Colorado Symphony Every season, the Colorado Symphony serves more than 300,000 people from all walks of life, performing a range of musical styles, from traditional to contemporary. Recognized as an incubator of innovation, creativity, and excellence, the Colorado Symphony continually expands its reach through education, outreach, and programming. The Colorado Symphony performs more than 150 concerts annually at Boettcher Concert Hall in downtown Denver and across Colorado. Led by Music Director, Brett Mitchell, the Colorado Symphony is home to eighty full-time musicians, representing more than a dozen nations, and regularly welcomes the most celebrated artists from the world of symphonic music and beyond. The Colorado Symphony partners with the state’s leading musical artists, cultural organizations, corporations, foundations, sports teams, and individuals to expose diverse audiences to the transformative power of music.
Colorado Symphony 2019 Ball The Originators The Originators formed when a group of CEO’s from The Moderators came together with a group of studio musicians to create a premier local cover band. The band plays all classic rock cover tunes from the 70’s through current day. The band performs regularly and has played at charity functions, local restaurant patios, bars, private parties, weddings, and other unique special occasions. Its set lists are all dancing and party tunes designed to create high energy between the band and its audience.
ED HASELDEN, Guitar, Vocals Ed Haselden is the founder of The Originators. Previously, Ed was a founding member of The Moderators and played with that band for 8 years. By day, Ed is in the commercial real estate development business and is the Chairman of Haselden Construction, a top 10 general contracting firm in Colorado. By night, Ed manages the Originators along with playing guitar and providing background vocals. Ed began playing guitar in the 4th grade and is a Denver Native. Most days you’ll find Ed spending more time on band business than real estate and construction.
SPENCER TOWNSHEND HUGHES, Lead Vocals Spencer has been involved in the Denver music scene for the last three years, fronting the four-piece Denver rock outfit, The Hollow. With a BA in musical theater performance from the University of Northern Colorado, Spencer has worked tirelessly at the art of performing and looks forward to sharing the stage with his new INSANELY talented family in The Originators. A huge thank you to Josh and Ed for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of this incredible project.
LONDON MCELVAINE, Lead Vocals London McElvaine is a dynamic and vibrant vocalist who hails from sunny Denver, Colorado. While earning her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Jazz Performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, she performed extensively with numerous Chicago musicians in the jazz, funk, and pop idioms. You can catch her around the Denver scene gettin’ down with such groups as the Originators.
JOHNNY LEE WILSON, Bass Johnny hails from Columbus, Ohio, and came to the Colorado music scene about fifteen years ago, playing for and managing several area bands since. In addition to cranking out party jams with The Originators, he also wears several hats with the original music project Renewed. Johnny is a U.S. military vet and retired public school teacher. He is married to Deana and has three grown boys and a black Great Dane named Jet.
DICK CAPEK, Keyboards Dick has been a physician for over 20 years and is currently a Medical Director for Cigna Health Care in Denver. Dick grew up in Colorado. He has played piano and organ in several local garage bands including one with Morrison (that would be Dave) before joining the Moderators. He is now prescribing a dose of rock and roll along with your blood pressure medication.
TREVOR MARIOTTI, Drums Colorado native, Trevor Mariotti, has been a staple in the state’s music scene for 15 years. He has toured nationally with Colorado artists, Something Underground, and Tracksuit Wedding, and is a proud Sabian cymbals endorser. For over 14 years Trevor has worked with several area high schools, ranging from outdoor and indoor marching percussion groups, orchestral and concert percussion sections, and Jazz band drummers.
CARL FITCH, Trumpet JOSH SKELTON, Guitar Josh grew up in Indianapolis and began his musical career as a live and studio musician for numerous music legends. He moved to Denver and founded Red Turtle Music. Josh works with musicians and song writers of all ages and skill levels to help them achieve their musical goals.
Carl grew up playing jazz and classical trumpet in Denver. His first band and life-long buddies are still together as Dotsero, and they still let him sit in from time to time. He went to the University of Denver on a music scholarship and before settling down to a family and career he did a recital tour in Europe and studied trumpet in Paris. His day job is the CEO of the business and technology consulting firm, Statêra, but most evenings and weekends are spent playing trumpet.
