At Big Room Bar’s Prince Tribute on May 21, we expect to hear major hits and obscure gems from the late music icon. But which Prince made which songs? The Purple One told Oprah that he had “another person” inside of him, sex undetermined, and created music as different characters or under different aliases. Several are listed below (there are probably others we don’t know about yet).
Camille
You know that Prince is playing Camille when you hear a sped-up vocal on songs such as “U Got the Look,” “Housequake” and the stunning “If I Was Your Girlfriend” — a complex examination of gender roles. Legend has it Prince considered creating an entire album and a film based on the character.
Symbol (a.k.a. the artiSt Formerly known aS PrinCe)
Jamie Starr
Prince, the mastermind behind the Time and Vanity 6 music groups, tried to hide his participation by crediting production to Jamie Starr or the Starr Company on the bands’ records.
alexander nevermind
Prince also used pseudonyms to pen songs for artists outside of his Minneapolis empire. “Sugar Walls,” a 1984 hit by pop artist Sheena Easton, is credited to Alexander Nevermind.
ChriStoPher
Pop-rock band the Bangles also benefitted from Prince’s songwriting, landing a number two hit in 1986 with “Manic Monday,” credited to Christopher.
Joey CoCo
Did you know that Prince also wrote country music? “You’re My Love,” a track on Kenny Rogers’ 1986 album
ColumbusAlive.com | thursday, May 19, 2016
Prince’s most well-known alias is the unpronounceable symbol, which allowed him to release music independently
from Warner Bros. Not knowing exactly what to call him, the media came up with titles such as the Artist Formerly Known as Prince, the Artist and — derisively — Symbolina.

Gemini
In the liner notes for the 1989 Batman soundtrack, Prince’s songs are listed according to character. “Batdance,” for example, includes lead vocals by the Joker, Vicki Vale, Bruce Wayne, Batman and Gemini — obviously not a cast member, but named for Prince’s astrological sign. It’s a fitting representation for a man of many dualities.

eynoldsburg chef Sean Chatman spent his senior year of high school taking care of his older sister, who was battling cancer. “Every day after school I had to come feed her, rub her back. She was literally 98 pounds and her hair was gone,” he said. “Every night I prayed for [God] to take me instead of her.”

Chatman’s sister made a full recovery and eventually went on to graduate from Ohio State University. Chatman, however, was haunted by the promise he’d made. He didn’t value his life for a long time, and he got into some trouble on his long journey to the culinary industry. Take, for example, the C-Note Lounge. Chatman opened the North Side club with his mother in 1996 when he was in his mid-20s, and while the establishment was successful, it attracted a rough crowd. “We got in gun fights,” Chatman said. One night someone nearly shot his father, and Chatman almost retaliated in a major way. “[There’s] no telling what would have happened to me if I’d have shot the dude,” he said. But there were also some highs during that time. As a rapper, Chatman — who performed under the names Finesse and Synk Diggy — had the opportunity to open for the Roots and De La Soul at a music festival at the University of Cincinnati.
By 1999, though, Chatman had another traumatic experience. “I went to like seven funerals in six months,” he said. Thinking he would be next, he recorded an album and called it The Last Chapter. “I really didn’t think I was going to make it to 2000. So it was my last chapter,” he said. When he survived that rough period, he finally realized he wasn’t destined to die young. He made another overture to God. “I promised to show appreciation for my life,” he said. After engaging in productive projects, such as owning and operating a salon on Cleveland Avenue, he attended the Columbus Culinary Institute. The decision wasn’t random; Chatman had developed a passion for food as a child, eating Asian dishes prepared by his Korean mother and classic soul food enjoyed by the African-American side of his family. He remembers watching food programs on PBS, as well as cooking show “The Galloping Gourmet.” By age 11, he began cooking for himself.

Kitchen specializes in “cultural comfort food” inspired by Chatman’s heritage and the Cajun and Creole styles he grew to love. “My two biggest sellers in the bar [are] the egg rolls that my mom comes in and rolls fresh every Tuesday and Thursday, and the Korean wings, which are her recipe,” Chatman said. He serves a diverse clientele, including 17 older women who come in every Monday after their golf game. In addition to getting on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” Chatman’s goal is simply to be successful. “This is kinda like my retirement plea,” he said. After so many challenges, Chatman is finally doing what he was meant to do. “I just like everything about food,” he said. “I like the sound. I like the smell. I like the sight. … It makes me feel full. I’m fulfilled.”

“My mom was … working overtime all the time and I wanted good food, so I learned how to make it,” he said. He continued cooking as an adult, completing catering jobs on the side. At one point, he worked in his mother’s nowclosed Korean restaurant, Koreana, on Bethel road. He and his family also operated the Kimchee Shack at the Asian Festival each summer for more than a decade. After culinary school, Chatman worked at the Columbus Country Club and Black Olive. He spent three years as the head chef of Two Fish Bistro. He also had the opportunity to cater Super Bowl parties for his friend, film director and Ohio native Bill Delaney, in Hollywood. Desiring a restaurant of his own, Chatman purchased Sunset Grille in Reynoldsburg in April 2015. The new SC Bar &

MINT is a collaborative, multidisciplinary space founded and operated by local artists. Abidingly fresh, adaptable and dynamic, our mission at MINT is to support underrepresented and developing artists, to cultivate relationships within the community, to embrace alternative projects and to remain persistently disobedient to traditional thinking. Visit our website at mintcollective. org or find us on Facebook, and then visit the space Friday, May 20 for our spring fundraiser (see details on page 31). Here are a few things we love.

Do-it-yourself is one of our mantras at MINT. As an artist-run space, we have our hands in and on every aspect of the space, from curating and installing gallery shows and booking performances to tech setup and facility renovations. Even though we’re DIY, we receive lots of support from the community at large, including friends, family, artists, peers, small businesses and local organizations. Dozens of amazing folks have donated time, goods, and services to our spring fundraiser. We hope you’ll join us!
Tucked back by the railroad tracks and behind Buckeye Donuts (“not the campus one”), we are proud to be located in Merion Village. This neighborhood is not a marketing campaign, it doesn’t have an art crawl night and it doesn’t need “revitalization.” It’s a tightknit community with a strong, active neighborhood association, community activities and events, independently-owned businesses, public schools, a public library and public parks.
Femme, queer anD/or artIsts oF color
Our building is a former meatprocessing facility, and we fondly treasure the remaining evidence of the space’s former life. Our annual member exhibition, titled “MEAT SINK,” references this — the MEAT SINK sign is a permanent fixture in our gallery. Our ongoing publication “CURED,” equally inspired by a relief of what ails you and a meat preservation technique, will be included in the bookstore/library we’re opening at the space this summer.
alternatIVes to the alternatIVes Back in August of 2014, we were 11 individuals who formed a collective because Columbus didn’t have the alternative we sought. We didn’t gripe and we didn’t leave: we created our own alternative. Demonstrated by the artists who join as members and the artists who exhibit and perform who are unable to carry out their practice anywhere else, demonstrated by the friends of the space who come to have an experience they won’t get anywhere else, demonstrated by the structure (perhaps, dis-structure) of the collective in which we are not beholden to any authority in any sense, we created our own alternative to the alternative.

