Summer is right around the corner! I hope you and you facility are ready to take on the season! Below are some updates on what’s going on with the Colorado PGA.

Congratulations to the team of Perry Holmes, Rob Grall and Matt Schalk for their score of 16 under par during the Maui Jim Pro-Pro-Pro Championship held at Fossil Trace Golf Club. Congratulations also goes out to the teams of Kyle Voska & Ari Papadopoulos, Caine Fitzgerald & Mike Northern and Graham Cliff & Eric Billinger for tying for 1st Place with a 36 hole total score of 87 in the modified stableford format at the Myran Craig Pro-Pro Championship hosted by The Colorado Golf Club.

The Colorado PGA Reach Invitational will be hosted at The Colorado Golf Club on Monday, June 27th. The Reach Invitational is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Colorado PGA Section. Colorado Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony It was an honor to have the opportunity to attend the 2016 Colorado Golf Hall of Fame banquet hosted at Cherry Hills Country Club. Our very own Ann Finke, PGA Teaching Professional at Country Club of Colorado became the first female member of the Colorado PGA Section to be inducted into the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame. Jim Hajek, PGA Head Golf Professional at Fossil Trace Golf Club was honored as the Golf Person of the Year for 2015. Congratulations to both of them!!

Turning Stone has built a tradition of hosting premier championships and we anticipate in 2016, our centennial year, we will have another memorable chapter written by our best playing PGA Professionals.” Atunyote Golf Club, a Tom Fazio design that opened for play in 2004, was named after the Oneida word for “eagle.” The longest of Turning Stone Resort’s three championship courses, at 7,315 yards, Atunyote also is the site of the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge.

The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship — a collaboration between the PGA of America, KPMG and the LPGA Tour — continues the rich tradition of the LPGA Championship. Broadcast in partnership with NBC and Golf Channel, the Championship offers a purse among the highest in women’s golf. The event combines an annual major golf championship with the KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit and an ongoing charitable initiative – all focused on the development, advancement, and empowerment of women on and off the golf course. PGA Professional National Championship Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y., home to three of the country’s premier public/resort courses, will be the site of the 49th PGA Professional National Championship in 2016, marking a return visit of the showcase event for PGA Professionals to Central New York. The 312-player Championship will be conducted June 26-29, 2016. The Championship, previously hosted by Turning Stone Resort in 2006, will be contested on the Atunyote Golf Club and the Shenendoah Golf Club. Atunyote (pronounced “uh-DUNE-yo”), which will host the final 36 holes of the Championship, was the site of the former Turning Stone Resort Championship (2007-10) on the PGA Tour. Both courses have hosted former PGA Regional Professional and Section Championships. Turning Stone also boasts a third championship course, Kaluhyat Golf Club.

You provide an outlet for people to build relationships, you provide entertainment, and you provide a joyful experience on God’s most beautiful gardens. When you think about it, the game of golf brings people together for enjoyment and when you play on any of the wonderful golf courses we have in the Colorado Section, you are experiencing some pretty beautiful places.

Our Foundation, Colorado PGA REACH, was created to support our Colorado PGA Members in bringing more people to the game of golf so they too can experience the difference that golf can make in their lives. This year the number of students who will

have been introduced to the game of golf through our Golf in Schools Program will exceed over 50,000, all at absolutely no cost to the students or schools, and we will have over 100 Teams and over 1,000 Kids participating in PGA Junior League. We continue to work with hundreds of Veterans each year through our PGA HOPE Program using Golf as a rehabilitation tool. We provide Growth of the Grants to our PGA Members, College Scholarships to the children and grandchildren of our PGA Members, College Scholarships to students enrolled in our University of Colorado Colorado Springs PGM Program, and work with the United States Olympic Training Center where minorities students participate in the FLAME Program (Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere). Over the past several weeks our Colorado PGA Members through Colorado PGA REACH have been engaged in numerous “Golf in Schools” field trips, participated in our Fort Carson “IVY” Pro AM, awarded over $25,000 in Growth of the Game Grants, and just completed our time together with the students of United States Olympic Committee FLAME program. I

Coming up for Colorado PGA REACH will be our Invitational at Colorado Golf Club on June 27th. This event is our largest fund-raiser of the year. This year we will also have the privilege of awarding a combat-wounded veteran a mortgage free home in conjunction with the Military Warriors Support Foundation. My thanks to all of you who will be participating and all of you who are able to donate a signature bottle of wine from your facility for our wine auction. Additionally, thank you to Allen Walters and Jon Rizzi from Colorado Avid Golfer Magazine. Through their annual Corporate Cup at Red Sky Golf Club, we raised just over $28,000 for our Golf in Schools Program!

