good trouble park arch 3016 - fall 2020

on the edge of the connection between the beltline and ponce city market in atlanta lie’s the good trouble park. an homage to the late john lewis, this project serves as a dual theater focused on good trouble and healing. these spaces are meant to serve as protest and gathering spaces for the community to come together and express greivances, heal together, and work towards a future with them in mind.

frankly put, this project gentrified a neighborhood with a program that it doesn’t want or need. located on the site of the first black owned office building and nested within the most historic and prosperous district for black persons in atlanta. we were tasked to design a for profit aerial-yoga studio. shameful. texture mapping of our corner lot condition

perch

arch 2854 - spring 2020 given a set of three sites and challenged to respond to these ‘liminal landscapes’ we had to create pavillions and spaces that allowed for both public and private reflections on ones self and surroundings. this first site overhangs a perch and makes use of the local wind conditions and tuned pipes to generate both sound and seperation between self and surroundings

water

arch 2854 - spring 2020 the second site we were given resided on the bank of a body of water. in contrast to the perch site, this site focused on the creation of a space for the individual to reflect. a monolithic concrete structure floats gently over the edge of the water and has only one entrance in and out. a channel in the base of this ‘tomb’ brings the water under the feet of the inhabitant and allows them to be immersed by the sounds of the water and dive deeper into one’s self.

flaneur in the city arch 2854 - spring 2020

located in an abandoned lot in the bustling city, we were tasked with creating a space for the flaneur, the leisured watcher, of the city. focusing on the idea of oasis in the city, this intervention used a specially shaped tunnel that causes infinite reverberations of the noises around themselves until they reach the elevated point of arrival in the center. insulated with sound dampening meshes and plants, the center of the space allows for intentional and transparent rest in the middle of chaos.

the essentials of architecture fall 2018 the foundation for this project was creating an outdoor meditative space for a single

user that expanded upon the iterations of previous practice in creating and defining space through expressions of boundaries, circulation, and sensation.

phase one - elements and givens

the premise of this design series was to take a primitively formed box and iterate it to meet a multitude of programmatic necessities. phase one through four tasked us with defining space and cultivating it, leading to a final “box that was intended to be both elegant and useful.

phase two - physical and ephemeral

phase three - conceptual and organizational

media and modeling 1 spring 2019 media and modelling 1 focused on introducing students to softwares they we would come to use frequently throughout our time as students and becoming proficient in these skills and softwares, culminating in the final project shown here.