SPECIALS:
nothing A friend recently told me about the band Nothing and its new album called Tired of Tomorrow. Thirty seconds into the first song, I was hooked. Its dreamy, shoe-gaze jams sound like a lovely summer day, but cover serious topics like hopelessness and decay. Here’s hoping a tour swings by Columbus soon. –BetSy BeCker “the night manager” I’m a couple episodes in to the six-episode miniseries, which is inspired by an espionage novel penned by John le Carre (the author whose works inspired big-screen gems like “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”), and I’m hooked. Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston are perfectly cast (my wife upon seeing Hiddleston absent his Loki/“Avengers” makeup: “It’s nice to see him looking so tan and healthy”), and the writing is top-notch. I can’t wait to see how the plot unfolds. –Andy downing

As MINT member Ginssiyo Apara demonstrated during his presentation at Pecha Kucha #35, femme, queer and artists of color are sorely underrepresented in “the art world,” but even in art spaces within Columbus. White, cishet men are completely outnumbered in our member roster not as a result of exclusionary practices, but rather by basic, enduring tenants of the space: safety, support, agency.

he easy part was settling on a name: Lisa. When Lisa Bella Donna was a teenager living as Adam Smith in Marietta, she spent a stretch of time homeless, occasionally taking up residency in a music shop owned by Lisa and Steve Erb. The couple, which also owned Air Freight Studio, served as early musical mentors, in addition to providing sporadic shelter and a means of earning at least a meager income. “I was giving 30 lessons a week at their music store … and I eventually conned them into giving me a key to the shop so I could practice after giving lessons every night. Then I would crash there and get up and go to school the next day,” Bella Donna said in an early May interview at a Clintonville coffee shop. “Lisa [Erb] was just amazing. She had a strong, mellow vibe, and she was just gorgeous. She was very Italian looking: big hair, big hoop earrings, big lips. Lisa is one of my best friends … and when I finally got to come alive that was it. [The name] was something that came when I said, ‘OK, it’s time for this dimension to emerge.’ It was just like that.”

Robbins, vice president of Akron-based EarthQuaker Devices, which has maintained a business relationship with Bella Donna stretching back years (the keyboardist and guitarist represents the guitar effects-pedal manufacturer at trade shows, demonstrating the gear, and has even appeared in online instructional videos). “She never fit any traditional boxes anyways, but all of that was sort of the whole package.” “I’d always dress the loudest. It wasn’t something I thought about; I just did it,” Bella Donna said. “I heard every derogatory statement you can think daily in my life, being called a fag. The truth of it is that we’re all very lucky to have one another on this planet. Why get in the way of it? Why not allow people to be who they are and whatever that is?” These more colorful, out-there tendencies metastasized into a source of shame, depression and self-loathing
when Bella Donna was sexually assaulted and raped at age 13 while presenting as feminine, a painful, deeply scarring experience that has taken three decades and multiple years in therapy to come to terms with and find some semblance of healing. “At the time of the rape … I thought, ‘Well, that probably wasn’t a good idea to allow that dimension to emerge,’ and I spent the next 30 years trying to [bury it],” she said. “I was like, ‘I know I can be a better man than most of the people in my life,’ and that’s what I tried to be. But I was never really happy. I became increasingly detached [and] depressed, and I started to feel that something was very deeply missing.” Though Bella Donna has felt imprisoned for decades in some ways — by the residual scars of her adolescent assault and by a body she never felt fully connected with — her music has
always been defined by its complete disregard for boundaries. “I like to move around with styles, which has cost me a career,” said a laughing Bella Donna, who is equally at home turning out avant-garde jazz in European halls with collaborators like Simone Weißenfels and Andreas Scotty Böttcher or exploring the cosmos with psych-metal collective EYE, which inked a deal with Laser’s Edge in March and has a new record due out this summer. “I’d be a lot better off if I could pick a lane, but I can’t do that. It’s not why I’m here.” That sense of freedom carries through her debut solo recording as Lisa Bella Donna, Looking Out Looking On (out on Kvltvre Klvb, a new local label launched by Tom Butler and Ricky Thompson), which she’ll perform selections from during a record release show at the Summit on Friday, May 20.

Everything else has been more of a struggle for the 43-year-old musician, who lived as Adam Smith for much of her life before “stepping outside for the first time,” as she termed it, in July 2015. Rather than the traditional explanation of “a woman trapped in a man’s body,” Bella Donna equated the pull she felt from age five with the Native American Two-Spirit tradition. “The other me you’ve always known was never not authentic, but this dimension was always in there,” she said. “Deep down I always felt I should have been born a woman.” Bella Donna’s decision coincides with an increase in mainstream awareness of issues facing transgender individuals, including the March passage of legislation in North Carolina that limits civil rights protections for LGBTQ people and has inspired musicians like Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam to boycott the state. (See sidebar on page 19.) “But I was never doing any of this to make a statement or to have an agenda,” the musician said. “I was just trying to be happy in my body.” ella Donna was born in Cleveland, raised by a homemaker mother and a father who worked for General Motors. At 10 or 11 years old, her parents divorced, and the youngster relocated to West Virginia with her mother to be closer to family members — a geographical and cultural shift that sent her reeling. “I grew up in Cleveland mostly around African-Americans; my parents listened to R&B and soul and Motown, and that’s where we lived — in that culture,” she said, noting its distance from the whiter, more rural surroundings in which she found herself following the move. The fish-out-of-water effect was further heightened by the more flamboyant tendencies Bella Donna exhibited from childhood, which stood in stark contrast with the good-old-boy attitude she encountered first in West Virginia and later in Marietta. Throughout her life, Bella Donna has favored long hair, jewelry (she’s had both ears pierced from age nine) and splashier, more feminine wardrobe selections. “Honestly, Lisa’s idea of dressing masculine was really dressing like a wizard,” said longtime friend Julie

