For further information about the trust please visit the website: www.thekalishertrust.org Red Lion Chambers is one of the leading criminal sets in the UK. We are able to provide expert advice and advocacy in respect of every kind of fraud, crime and regulatory matter and have experience working with lawyers and clients both here and in overseas jurisdictions. In addition individuals and teams within this large set have developed niche practices in a number of quasi-criminal and regulatory fields. Our members have considerable expertise in such areas as coroners’ inquests, public inquiries, professional discipline in medicine, finance, sport, courts martial, health and safety, fire law, environmental regulation and tax/VAT tribunals. “Because Red Lion Chambers has that strength and depth, if you cannot obtain your barrister of choice, there is always someone of equal stature and ability to then take on the case.” (Chambers and Partners)
“Clients consistently praise the quality of the representation by counsel and also the quality of administration by the clerks” (The Legal 500) “One of the prestige sets” (Chambers and Partners)
“The clerks are very helpful and always do their very best to accommodate us at short notice. They work closely with the members, so they are very good at knowing who you will like and who you will want.” (Chambers and Partners)
A
WARD-WINNING ARTIST RICHARD CLARE has been fascinated by landscapes from a very early age. Most
weekends were spent with a sketchbook in hand walking the moors and dales of the Peak District and Yorkshire, the nearest counties to his hometown of Sheffield, and later throughout The British Isles. Since those early days of discovery, Richard worked for over 15 years in the graphics industry before becoming a full-time artist in 1998. His painting technique is based more upon memory recollection supported by sketches and photographs, depending on his choice of subject. “Walking in the landscape, soaking up the atmosphere is just as important as the final act of painting. I am not particularly interested in lifelike realism as I want the viewer to complete the picture in their own minds” says Richard. Many artists continue to inspire him, especially The French Impressionists, Abstract Expressionists and

The Scottish Colourists, all these art movements conveyed shape and form via colour and bold mark making. In addition to vibrant colour, light quality plays a huge part in his work, just one of the reasons why he made the bold decision to move to Italy in 2007. In December 2013 he moved back to the area of Saddleworth where he has had a studio for over 12 years. However, he makes several trips a year back to Barga, a hilltop medieval town in Northern Tuscany and the Italian/French Riviera. “Strong use of colour always plays a major role in my work, it is what links my wide subject matter. From cityscapes to the landscapes of northern England, Italy and France, whether plein air painting or studio-based work. Even adding colour where there is none, I want to create my own colourful world in my paintings, they cheer people up on a dull day, even my colour-blindness adds another dimension!” says Richard. He has received media attention in national magazines, won several awards, including finalist in a competition organised by The International Artist magazine, where over 3000 entries were received from all over the world. His paintings are snapped up by enthusiastic collectors throughout Britain, Europe and as far as USA and Australia. 2