PGA of America Scholarships Announced Five Member Affiliated Students Earn Honors T

he PGA of America recently selected its 2016 National PGA Scholarship Section winners and we are thrilled to announce that five Colorado PGA member-affiliated students were selected to receive scholarships. The PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship Program was established in 1986 to provide college scholarships for graduating high school seniors and college students who are the children or grandchildren of a PGA member. It is an academic based scholarship program that takes into account the following criteria depending on the class level of the student: High School Graduating Senior - High School cumulative grade point average (GPA) must be at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale - ACT and/or SAT test scores - Extracurricular activities

nn Finke and Jim Hajek were both honored by the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame at their annual induction dinner on May 14, 2016 at Cherry Hills Country Club. Finke was inducted into the Hall of Fame while Hajek was named Golf Person of the Year. Finke is the Director of Instruction at the Country Club of Colorado. The first female member of the Colorado PGA, Finke was awarded 2010 PGA of America Junior Golf Leader. She has spent the last 31 years at the club where she’s given over 36,000 lessons, 16,000 of which to juniors alone. Hajek, the Head Professional at Fossil Trace Golf Club, was named 2015 PGA of America Public Merchandiser of the Year. He was also awarded the Colorado PGA Public Merchandiser of the Year in 2014 and this past year was named the Charles “Vic” Kline Award Winner. Colorado Golf Hall of Fame Honors Finke, Hajek and Others

Stalder, a Colorado resident for the better part of the past two decades, won the 1982 Masters and counted 22 victories in his PGA Tour career. Mike and Terri Knode earned the Distinguished Service Award. They founded the Western Colorado Golf Foundation, a longtime beneficiary of the Rocky Mountain Open which has awarded many educational scholarships to junior golfers from the Western Slope over the years. The Knodes and the Western Colorado Golf Foundation owned the Rocky Mountain Open before the tournament was sold in 2014. Mike Knode serves on the CGA Board of Governors and has also been president for the CGA’s Western Chapter. McClintock played a key role in the acquisition of the Evans Scholars house for caddies at the University of Colorado in the late 1960s and in the CGA’s Eisenhower Scholarship linking up with the Western Golf Association’s Evans Scholarship. McClintock also served on the CGA Board of Governors when the CGA started to greatly expand its reach and services.

Colorado PGA REACH From My Eyes

f there is just one thing I wish I could tell each of the Colorado Section PGA professionals in person, it is how proud I am to be associated with Colorado PGA Reach, and how proud I am of the good works done by our member professionals. And while I am only a single representative among our board of trustees writing this article and sharing some of my personal experiences and beliefs, I know that all the members of our PGA REACH board of trustees feel equally as passionate. I am a lifetime golfer. I started as a seven year old junior golfer playing par three courses. With the encouragement of my parents, and under the tutelage of a number of PGA professionals, my game matured to the point that I was reasonably competitive in Colorado junior tournaments and high school golf. I kept playing the game through college (though not playing competitively in college). In the critical interview that started my career in trading crude oil, the executive who ended up hiring me spent more than half the interview discussing his golf game and inquiring about mine, rather than asking about my technical qualifications, or outlining the details of the job description. Golf is such a shared passion for so many people. We all know this to be true, and I think that this knowledge plays a significant role in why we all want to find ways to get more people involved in the game. The three pillars of Colorado PGA Reach are therefore dear to my heart. I am such a believer in what golf can do for an individual, and I will always believe that being introduced to golf at a young age is akin to making investments early in life. In investing, the sooner you invest, the greater the returns. That is why reaching out to young golfers via our Youth Development pillar is so important. It is not just that we get to see the game we all love continue to remain vital, it is the vital good the game can do for the young players; not just now but for many years into their future. For very similar reasons, our Diversity and Inclusion pillar is of utmost importance. It isnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t just reaching people at a young age; it is reaching out to people who

