Full-time Post-Secondary students may qualify to work off campus without a work permit. If you meet the eligibility criteria, your study permit will allow you to work up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions and full-time between semesters. FATI SANOGO

“Find out what matters most to you and the reason why you started doing this since the beginning, and always go back to it whenever you feel like giving up. The beginning will be tough, and you might feel afraid or confused at some point. It’s all right! We have all been there. Question everything that confuses you, be willing to take up challenges, and do not mind the change. You’ll see one day that every effort you put out today is totally worth it.”

Rwanda Secondary and University Transfer Graduate Former Student Services Assistant at Columbia College 2nd year SFU Arts Student

I preferred taking my high school courses at Columbia College rather than back home because CC classes were more interesting and allowed me to improve my English. When I moved on to the University Transfer program I was more prepared to take on university-level courses.

“As a Student Services Assistant, I answered questions from students. I also entered data and helped plan events in Student Services. I loved being around people! I’ve developed important skills which will help me in my future career.”

Columbia College is the place to be if you want to receive a great education while being on the path to university. The college has created a competitive and challenging learning environment where I’ve learned to make a difference.

“My advice for students is to go out of your lane. Get involved. Meet people. Go out there and volunteer. Get a job somewhere. Make friends that you wouldn’t expect to become friends with, because you never know who you’re going to meet, and you’ll meet awesome friends if you go out of your comfort zone.”

“Don’t forget that you are also living in the most wonderful time of your life – enjoy it! Join clubs, attend events, go out with friends, buy some samosas from the Entrepreneur Club, apply to be an Orientation Leader, win yourself a place on the Honor Roll, be part of the CC community – they all add up to the depth of your exclusive experience here in Columbia College.”
