JUST FOR SUBSCRIBERS

elcome to my second season as Music Director of the Colorado Symphony! We are so excited about the new line-up of programs, star performers, variety and quality of concerts next season. I have invited some of my oldest and closest friends to come and play with us. They also happen to be some of the greatest performers in the world today! Yefim Bronfman, Pinchas Zukerman, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Anne Akiko Meyers and Gil Shaham are coming, and we’ll see welcome returns by keyboard geniuses Olga Kern, Natasha Paremski, Jeffrey Biegel and William Wolfram. I am thrilled to be conducting some of the greatest music ever written: Beethoven's 9th, Tchaikovsky's 5th, Rachmaninoff's 2nd and Mahler's 5th symphonies.

MASTERWORKS SOLOISTS Jeffrey Biegel Gil Shaham Olga Kern Pinchas Zukerman Jeffrey Kahane Simone Dinnerstein Bil Jackson William Wolfram Anne Akiko Meyers Natasha Paremski Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg

There will be plenty of vocal fireworks too, including a semi-staged performance of Puccini's dramatic Tosca and a season closing blast through Walton’s epic Belshazzar’s Feast (I won a Grammy® for a recording of this one!). This season we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of our world-famous chorus with a special tribute concert in October, and they will also have their customary high profile throughout the season. On the Pops side, we have a scintillating lineup. Highlights include Bobby McFerrin singing and conducting Gershwin, Everything’s Coming Up Broadway!, Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore and a screening of the movie West Side Story accompanied live by the Colorado Symphony! We are reprising the hugely popular Symphonic Tribute to Comic Con concert, and the orchestra will play along in a celebration of Warner Bros. famous Animaniacs cartoons. Musically speaking, there’s nothing our incredible orchestra can’t do. Please join us for the 2014/15 season where you will be thrilled by the sheer brilliance and virtuosity of Colorado's flagship performing arts institution—the Colorado Symphony! Come let us uplift your souls and fill your hearts with the greatest music ever written.

Announcing the Colorado Symphony 2014/15 season! The Colorado Symphony’s 2014/15 season includes performances by the world’s greatest soloists, with works from a richly diverse spectrum of symphonic music. Under the guidance of Music Director Andrew Litton, program content this season varies in style, scope and sound, and all share one very important element: your Colorado Symphony, the eighty men and women who represent the apex of excellence in live music.

The Colorado Symphony Chorus Celebrates 30 Years This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Colorado Symphony Chorus, an all-volunteer body widely regarded as the one of the finest choral ensembles in the country. On October 18, experience the 30th Anniversary Chorus Gala, a one-night-only celebration of the chorus’ vocal mastery as well as the vision of director Duain Wolfe. You’ll also enjoy the Chorus next season with a sublime performance of Mozart’s Requiem conducted by Pinchas Zukerman, and Puccini’s Tosca, one of the greatest operas, conducted by Andrew Litton.

Colorado Symphony Musicians Front and Center Your Colorado Symphony boasts some of the finest performers in the country. Throughout the 2014/15 season, our resident musicians take solo turns that showcase their artistry. Silver Ainomäe makes his solo Masterworks debut with a performance of Dvorák’s beautiful Cello Concerto in B minor, Concertmaster Yumi Hwang-Williams and Principal Flute Brook Ferguson join guest pianist Simone Dinnerstein on Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D Major and Principal Oboe, Peter Cooper, returns to the solo spotlight on Down the River of Time by American composer Eric Ewazen. And the Colorado Symphony performs the world premiere of Principal Timpanist and composer William Hill’s The Raven, a symphonic tribute to Edgar Allan Poe’s masterpiece.

We look forward to seeing you at Boettcher Concert Hall in 2014/15.