might not otherwise find an introduction to the game. I really believe that there are so many people whose lives would be enriched through golf that just never really get the introduction to the game. Significantly, the members of our board of trustees represent the importance of this pillar. The diverse backgrounds and impressive successes of our trustees speaks to the belief that we all have about how important it is to diversify the demographics of the game, and to find ways to better include men, women, boys and girls of all backgrounds in our wonderful sport. Each of our three pillars in Colorado PGA Reach is so well founded. The Supporting Our Military pillar is obviously also of tremendous importance. Though I am not a veteran myself, nor am I from a military family, I have always felt a passion for and a tremendous pride in the men and women of our military. A number of the members of our board of trustees have direct military experiences, and have keen insights as to the good the game can do for both active military members and veterans. I know I speak for all of our trustees when I say we are proud to be of service to the good work that is done by our PGA section members. We really hope to be able leverage our diverse skills, experiences and passion to continue to build on all of the wonderful work you all do.

he National Alliance for Accessible Golf (Alliance) is offering grant funds in 2016 for inclusive golf programs for people with disabilities. Program grantees have up to one year from the original date of the grant to use the funds and complete their inclusive program. The grants may be used to defray core program costs and support programs to help golfers with disabilities; both learn and transition into playing the game. The Alliance is continuing to accept grant applications on a rolling basis in 2016 until funding is exhausted. There are no specific deadlines for grant submissions and the Alliance Grants Committee will review applications on a rolling basis every 30 days. Since 2010, the Alliance has granted more than $693,000 to inclusive golf programs for people with disabilities. Through ongoing support from the United States Golf Association, the Alliance has expanded its efforts to provide financial assistance and resources to help make the game of golf more accessible to people with disabilities.

Each month a select few Colorado PGA Professionals are elected to the Quarter Century Club of the PGA of America. In this section we will highlight those PGA Professionals who have been members of the Association for 25 years to get to know them a little better.

Joe Pinson, PGA Head Professional Overland Park Golf Course Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Denver. What was your first introduction to the game of golf? I grew up 3 houses down from the #1 fairway at Overland Park G.C. Dad was always there, and I was always tagging along. My first memory with golf was being at the practice area with him. I was about 4 years old and I grabbed his club. He showed me how to hold it, but I wanted to swing the club left handed. He corrected me, but a short time later I was swinging left handed. Another correction, which again didn't take. The third time, he grabbed me by the shoulders and firmly said "I said this way" (I left out the expletive). I laugh about that all the time now. I throw left handed, kick left footed, bowl left handed, but play golf right handed. Years later I asked him why he did that and he said left handed clubs were difficult to get at that time. Anyway, after that day I was hooked. Why did you choose to become a PGA Golf Professional? Growing up, Tom Romolo was big influence on me. He was the Head Golf Professional at Overland Park as I grew up. I remember him giving me my first real set of golf clubs. I was able to work and play golf for free growing up. Another big influence on me was Gene Torres (coach). Gene won several state opens (including the Colorado Open) and had an INCREDIBLE short game. A buddy of mine was playing for him in college and mentioned me to him. During a road trip, coach went way out of his way to come see a punk high school kid that didn't have much going for him as far as college was concerned. We went to the same practice range at Overland, dropped about 20 golf balls down and asked him what he wanted me to hit. He said 7 iron. I hit two shots and he said that was enough and offered me a scholarship. I ended up going to New Mexico Highlands in Las Vegas N.M. I went there blind, never going there to check out the town or the school. I remember the first

time driving into town and I just thought "what in the hell did I get myself into". I spent 4 years there and wouldn't change a thing! Anyway, I spent a lot of hours with coach. I watched him play, practice, teach, give clinics and the respect he commanded and received. He had me out there doing some of the same things he was doing, making me practice and think of the game in a completely different way. Professionally, he was my biggest influence and why I chose to become a PGA Professional. What makes you most proud about being a PGA Professional? There are many proud moments. Playing, getting through the booklets and becoming a PGA member, becoming a Head Golf Professional, having the opportunity to go back to the course where it all started for me and run that facility. But to me its the small things that get me excited. Being able to take an absolute beginner, work with them for about 20 minutes and watching their eyes light up when they hit their first SOLID golf shot. That is just fun! What golf facilities have you been employed at and in what capacity? I've spent almost my entire career with the City of Denver. Working for concessionaires, I started as an apprentice at Kennedy G.C. in 1987 and 88. Helping people enjoy the game! Getting a text from a member that they just posted their best score ever is an awesome feeling! Simply put, I love helping people enjoy the game they love!

My father took me to City Park Golf Course in Denver and at 12 years old I began caddying at Denver Country Club.

