

When not working on cars or out for a pleasure drive, I do a daily duty of feeding the wild birds. My backyard is a birding paradise plus the variety of bees is amazing.

What is one tip you have for someone looking to sell a house? A clean home sells best. Carpet and paint go a long way to a quick sale. Listen to your Realtor and price it right. If it is not selling make your price adjustments early on so you and your family can move.
house? Get yourself to a good lender and get approved. Know what you can afford before you go looking. Nothing is more disappointing than falling in love with a home you end up not being able to buy. What is the most unusual thing you’ve encountered while working in Real Estate? I had a buyer under contract on a HUD home. Just before we were set to close, two uncleared liens showed up and HUD’s title company would not clear the liens and wanted to take the property back and remove it from the market. I had to have another title company who I do business with work with me to fix everything so we could close. Only took an extra month but got it done. Buyers were thrilled.
What is your specialty and what does that mean for the people you work with? I specialize in residential real estate both working with buyers and sellers and have extensive experience in normal sales, short sales and estate properties.
