Academic Excellence Awards Ms. Joni Lenig Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs The Academic Excellence Award criteria include degree-seeking graduates (students receiving certificates only are not eligible), that have submitted an Intent to Graduate by the due date for participating in the graduation ceremony, have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours in residence at Columbia State by the end of fall semester, and have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) including learning support of 3.9 to 4.0 at the end of fall semester. Jo. L. Hutton Prize The Jo L. Hutton Prize was established in 1991 to honor Mr. Jo L. Hutton, the founder of Middle Tennessee Bank. The Jo L. Hutton Prize criteria include a student who has graduated from a Maury County High School, earned the highest grade point average while attending Columbia State Community College, and will be transferring into a baccalaureate degree program at a university. This year’s Jo. L. Hutton Prize recipient is: Evan R. Hildner Zion Christian Academy
The Carolyn Allred/Lewis Moore Outstanding Student Award Carolyn Allred-Winnett and Lewis E. Moore were two original faculty members at Columbia State Community College, Ms. Allred-Winnett in Math and Dr. Moore in History and Political Science. Together with their colleagues from Columbia State’s inaugural 1966-1967 academic year, they established and maintained a standard of excellence for teaching, scholarship, and service that continues today. Nominations for this award are submitted by faculty. Criteria include outstanding academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and service to Columbia State and the community.