I grew up in Urbandale, Iowa a suburb of Des Moines. What was your first introduction to the game of golf? Growing up my Dad was part owner of an 18 hole par 3 golf course and IHL Hockey team. Nine holes were lighted along with a lighted driving range and mini golf course. Why did you choose to become a PGA Golf Professional? Golf is my passion from the beginning and it is an honor to be a PGA Member. Played Junior A hockey but golf is what I really wanted to do. What makes you most proud about being a PGA Professional? I love it when customers come and ask question about golf, rules or even a quick tip on their swing the smile on their face is a great feeling. What golf facilities have you been employed at and in what capacity? I started at Aurora Hills Golf Course in 1981 as an Assistant and retired in 2001 as the head professional. From 2001 to 2006, I was at Valley Country Club as an Assistant, from 2006 to 2010, I was the General Manager and Head Golf Professional at Deer Creek golf Club at Meadow Ranch. Continued from page 20... Overland. In 1998 I was hired by the City of Denver and worked at City Park G.C. for about a year and a half. I was transferred to Willis Case G.C. in 99 and worked there until Dec. of 2013. I then had the opportunity to transfer to Overland Park where I currently reside. Hopefully it can all come full circle and retire at the course where it all started. What do you feel is the most meaningful contribution to the game of golf you have made? Being able to help someone who you know may be going down the wrong path and bringing them to the golf course by offering them a job, a free lesson or whatever it takes to put them on the right path. I've done this with people from all walks of life. It pains me to know about the few lives that did not go well, but it is extremely gratifying to see the successes. I guess no matter how hard you try, you win some and you lose some.

What hobbies do you have outside of golf? Hobbies include reading, taking long walks with my wife (especially up and around Red Rocks Amphitheater), bowling and most importantly spending as much time as possible with my grandchildren!

If you could have a dream foursome, who would it be and why? Dream foursome: My dream foursome would be Jack Nicklaus, Bobby Jones and Ben Hogan. But my favorite times are when I play with fellow professionals Jim Hajek, Randy Meyers, Todd Marley, Kirk Mease and Jeff Freeberry. We've all come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter how well or how poorly we play, as long as we get about 3 belly laughs in per round. That in itself is a GREAT round!

The duo fired an impressive six-under-par 66 during the Four Ball Stroke Play event. Coming in second was West Chapter President and Director of Golf for the City of Grand Junction, Mike Mendelson who partnered with Apprentice Head Professional from Rifle Creek Golf Course Kyle Daniell to post a five-under-par 67.

JGAC Season Underway, Spring Golf in Schools Recap and Much More! Golf in Schools Spring Session Wraps Up

JGAC Season Underway

As the school year comes to an end, our golf season is gearing up for another successful year. As school wraps up, PGA Professionals across the section are also conducting their Golf In Schools programs to help fuel participation for their local junior golf camps for the summer. Thus far, almost two thousand students have passed through a Golf In Schools program this spring and we are not even half way through! In this initiative to grow the game, we are taking golf to people who are brand new and leaving them wanting Holly Champion, PGA to enjoy more.

The Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado was finally able to host its inaugural event at Todd Creek Golf Club after two previous events were canceled due to weather. Through the high winds and cold temperatures 67 boys and 19 girls participated in the 36 hole stroke play event. Griffin Barela of Lakewood and Hailey Schalk of Erie will go down as the winners of the first-ever Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado tournaments. Field Trips - The Key to Golf in Schools A key part of the Golf In Schools experience for the students is the field trip to the golf facility. On Friday April 15, 2016 Skyview Elementary had the privilege of enjoying a shining example of a great field trip at Thorncreek Golf Course in Thornton, CO. What made this day so great was the educational aspect of the trip. Head Golf Professional and Board of Directors member, Chris Swinhart took a station of students and walked them around the facility so that they could learn about the golf course procedures, etiquette, physiology, and much more. From where to put your bag around the green to what are all the different heights of grass are called, Chris gave the students a critical introduction to the golf course through his eyes as a PGA Professional.