Lisa Bella Donna performs with her band, EYE. “Our bands played together for 20 years, but to see Lisa perform compared to seeing Adam Smith perform, you can tell the music is just flowing through her,” said longtime friend Matt Miner. “She’s in a better creative spot, and the transmission is more pure.” Music served both as a means of escape and a stabilizing force in the years following the assault, providing structure in an environment where balance sometimes lacked. As a teenager, Bella Donna would visit the library once a week, where she would randomly select seven records spanning every genre of music, taking time to learn at least one song off each LP — a different one for each day of the week. This routine offered a sense of consistency during teenage years marked by nearconstant upheaval. “I went through six of eight of my mother’s marriages; I changed 17 schools 23 different times; I lived on the street as a teenager; I’ve been in knife fights; I’ve experienced a lot of violence and hate,” Bella Donna said, pulling up her sleeve to reveal a small scar on her forearm. “When I didn’t feel safe at home or on the street, I would
just go to the library. I think I read books on every composer.” After watching director George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead,” Bella Donna became obsessed with the film score, dubbing it from VHS to a cassette tape, which she would then listen to on repeat while walking alone on secluded country roads. “[The movie] was shot in a similar-looking environment to West Virginia,” she said. “My life was in such a terrible [condition], it was like living in the scenario in the film.” This imagery became a recurring theme throughout Bella Donna’s adult life, surfacing both in band names (Sleeping Death, Deadsea) and in lyrical content. “As I look back, a lot of the mythology in my music was based in the living dead, and it was more than just, ‘I love George Romero movies,’” she said. “I definitely felt like somebody that was living in a body that didn’t belong to me. It felt like I had a much bigger spirit than I was able to be.” n 2014, feeling increasingly trapped and about a year into therapy that had elicited little-to-
no-progress, Bella Donna wished for death — “I figured at a certain point I would just get cancer or something and get eaten up,” she said — and even briefly contemplated suicide. “It was less reactive and more like, ‘This makes the most sense at this point. I’ve been on the planet a long time, and it’s probably time for me to go and let whatever spirits are in here free,’” she said. “And I thought my only real option was to do that through death.” Eventually, lessons absorbed in therapy started to take hold, a process Bella Donna compared with rewiring a home’s electrical system, pulling out the frayed cables to start over anew. “And as I begin to heal, that was when I let this dimension begin to emerge,” she said. The musician started by taking small steps: shaping her eyebrows, wearing more makeup and gradually changing the cut and color of her hair. “Last summer we were out at a friend’s birthday party — this was when Lisa was still Adam — and he showed up and his hair was dyed and it was obviously cut in a more feminine manner,” Miner said.
Regardless, few around the musician caught on to the gradual transition, owing largely to her long-held fondness for fashion, jewelry, hair care and the like. “It’s funny, because she had been dropping hints forever and I wasn’t picking it up,” said friend, musician and frequent collaborator Nicole Sherburne. “When she finally came out to me and said, ‘Hey, I’m making my transition,’ I was like, ‘Ohhhh, so when you were showing me your earring collection two years ago? Ohhh!’ I was like, ‘Wow, OK, now I get it.’ The clues were there. I just wasn’t picking it up.” In the years leading up to her public coming out as Lisa, Bella Donna immersed herself in research, watching videos on My Genderation, a website that collects documentaries exploring issues of gender variance, and gradually reaching out to a tightknit network of friends and collaborators. “I started slowly but surely incorporating the people in my life I knew I’d feel safe with,” said Bella Donna, who worked on records for bands like psych-rock trio Mosses presenting as Lisa. “So I kind of got to live safely and privately as Lisa for almost a year before really coming out.” Near the midpoint of 2015, Bella Donna reached a point where she started to question which restroom she should be using during performances at the Walrus, where the musician appeared as part of a monthly jazz residency. A subsequent July dinner with Julie Robbins sped the decision to come out publicly. “In a way, Julie’s the one who saved my life, because I was really in not a good place,” said Bella Donna. “I was supposed to have a dinner date with her, and I was dressed like [Lisa]. I was like, ‘Well, Julie, I don’t know how you feel about me showing up looking a little extra fabulous,’ and she was like, ‘Bring it on.’ “I’m somebody who really takes my relationships very seriously and very to heart. And that was a thing I didn’t want to trade. Coming from an abused background, everything’s a trade, and everything’s a hard deal. And that’s how I was wired until that conversation. After we spent the evening together, she said, ‘With your blessing, I’d like to prove to you how many people are on your side,’ because I didn’t believe it.”

It’s a minefield out there, and I don’t envy her. I think she’s one of the most amazing people for doing it the way that she has and continuing to be a positive force.” Bella Donna received a significant boost in this regard courtesy of her four-and-a-half-year-old daughter, whom she has come out to slowly and deliberately, cognizant of the adjustment required for all involved. “I didn’t just show up a woman one day and let my daughter figure it out,” she said. “Slowly but surely I was incorporating it, and one day my daughter looks at me and goes, ‘You know, Daddy, you look like a girl.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, you’re right. How do you feel about that?’ She took a minute and looked me up and down and said, ‘I think you’re adorable. You’re really a beautiful princess Daddy.’ “You can’t buy that sort of clarity. It only comes from your children. She’s continued to prove to me that all the stuff people stick on the human condition, it doesn’t matter. We’re all spirits having a human experience. You can call it whatever you want, but that’s all it is. And my daughter taught me that.”

