COMMUNITY: DRIVING THE MEMBER EXPERIENCE
BY VIRGINIA HARMAN GENERAL MANAGER

For those of you who attended the Mountain Parks Electric annual meeting on May 13, thanks for joining us. I enjoyed meeting so many new, friendly faces. Our theme this year was “What Does Mountain Parks Mean to Me?” Over the past several months, the Mountain Parks team compiled video clips of members just like you from across the service territory. In each video, MPE members described what MPE meant to them. We shared a compilation of all these videos at the annual meeting and it quickly became clear that, for many members, MPE means “community.” Scholarships, 5th Quarter events and energy rebates all resonate with members who appreciate when we get involved. To build on the success of community engagement, we have made a few changes and will introduce new member events this year.
One important way that MPE is linked to the community is through giving. We offer sponsorships, assistance through Operation Round Up, and previously through the Education Fund. Recently, our board made the decision to rework the Education Fund. This fund, now called the Unclaimed Capital Credit Fund, is available to assist a wide variety of causes and is accessible to our members via a quick and easy online application form at mpei.com/donation-request. The board will make decisions on donation requests three times each year: March, July, and November. Please remember to get your application submitted at least 21 days prior to the March, July, or November board meeting for it to be considered. Other MPE community support options, such as sponsorships and Operation Round Up, may also be accessed through application forms on our website at mpei.com.
Another way our members experience MPE in the community is through events. Each year, we host and participate in more than 20 events. To ensure that we get the most member engagement from our events calendar, this year we are mixing things up a bit.
First, we will add a series of events this fall to meet with members at a favorite local coffee shop in our co-op communities. The goal of these meetings is to connect with you where you are, listen to you, and answer any questions you might have about MPE. Of course, we will bring a couple EVs with us for ride and drive opportunities. The schedule for these coffee shop events will be released later this summer.
Second, we are changing 5th Quarter events in Granby. We will keep this longstanding tradition in place, and will expand it to include other sporting events to support more student athletes and their families. Details about these events also will be available later this summer.
Finally, MPE will host a member appreciation event in October as part of our celebration of National Co-op Month.
These exciting changes mean that you may not see us at the same events we have been at in the past. While we know this may be disappointing, we invite you to join us at our new events. The updated outreach programs will help us engage with you all in more meaningful ways. I hope to see you at an MPE event near you.