Welcome to Our New Interns As we prepare for the busiest season ever in regards to Junior Golf at the Colorado PGA, we recently welcomed two interns to the staff. Mikayla Tatman joined the staff as a six-month intern while Riggs Winz joined us for a three-month internship. Some of you have had the opportunity to meet both interns as they have learned the ropes at some of our member events. For those of you who have not had the chance, take a moment to meet our new interns! Meet Mikayla Tatman Six Month Intern Mikayla is a Colorado native, born in Denver and raised in Longmont. She grew up playing a number of sports but eventually fell in love with the game of golf at the age of 13. After a successful junior golf career she went on to play Division I college golf for Colorado State University where she was a 3 time WGC Academic All-American. Mikayla graduated in 2016 with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Mikayla has a deep passion

for growing the game of golf and, in particular, helping junior golfers reach their goals, while also finding their own passion and love for the game. Meet Riggs Winz Three Month Intern Riggs is a Colorado native, raised in Littleton, CO. He grew up playing junior golf at all levels in Colorado. He is a former honor caddie at Columbine Country Club, a student of Phillip Nelson, PGA and a Varsity letterman for Coach Nicki Poulos, PGA at Heritage High School. Riggs most recently played for the Skyhawaks and Coach Guy Begay at Ft. Lewis College in Durango, CO and will transfer to the University of Alabama in the fall.

Another invaluable education experience was the STEM session instructed by the Superintendent for Thorncreek. The Science, Technology, Engineering and Math station was geared toward showing the elementary students the science behind maintaining a golf course. Fixing ball markes, hopping on a greens mower, and cutting a cup were all about getting the students excited about STEM.

he poor spring weather has certainly knocked down the chance of wild fires in Colorado this year, there is another fire taking off across the state. That fire is PGA Jr League Golf!

In 2014 there were 8 teams and 2 leagues in the state with approximately 80 kids taking part in the program. In 2015 those numbers jumped to 54 teams, 12 leagues and approximately 640 kids involved in the program. For the 2016 season, there are 106 teams signed up, in 22 leagues and more than 1060 kids joining in the fun! Colorado National Golf Club Hosts First Drive, Chip and Putt C

olorado National Golf Club and hosted the first Drive, Chip, and Putt Local Qualifying Championships for the Colorado PGA on June 6, 2016. One hundred and eight players signed up for the event.

The players were competing for a chance to advance to the Drive, Chip, and Putt Sub-Regional Championship scheduled for the end of the summer at CommonGround Golf Course. There are four age groups in both the boys and girls divisions, with three players from each age group moving on to the Sub-Regional Championship.

Use Drive, Chip & Putt to Your Advantage I

n support of the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship, the Colorado PGA will host 6 regional qualifiers and one sub-regional qualifier this year. These are outstanding opportunities for junior golfers to develop their skills or to test the skills that they have spent hours honing at your facility. But, with only 6 qualifiers, how can you leverage the Drive Chip and Putt Championship even if youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re not hosting a qualifier this year? The answer is not only simple, but a plan has been developed for you to implement. We are happy to introduce the Drive Chip and Putt Instruction Playbook. This program, first developed right here in the Colorado Section, has been introduced nationally and has been refined into the playbook you now have access to. This program allows you to develop, promote, and leverage a Drive Chip and Putt prep program that will help you provide structure and goal setting within your junior golf program. By utilizing the program contained within, you will help your junior golfers prepare for the DCP competition through fun, interactive, and engaging learning opportunities that are wrapped around the core skill set of the game of golf. Your entire junior program could very well be

developed around and focused on this program.

This program is proof that you need not host a DCP qualifier to leverage the exposure that Augusta National, the PGA of America and the USGA provide through the Drive Chip and Putt Championship. here are a number of Colorado PGA Professionals who have their name etched on the Colorado Senior Open trophy. While many played well and made a strong showing, 2016 turned out to be an off year for our member professionals at the newly re-named CoBank Colorado Senior Open.

Colorado PGA Professionals Finish Strong at CoBank Colorado Senior Open

In the end, Doug Wherry, Director of Instruction at Jakeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Academy finished as the low Colorado PGA Professional after posting a t6 finish at three-under-par 213. Pat Reidy, PGA Professional from Inverness Golf Club posted a strong first round by firing a fourunder-par 68 that left him tied for third place. Reidy ended up posting a t8 finish after two-under-par 214. Tying Reidy was Red Sky Golf Club Director of Golf Jeff Hanson. Former Champion Doug Rohrbaugh wrapped up the strong play by Colorado PGA Professionals. The Ironbridge Golf Club Head Professional posted a one-under-par 215 in his attempt to become the first two-time champion of the event.