The outpouring that followed, which arrived over numerous days in the form of flattering, flirty and supportive text messages, emails and phone calls, strengthened Bella Donna’s resolve to move forward. “It changed my life, just like that,” she said. ompared with her past recorded catalog, Bella Donna’s debut has the airy feel of opening the window to take in the early spring breeze at the tail end of a long, brutal winter — a newfound lightness she attributes at least in part to her current state of mind. “As soon as I came out, it was like turning the anxiety button off,” she said. “I lived in a constant anxiety attack and had no idea. It was so prevalent I didn’t even realize what was happening to me. Once I stepped out and started doing this, I started to feel much more at peace.” Even so, Bella Donna admitted the transition has tested her, and will continue to do so moving forward. “Even though this is really going to challenge a lot of things in my life — especially being a late bloomer — it’s the best decision I ever made, because I’m alive,” she said. “I think they call it transitioning for a reason, and it’s not just the physical transformation,” Robbins said. “It’s wrapping your mind around everything and realigning your relationships and your vision of yourself and the way the world sees you — all of those things.
Everybody has opinions, and everybody poops. And some people have strong opinions about where others choose to poop. State Representative John Becker falls in the latter category. The Republican from Union Township, about 20 miles east of Cincinnati, is working on statewide legislation that will require people to use bathrooms that correspond with their genitalia, as opposed to their gender identity. Up for reelection this cycle, Becker has a history of accessibility agendas and is no stranger to legislating around genitalia. His overall voting record since being elected in 2012 has been to make guns more accessible and abortions less accessible. (Since 2013, he has voted to limit the procedure six times.) Becker’s most recent crusade is in direct response to a differing opinion, one made 700 miles away by a corporation. This past April, the Target Corporation announced its policy to welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity. While the company did not respond to questions from Alive, Target makes its position clear on its website and has been unwavering, despite 1.2 million people pledging to boycott its stores. “We believe that everyone deserves to be protected from discrimination, and treated equally,” the company’s statement reads. “Consistent with this belief, Target supports the federal Equality Act, which provides protections to LGBT individuals, and opposes action that enables discrimination.” According to a post on his personal Facebook account, Becker believes this decision by the Target Corporation puts women and children in
danger of sexual predators. “This is the note I just sent to Target’s corporate office,” he wrote. “‘Are you out of your collective minds? Why are you perpetuating a war on women and children by allowing men in the women’s restrooms? Is “political correctness” more important to you than public safety?’” When asked if sexual predators have been an issue for his constituents, Becker responded by email, “Sexual predators are always a concern.” Closer to home, one business has been operating with transfriendly restrooms for three years without incident. Mike Folker, owner of Bossy Grrl’s Pin Up Joint, is proud of his bar’s gender-neutral bathrooms, marked “heads” or “tails” with corresponding pennies lining the floors. Folker said this approach to restrooms helps to make his establishment feel welcoming to all his customers (trans and non) and that everyone who comes through appreciates the setup. Perks to making restroom facilities accessible to all include shorter lines and cleaner bathrooms. (There’s added social pressure to be clean, he said, when your date may be the next one in.) Folker believes Becker is using a wedge issue to garner votes this fall. “Taking a small minority of people to tell them they’re not welcome is a really poor way to win a reelection,” he said. “Republicans are supposed to be for the free market. Businesses should decide what the best approach is [for their customers]. I think that [Becker] ought to check his principles.” As to whether Representative Becker would choose “heads” or “tails” when using the facilities at Bossy Grrl’s, Folker said he can’t predict, but “I’d love to watch his confusion as he tries to decide.”

MonSter truck (Friday)
Megadeth (Friday)
Any band named Monster Truck needs to live up to its evocative moniker in more ways than one. The group should resemble a throng of denim-clad, longhaired burnouts stumbling out of a smoke-belching van in the summer of 1976. Songs have to be heavy, thick and bluesy. And some lyrics should pertain to living for the moment and ignoring authorities. This bluecollar, Ontario-based quartet checks all those boxes and more — and won a Juno Award in the process. “Rock ’n’ roll might save your life tonight,” Jon Harvey sings on his collective’s recent album, treating the declaration as a certainty.
Try to momentarily forget about leader Dave Mustaine’s antagonizing personality and (sigh) controversial politics. Save for Red Hot Chili Peppers, no group on the bill possesses Megadeth’s experience or influence. While Mustaine’s supporting cast changes on a regular basis, the guitarist/vocalist has never lost his bitter-aspirin tone or cynical rage. The quartet’s recent Dystopia marks a return to the pentup frustration, kinetic interplay and technical fretwork honed on Megadeth’s thrash hallmarks. Even better, live staples such as “Peace Sells” and “Symphony of Destruction” erupt with a relevancy that suggests they could’ve been written yesterday.

What’s rock ’n’ roll without a little star power? Given Mötley Crüe officially called it a day, Sixx:A.M. takes over as bassist Nikki Sixx’s main outlet. He’s again joined by fellow Hot Topic model-in-the-making DJ Ashba, a fluid guitarist who gained fame by helping the pre-reunion circus of Guns N’ Roses attain a level of respectability that appeared impossible before his arrival in 2009. Ashba apparently turned down Axl Rose’s offer to remain onboard with Slash, which gives him — and Sixx:A.M. — even more incentive to impress with the band’s own glam-spackled brand of sleaze and swagger.

By Andy downing @andydowning33 Chicago rapper Cupcakke announced her presence in 2015 with her own extended “Vagina” monologue, a moan-filled, X-rated sexual fantasy that should’ve been delivered to listeners wrapped in black plastic. The song also kicked off the 18-year-old MC’s debut mixtape, Cum Cake, from 2016, setting up expectations the rest of the album might unfold like a Willy Wonka-esque boat trek through the mind of Larry Flynt. But while the musician occasionally dips into more sexually charged material (see: “Deepthroat,” which has zero to do with the Watergate fallout), the bulk of the album finds Cupcakke branching out into subjects like homelessness, police brutality, pedophilia and gun violence, emerging as a fully realized, three-dimensional artist rather than a simple novelty act. “People were thinking, ‘She’s so vulgar. She’s bold. We’re going to get a mixtape that’s nasty.’ And then they come to find out there are only three songs on the mixtape that are [explicit],” said Cupcakke, born Elizabeth Harris, who teams with Total Freedom for a concert at MINT on Saturday, May 21. “I tried not to put a mixtape out … where every song is about a re-

