A $50 application fee is required. This career training program will give you the tools necessary to succeed in the field of welding. Follow a curriculum to become a certified welder per American Welding Society Sense Level II Advanced Welder Certification. These real world techniques combined with practical handson training will give you valuable skills in the workforce. Learn shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding and flux cored arc welding. This program is Pell Grant and loan eligible. (635 hours)

Walk the path of local chefs while experiencing a unique learning environment. Manage service operations, learn food safety guidelines, gain a strong command of sensory techniques to master flavor profiles and how they interact with each other. Train on industry current equipment with quality tools and fine ingredients. Experience what the real culinary world in Mid-Missouri is like through internships in local restaurants. Culinary workers are employed at fine dining, campus dining/cafeterias, catering facilities, chain restaurants, grocery stores and bakeries. Classroom instruction in basic culinary skills include: sanitation, safety, professional knife skills, culinary math and basic cooking methods combined with scratch preparation, hospitality, equipment and product identification. GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION Classes will meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-9:30 pm. Additionally, there will be 100 hours of on-the-job training via internships with local food service providers at various times throughout the program. Additional cost will be incurred by the student for attire and equipment. All students who complete 300 hours of curriculum and 100 internship hours will receive the Columbia Area Career Center Culinary Academy Certificate. DIY Welding: Bring Your Own Project

Picture yourself repairing those stairs, gates and other lingering projects while adding your own personal touch. This course teaches the important issues to be considered when preparing for non-professional use of welding for repair of home items, personal expression and for pleasure. You will learn the very basics of stick welding on mild steel. Then you will learn more advanced welding techniques and begin MIG welding. (3 Sessions)

Take the first step towards a career in HVAC. Learn the basic practices and principles of heating, ventilation and air conditioning operation, maintenance and controls for residential-sized systems. Both R-22 and R-410A systems are used in the shop sessions. EPA 608 exam material is also reviewed in this class. Tuition includes textbook, lab fees and a one-time test fee. To work on stationary air conditioners and refrigeration systems, you must be certified under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act. The Clean Air Act requires that all persons who maintain, service, repair or dispose of appliances that contain regulated refrigerants be certified in proper refrigerant handling techniques. Prepare for the EPA Handlers exam with three sessions devoted to intensive review. The online exam (EPA Core, Type I, Type II and Type III) will be administered the fourth session. (4 Sessions)

Maintenance Mechanic Prepare for employment or enhance your knowledge as a maintenance mechanic. Maintenance workers carry out maintenance on building’s plumbing, electrical, air-conditioning and heating (HVAC) systems. To do so requires a strong knowledge of these systems and how they work. Learn the body of rules, ideas and principals for electricity, heating and air conditioning and plumbing. The class is divided into three modules. An individual may enroll in the comprehensive course or select specific modules. Sign up for all 3 Maintenance Mechanic Modules at the discounted rate of $929. Intro to Pipefitting and Installation

Instructor: Mike Staab Columbia Area Career Center, TTC/104 9/23-12/10 T/W 6-9PM $1149 #14FT100 Learn the basic practices and principles of pipefitting on steel, copper and plastic pipe. Students will be introduced to different types of pipe such as threaded and welded steel, hard and soft copper and many various plastic pipes. Fittings for different types of pipes will also be introduced and explained. Functions, normal operations and some troubleshooting for pipefitting and different types of pumps and regulators will also be covered. Finally, students will learn the proper techniques and procedures for welding pipe, welding flanges to the pipe to create a bolted connection and to install a pressure activated mechanical connection. This class is handson and requires some physical endurance. (24 Sessions)
