Don’t Overlook the Franklin County Public Defender’s Office BY DREW GOLUB

You will complete your law school career in what seems like the blink of an eye. It is imperative that you are proactive in seeking and obtaining a placement or employment with one of the many firms or law offices around Columbus. Externships are a prime opportunity for personal growth and possible post-graduation employment. Furthermore, externships present an exceptional opportunity to step outside of your comfort zone. I took the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone when I applied for an externship at the Franklin County Public Defender’s Office. I do not regret that decision in the least.

Even if you do not see yourself practicing criminal defense, externing at the Franklin County Public Defender’s Office is not a placement that should be overlooked. I urge everyone to spend at least one semester clerking at the Franklin County Public Defender’s Office.