No. I try to [tackle] different subjects each time I write.” At times, Cupcakke pens songs inspired by things she’s witnessed. Though the rapper has never been profiled by police, she witnessed it on numerous occasions living on Chicago’s South Side. Other songs are more explicitly autobiographical. The musician, who was raised by a single mother, spent nearly four years navigating Chicago’s homeless shelters starting at age seven, and those years surface in tracks like “Reality Part 2.”
“So listen … barely eating, so I thank God for this bite / “No light, food or gas, but I thank God for them nights,” she rhymes a cappella. “It’s a deep topic,” she said, “and even if they gave me a great beat I thought people would be too focused on it [rather than my words].” Cupcakke’s evolution into a bawdy, refuseto-hold-back presence surprises even the musician, who alternately described herself as “soft spoken” and “really quiet” in her day-to-day. “When I’m not writing or recording or performing, I’m just normal,” said the MC, who
got her start performing clean, faith-based, spoken-word poetry in churches like Bread of Life. “People won’t get that from me because all they think is ‘Cupcakke, Cupcakke, Cupcakke!’ But Elizabeth doesn’t do that. It’s like two characters.” One trait the two do share, however, is a love of writing, which the rapper discussed with a fondness typically reserved for loved ones. “Writing is … my friend. It’s family,” she said. “I know it’s just words, but it’s something close to me. That’s how I look at it.”
By Joel oliphint @joeloliphint For the past few years, it seemed just as likely to see a PBR tall boy can in someone’s hand at a local show as it was to see Sega Genocide onstage. And yet, a full-length record from the garage-pop band remained elusive. Until now. This weekend Sega Genocide will release TRYS on Cleveland’s Just Because Records. I worried with a band like Sega Genocide that the record wouldn’t be able to contain the sweaty, fuzz-drenched gloriousness of its live shows, but fortunately my worries were unfounded. TRYS has everything we’ve come to know and love about this band: loud guitars, hooks aplenty and Brian C.R.’s
self-deprecating lyrics. “I live like a selfish, stupid, ugly little kid,” he sings on “Dark Days.” I don’t know about all those descriptors, but making us wait this long for a record this good? Yeah, it was a little selfish. Headlining the release show is Peach Kelli Pop, a five-piece, all-female act from Los Angeles that began as the Ottawabased solo project of Allie Hanlon and morphed into punky power-pop that should pair perfectly with Sega Genocide. Vacation rounds out the late-show, post-Chelsea Wolfe bill.

why you should go nicholas Thorburn of the unicorns fame is a busy man. This month alone he delivered two full-length albums with his band Islands: Should I Remain Here at Sea? and Taste. The former is being pegged as the straight-up rock sequel to the band’s 2006 debut, Return to the Sea, while the latter takes a more electronic, dance-pop approach. It’s a mish-mash only the shifty Thorburn could pull off.

Purson is the prototypical progressive rock band (a rarity in 2016). Frontwoman rosalie Cunningham guides the crew, which incorporates a heavy dose of the doors, led Zeppelin and rush, with a throwback, medieval festival backdrop. also, the group’s newest album is titled Desire’s Magic Theatre, if you needed further evidence of its prog-rock legitimacy. We’re about 10 years removed from TIP’s heyday, but that’s no reason to stop spinning King or to refuse to take a listen to what the in-progress The Dime Trap offers once it arrives. regardless of how it turns out, credit the atlanta rapper, formerly T.I., for his work catapulting trap music to the mainstream. Even if his latest falls shy of expectations, he’ll still have ample classic jams to turn up any live show.

By her voice alone, you might compare Wolfe to Björk or Amy Lee of Evanescence, but the instrumentation underneath, particularly on her newest, Abyss, isn’t so easy to pin down. Pretty Mighty Mighty, Earwig, Colin Gawel: You’d be excused for doing a double take and checking the year after reading that lineup. It could just as easily be a Bernie’s bill from 20 years ago. Pretty Mighty Mighty is probably best known for its 1999 album Famous Past Lives (Derailleur Records) and that LP’s minor radio hit, “Ski Instructor.” Featuring singer/guitarist Jon Chinn, who used to run Workbook Studio with PMM drummer Neal Schmitt, the band mixed math rock with indie pop and early emo, not unlike their buds in Miranda Sound. In fact, Miranda Sound/Bicentennial Bear guitarist Billy Peake will join the reunited Chinn,

“I think you should come closer,” Savages frontwoman Jehnny Beth said to the crowd at the band’s sold-out show at Ace of Cups on a recent Sunday. “We like you wet and sweaty.” The night was indeed marked by physicality, as Beth made contact with audience members — grabbing hands and crowd surfing three times — to express her love. That emotion was at the core of the concert. The British post-punk quartet, clad in black, played every song off its sophomore album, Adore Life, a collection of prickly love songs. Among them was the driving head-banger “The Answer” and the sauntering “Slow Down the World,” which Beth introduced as a “sexy song.” Before the band played “I Need Something New,” Beth warned the crowd about a problem that often befalls romantic relationships. “There’s nothing more dangerous than the bored woman,” she said. Beth delivered the first few lines a cappella, giving the song a theatrical quality. She employed this technique on a couple other songs, and at times opted to perform the lyrics in a spoken-word form.
Beth’s knack for drama is matched only by her athleticism, which was on full display. The audience looked on in amazement as she danced, jumped, dipped and punched the air throughout the show. At one point during “Hit Me,” she allowed the crowd to prop her up by her knees and raise her so high that she could (and did) touch the ceiling. And the fearless singer never missed a note. Savages balanced exciting, high-energy performances with more subdued moments during “Mechanics” and “Adore Life.” The crowd listened quietly and intently, captivated by Beth’s voice, which was as clear and impressive live as it is on the recording. And she knew just when to hold a note a little longer or add a major pause before the end of a phrase to create a memorable effect. The band closed the show with “Fuckers,” one of the few songs it played from its first album, Silence Yourself. “We’ll come back if you come back,” Beth told the audience. With a show this spectacular, it’s likely only a matter of time before Savages jumps to bigger venues. Better see them now while you can still reach out and touch them.

pen up or we’re coming in.” That might sounds like a response to Alive’s Question of the Week for this issue, “What sixword phrase do you dread hearing?” But for Shannon Wilson, these six words, uttered at her door by police, were “my miracle. It changed my life.” Wilson’s story is one of eight that will be shared firstperson at “Six in the City Live! An Evening of Stories, Music and More” at the Wexner Center for the Arts on Thursday, May 19.