At the end of the tournament, John Ross of Raleigh, North Carolina took home the championship. The 64year old fired an ten-under-par 206 to beat Loveland, Colorado native Chris Starkjohann by two strokes. In third place was former PGA Tour winner Keith Clearwater who entered the event at the last minute. In the Amateur event, local Footjoy Sales Representative Tom Krystyn took home the honors by the narrowest of margins. Krystyn finished at four-over-par 220 to beat out Denver Broncos V.P. and General Manager John Elway and Colorado Golf Hall of Fame member Kent Moore. Following the conclusion of play, Colorado PGA Honorary Member and longtime Rules Official Rich Langston was awarded the Robert M. Kirchner Award for contributing greatly to amateur golf, professional golf, and/or tournament golf in the state of Colorado. The award is named for the founder of the Colorado Open. Langston was serving as the Chief Rules Official for the event and will also return for the Colorado PGA Professional Championship in the same capactiy.

Three Teams Tie at Myran Craig Pro-Pro Championship T

hree teams tied for the championship at the 2016 Myran Craig Pro-Pro Championship. While all three teams posted 87 points in the Stableford event, all three found a different way to post their impressive rounds. The first team to post 87 points was host PGA Head Professional Graham Cliff and his partner, University of Denver Head Coach Erik Billinger. “I think the home course advantage for both of us is felt in where to miss your shots,” noted Cliff following the round. “Given the tough conditions, there is always a side of the green to miss out here that gives you the best opportunity to get up and down.” As Cliff noted, conditions were tough in this early Spring championship. A cool, blustery morning when players were competing in Four Ball stroke play led to some difficult playing conditions. As the day went on and the storm system producing the unfavorable conditions passed to the east, the day took a turn for the better. By the end of the round, conditions were downright perfect. “The weather was fine for us, we were fortunate to get off to a good start in both rounds and because of that we were hoping for our sake that the weather stayed windy.” Also posting 87 points was Kyle Voska, PGA Assistant Professional at The Links Golf Course in Highlands Ranch who partnered with Ari Papadopolous, Head Professional at the Norman Course at Red Sky Golf Club.

While Cliff and Billinger used home course advantage to post their strong finish, Kyle and Ari used their drivers to take advantage of the difficult conditions. “The wind was very difficult. Fortunately, Ari and I can both drive the ball very low with the driver,” noted Voska after the round. “That helped us hit most of the fairways. From the fairways, you have a chance to score. We didn’t have to take make than a bogey all day.” The third team to post 87 wasn’t much of a surprise based on their previous playing history. Caine Fitzgerald, PGA Assistant Professional at Meadow Hills Golf Course and Mike Northern, PGA Life Member, both past Dow Finsterwald Players of the Year and PGA Championship participants, were the last group to post 87 points. The duo took a conservative approach on some holes but knew they had to take advantage of some of the scoring holes as well. “Having played the course more over the last few years we have definitely learned the holes you can be aggressive on, so you had to take advantage of the par 5’s, 8 and 14,” Fitzgerald said after the event. “The rest of the course requires a lot of patience and sometimes conservative lines. In our first round, Mike pitched in on #1 (their 4th hole of the day) for eagle which was a big boost, as well as playing the first 18 without a bogey, as birdies were tough to come by.”

n a cold, damp and often times brutal Colorado spring day, Perry Holmes, Rob Grall and Matt Schalk, all of Colorado National Golf Club, posted a victory in the Maui Jim Pro-Pro-Pro Championship presented by Masek Golf Cars, Antigua and the PGA Tour. “We got off to a fast start being six-under-par after our first four holes,” noted Grall, an Assistant Professional at the club. “That got us in the groove quick and we kept that momentum going.” That quick start was certainly key to their team firing an impressive 16-under-par 56. Two thirds of the way through the round, rain turned the course from difficult to downright unplayable. Play was suspended for the better part of two hours before players could return to the course and when they did, it was a different ball game. In addition to the soggy conditions, players returned to temperatures in the low 40’s. “The rain delay helped us out as we were able to get more dry towels and (Perry) Holmes was able to get

warm and when we resumed play his putter got hot.” Finishing in second place during the event was the team of Mike Northern, PGA Life Member, Joe Carlton, PGA Head Professional at Legacy Ridge Golf Course and Eric Bradley, PGA Assistant Professional at Eagle Ranch Golf Club. The trio fire a fourteen-under-par 58. In third place was a group of five teams that all fired thirteen-under-par 59. Thank you for all of the sponsors of the Pro-Pro-Pro Championship.