The event, in part, marks the approach of the oneyear anniversary of “Six in the City: Columbus,” a local initiative of author and publisher Larry Smith based on his “Six-Word Memoirs.” The “Six Words” series began in 2006 as a onemonth, user-generated storytelling contest on his Smith Magazine website. The response was overwhelming, so Smith decided first to curate the stories for the site, and then to collect and publish them in traditional book form. Smith has since curated live “talk” events around the six-word concept, whether hosting public events or bringing “six words” to schools and other venues as a way to explore and inspire creativity. “The one-year anniversary is something special,” said Smith, who found a willing partner in Columbus soon after relocating here from the West Coast. “This community embraced the idea, really made it easy. I’d like to see it become a ‘Columbus thing.’”
For this special event — “This is the most ambitious live show we’ve ever done,” Smith said — Smith will bring together a slate of storytellers who will begin with six words and then share a bit of backstory. Wilson’s six-word backstory is a defining moment in her life. Involved with drugs and alcohol since she was a teenager, she was a married mother of a fiveyear-old boy when she hit rock bottom. “I knew I was at an end. I had struggled with addiction and had moved on to harder drugs and the lifestyle that came with that,” she said. “Complications from that lifestyle are what got me arrested. I was tried, and I knew it was coming.” In her nearly four years at the Ohio Reformatory for Women, Wilson joined “programs, groups, Bible studies, anything I could think of to change.” Transitioning out of prison, often a difficult process, was aided by a series of programs and “halfway houses.” It was through one of these programs that Wilson was

I’ve been [with Hot Chicken] for over a year now and it helped me become a productive member of society,” Wilson said. “My hope for this talk would be to open people’s eyes to see that people can change.” Other featured presenters will include veteran raconteur Ralph Fredericks, poet Amy Turn Sharp, Columbus icon Xenia Palus, Aaron King of The Dharma House, Keida Mascaro from The Armchair Report and sustainable fashion designer and advocate Celeste Malvar-Stewart. “[Smith’s] six-word [event] is my secret weapon,” Malvar-Stewart said. “I have a dream of uniting all the independent fashion designers in Columbus. We’ve got all these great people and initiatives, but we don’t really work together. So I’m going to offer a different viewpoint of fashion in Columbus.” Malvar-Stewart’s five-minute presentation will feature six-word selections projected onto dresses worn by live models and onto a screen behind. “Larry gave each of us the stage to do what they do in the way they do it,” she said. “So I’m making a very fashion-y statement.” A six-word event hosted by teacher Ben Shinabery at Arts & College Preparatory Academy introduced Smith to 15-year-old musician Chloe White. The six-word-inspired original song she performed was enough to make Smith want to bring her in for the live event. “When I heard Larry would be attending [the ACPA event], I flipped out,” White said. “Then to be invited to perform … I felt really honored. And my family is really pumped.” White’s backstory is music, something she’s been doing and making “since I could walk and talk. In my spare time, all I do is write songs.” White, who performs solo and with an acoustic band called Five3, is interested in all kinds of music, from jazz to bluegrass.

“Daughters” restoration screeneD at Wex
by Jim FisCher Filmmaker Julie Dash is just glad the world will now get to see the “Daughters of the Dust” she made 25 years ago. The Wexner Center for the Arts will premiere a new restoration of the landmark film this weekend, after which it will make the rounds on the summer festival circuit before a theatrical re-release this fall. “Daughters” was the first film by an African-American woman to get a wide theatrical release. Dash’s film provides still-revealing insights into the Gullah Geechee culture of formerly enslaved Africans and their descendants who lived along the Sea Islands off the coast of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Set in the early 1900s, “Daughters” tells the story of the younger generation of the Peazant family as they prepare to leave the islands for the U.S. mainland. “I felt we deserved something authentic to our tradition, something real,” Dash said. “I was very eager to tackle the subject [and] to provide something very deeply authentic to the culture.” Reaction to the original release, Dash said, was mixed. “Everyone said they loved the way it looked, and then let’s not talk any more about it,”

she said with a hint of a laugh. “People were surprised. They didn’t know the history.” Nonetheless, “Daughters” was a hit at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival, earning cinematography honors, which Dash always found ironic, given the print of the film hadn’t undergone all the necessary post-production corrections — and still hadn’t, until Columbus’ Cohen Film Collec-
tion acquired it last year. “The original film was not properly color graded, and the print still needed some image cleanup and stabilization,” Cohen film archivist Tim Lanza said. “You see it now, and it’s just gorgeous. So many frames would make beautiful still photos.” “All I had to do was say yes” to the restoration, Dash said. “I was eager to have it done. This is a blessing.”
“(The film has) been available to the public since its initial release but it has never looked like this,” said David Filipi, the Wexner Center’s director of film/video. “The beautiful camerawork by Arthur Jafa, which captures the exquisite costumes and colors of the landscape, has never looked better.” Dash will participate in a post-screening Q&A session following Friday’s sold-out screening.
“Patterns of Life” reflects a universality, a permanence amid change, a weaving together of things established with things emerging. This exhibit by A Village Collective at the William H. Thomas Gallery is bridging the gap between arts community elders and younger generations of creatives in Columbus, curator Shelbi Harris said. Harris is working at the gallery, which has been curated by Chief Baba Shongo Obadina since he opened it in 1976. “He’s all about the Flower of Life, and thought that was a great Baba inspiration for this exhibit,” Harris said. The “Patterns” aspect acknowledges the passing down of culture and
community from elders to a younger generation of artists. “One of the things we talk about here at the gallery is crossing over to a new generation,” Harris said. “We did an open call to bring in a little bit of everybody, and to bind them together.” Poet Is Said will host the opening event, which will feature brief statements from participating artists.

why you should go
At once loving and satirical, “The Musical of Musicals: The Musical!” is about, well, you can probably guess. There’s a basic plot, but mostly it serves as a jumping-off point for five pieces, each done in the style of a stage musical master: Sondheim, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lloyd Webber, Herman and Kander & Ebb. This Joanne Bogart/Eric Rockwell play was the longest-running show in the York Theatre Company’s 35-year history. Plus it’s a chance to check out Cyclodrama, a new entry into the Columbus theater scene. A collection of new paintings from Columbus artist Sharon Dougherty and Cincinnati artist Ursula Brenner will be exhibited along with sculpture by Gambier-based Barry Gunderson through July 20 at Art Access Gallery. Dougherty’s work blends modern materials such as Mylar with nature-inspired themes. Brenner is at home with both abstracts and landscapes, focusing on elemental aspects in an image. Kenyon College Professor Emeritus Gunderson creates whimsical pieces inspired by formal and found objects. Maybe classical music can be performed, consumed and shared in a new way. That’s the thought behind Chamber Brews, the brainchild of Elisabeth Jeremica and Devin Copfer. This inaugural program will feature classical chamber repertoire performed in an informal setting. Performers will engage with the audience about the pieces, about the performance, about the tradition and where it might go, “changing the conversation around classical music,” Copfer said. “We’re going to perform and talk Mozart.”

My biggest knock on the 2014 comedy “Neighbors” was that it played too much into its dumb raunch and targeted the same frat/bro audience it was seeking to lampoon. So while I don’t want to overstate how much of a pleasant surprise its sequel is, I’ll just say the follow-up is smarter and better than its predecessor. To quickly recap the first movie for the uninitiated: New parents Mac and Kelly Radner (Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne) move into their dream home, only to find a wild fraternity living next door. An elaborate prank war ensues between the Radners and the frat, led by its president, Teddy Sanders (Zac Efron). “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” certainly doesn’t waste any energy on anything like, I don’t know, a new plot construction. The Radners are expecting their second child, so they sell their house for an upgrade, only to soon learn the meaning of “in escrow.” While they’re waiting for the buyer to finalize, you’ll never guess what moves in next door! Well, unless you’ve read the name of the movie.
While this seems like a carbon-copy of the predecessor — and kicks off with a similarly crass gag — the sorority angle is actually a breath of fresh air. This sorority was actually founded by a college freshman named Shelby (Chloë Grace Moretz) and her friends who find normal Greek life ridiculously sexist. Particularly the rule that says sororities can’t throw parties. After attending their first fraternity party, one remarks correctly, “It was super-rapey in there.” Teddy also returns, but he’s a kinder, gentler version for the most part. And, again, the sequel benefits, as Efron is actually pretty funny when he wants to be. Director Nicholas Stoller returns, as do the original writers — although they got some help this time, as Stoller, Rogen and Evan Goldberg (“Superbad”) are credited. This is still a dumb, raunchy, Rrated comedy at heart — with a couple jokes and gags that may cross the line for many. But this is coupled with an oddly compelling feminist message: Girls “get to be just as dumb as boys now.” That and an uptick in actual laughs make this one recommended.

One of the great conundrums of the advent of streaming entertainment — be it music, TV or movies — is that it has removed the concept of scarcity. I suspect the fact that you can listen to virtually every album ever recorded from a device in the palm of your hand is part of what’s brought back vinyl collecting. The same holds true for films, as fewer and fewer are truly hard to find. That’s what makes this week’s theatrical release of “Belladonna of Sadness” at the Gateway Film Center a big deal. The animated Japanese feature film, from 1973, is both beautiful and bizarre — a tale of violence, deals with the devil and sex. And it’s gained a cult following despite never having been released in the U.S. (It’s often dubbed “erotic,” although that’s in the eye of the beholder.)

One thing is safe to say: You won’t see something like this on a big screen often. The first half has the visual feel of a storybook — more prone to pans over beautiful drawn and painted stills than traditional animation. But things get wild as we go deeper into the movie. The psychedelic aspect of the animation is another reason for its cult status. I would never recommend my loyal readers attend a movie in a public place in altered states, but you’re
all adults, right? Bottom line: If art-house erotic psychedlelic anime sounds like your thing, you probably should check this out.

numerating the differences between modernday Columbus and the city it was a quartercentury ago would be an onerous task. Listing the similarities would be a much simpler undertaking — and would include mentioning the splurge-worthy comfort food available at La Chatelaine French Bakery and Bistro, which turned 25 years old in April.
36
Paris Flamekush
Three similar La Chatelaines now grace the area, but I exclusively visited the Upper Arlington original for this review. Frankly, little has changed there throughout the years, and that’s not a bad thing. The large and long space replete with wood and rustic, chaletcum-farmhouse charm includes a small bar and popular patio. Francophile touches abound and French pop music usually plays. Some of this might strike you as hokey — like when servers greet patrons with a cheery “Bon jour” — but French is the native tongue of the Wielezynski family that still runs all three restaurants, so I’ll say it’s more endearing than corny. A solid selection of beer, especially Belgian ales, and wine is available. A sensible choice from the grape-produced group is the house Cote du Rhone, ostensibly exclusive to La Chatelaine.
That food-friendly French red wine makes a nice match with the Spaghetti a la Gigi. Named after Gigi Wielezynski, the eponymous “chatelaine” (“la chatelaine” refers to the mistress of a chateau), it’s pasta with a terrific meat sauce that tastes more like an authentic Italian Bolognese sauce than the Bolognese you get in most Italian restaurants. Order this during lunch when La Chatelaine operates cafeteria-style and when the place’s deservedly famous Croque Monsieur sandwich ($7) and wonderful Quiche Lorraine ($7) are freshly made, and the pasta will be $9. Order it at dinner and it’ll be $13, but will come with a side, such as a creamy-but-nuanced Caesar salad with homemade croutons ($5.50 a la carte). A potential dinnertime downside: the pre-made salad might be a little wilted. My favorite dinner dish is the excellent Cassoulet

($22). It’s a rustic-yet-refined white bean casserole with deep, earthy flavors enhanced by a tender leg of duck confit and a plump, homemade pork sausage. Wine, herbs and toasted bread crumbs lighten the French countryside classic. For something much lighter, try the Salmon and Green Peppercorn Sauce ($19). A tender, juicy and nice-sized fillet rests atop crispy blocks of scenestealing, dark golden-brown potatoes. Scattered about this center are colorful blanched strips of squash, carrot and bell pepper. Generously dotting the plate is the more-creamy-than-zingy namesake sauce. For something really light, try the somewhat unwieldy but pleasant Paris Flamekush ($9). La Chatelaine’s flamekushes are paper-thin flatbreads; the all-veggie Paris variant is sauced with a lemony, slightly creamy base abundantly topped with a veritable salad that includes cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, spinach, onions and Kalamata olives. A relatively new menu option is the Ohio Beef Short Rib Indochine sandwich ($13; pair it with crisp fries for another $1.75). With jus-drenched, flavorful pot roast-type meat, mayo, cilantro plus vinegar-kissed cucumber and carrots on a homemade baguette, it’s a “Frenchified” Vietnamese-style banh mi without chilies or fish sauce. In other words, it’s a rich and non-spicy “meta” version of a fusion concoction developed long ago through the cultural interactions of France and Vietnam. Don’t think about that too long, just eat the sandwich.

Five spots to rock during
rock on the range weekend
MUsiC
By niCholAs dekker
Skully’S muSic-DineR Skully’s is a long-lasting Short North tenant that harkens back to the days of more live music on the block, like 2Co’s Cabaret and Stache’s/Little Brothers. The music lineup covers everything from national touring acts to local favorites to a smattering of dance/DJ nights, all supplemented by a classic diner menu that features, amongst other things, breakfast served all day.
Prior to opening Four String Brewing, owner Dan Cochran was known for lending his bass skills to Ohio bands like Big Back Forty and Colin Gawel & the Lonely Bones. His brewing ventures continue down the music trail, and his Grandview taproom is a rocking spot to sample rock ’n’ roll-themed beers like the Brass Knuckle pale ale, the Switchblade IPA or the Suncaster summer wheat.
little Rock Little Rock is a neighborhood favorite with a kicking little patio. Live performances range from karaoke to comedy nights, and local singersongwriters to DJ dance-offs. And now with Chef Marcus Meacham’s Steam Kitchen having set up shop inside the bar, you’ve got your taste buds covered and then some.
caFe BouRBon StReet/the Summit With spots like Bernie’s closing up shop, it’s reassuring when dive bars like Cafe Bourbon Street and The Summit keep kicking. The musical lineup is continually changing, but you know you can rely on solid acts every night. Add in a mountain of pierogis and a full bar, and you’re set. Here’s hoping the venue keeps kicking for a long time. Nicholas Dekker writes about breakfast, beer, coffee and Columbus at breakfastwithnick.com. He leads breakfast and brunch tours for Columbus Food Adventures.

The Big Room is a natural entry for this list. CD102.5’s live music lounge expanded into a full-service restaurant last year. The live music stays, but now you’ve got plenty of beers on tap, a full bar and, yes, brunch. Catch live shows most nights while you sample musically themed dishes like the Paul Westerburger, the Velvet Underground loaded fries or the Greens of the Stone Age salad.

Karrio Ballard of Barrel on HigH
By eriCA thompson @miss_ethompson
Barrel on High is a classic whiskey bar with a twist of unique charm. Among the flat screen TVs and decorative barrels are framed vintage alcohol ads and figurines of the 1992 U.S. men’s Olympic basketball “Dream Team.” In addition to the standard Old Fashioned cocktail or burger, you can order sweet potato pie made by co-owner Karrio Ballard’s grandmother, who lives in his Mansfield hometown. Ballard moved to Columbus at age 15 in pursuit of better opportunities. “That saved my life, because where I was at was a dead end, and I just was fortunate to realize that at a very young age,” he said. Ballard went on to study creative writing at Ohio State University, but soon realized college wasn’t the right path. “I just felt that I could do whatever it was I wanted to do without going into stupid debt,” he said. He put his writing talents to use as an MC, recording and performing at festivals and club gigs all over the country under the name Zero Star. “My music sounds like space,” he said. “Take that for whatever you want it to mean.” Aside from developing as a musician, Ballard also gained experience working as a bartender, eventually advancing to manager at popular campus bar Too’s Under High, which is owned by his good friend Scott Ellsworth. Ballard and Ellsworth had dreamed of going into business together for a long time, a dream they finally made happen by purchasing Barrel 44 in November 2014 and turning it into Barrel on High. “The reason I took the opportunity to buy a bar and venture into that was because it was something outside of the box,” Ballard said.
“After putting out music consistently and doing shows for 10 years, I think I’m entitled to be able to move on to something else and try and get good at that.” Music remains a significant part of Barrel on High, which hosts a monthly jazz and funk night. The bar also offers poetry and open mic comedy nights and more — truly something for everyone, as its clientele “ranges from 25 to 60” years old. “We do baby showers [and] graduations,” Ballard said. “My aunt’s 50th birthday party was here.” Ballard and Ellsworth are also committed to using local ingredi-
ents and serving local beer. They showcase artwork from Columbus artists in the bar, and many of their branded t-shirts highlight Ohio. The company website features pictures of the clothing, modeled by Ballard’s two-and-ahalf year old daughter, Addy, who also has her own Instagram account. She is shown doing the “rap squat” pose in multiple pictures taken by Ballard. “I’m silly like that. That’s stuff that I just do,” he said. But Ballard’s main focus is his business, and his goal is to have “a very cool bar.” Mission accomplished.

Aloecure Users Are Thrilled With The Results. ®
According to a leading aloe research scientist, the amazing Aloe plant has a powerful antiinflammatory effect. Aloe Vera calms the fire in your belly like it does the sunburn on your skin and in many ways helps heal damaged cells. Inflammation is your body’s first reaction to damage. So whether it’s damage that is physical, bacterial, chemical or autoimmune; the natural plant helps soothe inflammation — rapidly reducing redness, heat and swelling.
DOCTOR’S EVERYWHERE ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE ALOECURE®:
Drug companies are understandably upset since AloeCure® delivers quicker and better health benefits.

Company spokesperson, Dr. Liza Leal; a leading integrative health specialist out of Texas recommends AloeCure® before she decides to prescribe any digestion drug. Especially after the FDA’s stern warning about long-term use of drugs classified as proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec®, Nexium®, and Prevacid®. In a nutshell, the FDA statement warned people should avoid taking these digestion drugs for longer than three 14-day treatment periods because there is an increased risk of bone fractures. Many people take them daily and for decades. Dr. Leal should know. Many patients come to her with bone and joint complaints and she does everything she can to help them. One way for digestion sufferers to help avoid possible risk of tragic joint and bone problems caused by overuse of digestion drugs is to take the AloeCure®.

state of healthy bacteria that comes from your gut. The things happening in your belly today might be deciding your risk for any number of brain conditions- Studies have been ongoing since the 1990’s. New studies suggest that taking PPI’s at both low and high dosage disrupts a healthy human gut.

from Aloe Vera. But not the same aloe vera that mom used to apply to your cuts, scrapes and burns. This is a perfect strain of aloe that is organically grown in special Asian soil; under very strict conditions. AloeCure® is so powerful it begins to benefit your health the instant you take it. It soothes intestinal discomfort and you can avoid the possibility of bone and health damage caused by overuse of digestion drugs. We all know how well aloe works externally on cuts, scrapes and burns. But did you know Acemannan has many of other health benefits?...

By David Waxman Seattle Washington: Drug company execs are nervous. That’s because the greatest health advance in decades has hit the streets. And analysts expect it to put a huge crimp in “Big Pharma” profits. So what’s all the fuss about? It’s about a new ingredient that’s changing the lives of people who use it. Some call it “the greatest discovery since penicillin”! And others call it “a miracle!” The name of the product is the AloeCure®. It’s not a drug. It’s something completely different. And the product is available to anyone who wants it, at a reasonable price. But demands may force future prices to rise.
MUsiC
Big Pharma execs stand to lose billions as doctors and their patients abandon drugs like Nexium® and Prilosec®. Drug free remedy could put Big Pharma out of the digestion business.
