LOBBY HOP AT COLUMBIA COLLEGE CHICAGO

You did it. You’ve arrived. Welcome to Columbia! We’re so glad you’re finally here on campus. We know you’re eager to get acclimated to the place, and want to provide you with all the information you need to do so. This sheet contains a campus map for your reference (just flip it over) and descriptions of the 12 buildings you can hop to during the Lobby Hop time slots. You can start your Lobby Hop at any of our academic buildings or the Student Center, 754 S. Wabash Ave. This is a great time to “walk your schedule” and get comfortable navigating the routes to your classes. Lobby Hop hours are from 2–5 p.m. on these dates: Friday, August 26 Monday, August 29 Tuesday, August 30 Wednesday, August 31 Thursday, September 1 Need any questions answered? OUR BUILDINGS 1

33 E. Ida B. Wells This building houses our Communication, American Sign Language, Creative Writing, and Audio departments. It also includes our campus radio station WCRX, The Columbia Chronicle offices, the Academic Center for Tutoring, classrooms, and a 5th floor study space and computer lab.

600 S. Michigan Notably home to Columbia’s Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP) on the first floor, the Admissions office, the president’s office, the Photography department, and one of the equipment cages frequented by Film and Television students.

618 S. Michigan This building is unstaffed for this event due to construction in the lobby. If you have questions about this building, please visit 624 S. Michigan. Where you can find the Multicultural Affairs and Student Diversity and Inclusion offices, the Center for Black Music Research, Business and Entrepreneurship, Fashion, and current work from the Fashion department displayed in the windows.

624 S. Michigan Aka, the Library and Bookstore! Also includes elevators to access additional classrooms, great study nooks overlooking Michigan Avenue, the History, Humanities, and Social Sciences department, and many deep media archives.

623 S. Wabash Includes the HAUS performance venue, papermaking facilities, more classrooms, the Art and Art History and Design departments, the Science and Math department, and the college’s Digital Print Center.

754 S. Wabash, Student Center The centerpiece of our campus—a shimmering, airy hub for Columbia students to collaborate or do homework, visit the Career Center, stop by the gym, record in a professional sound booth, or grab a bite to eat, among many other things.

916 S. Wabash This building is home to our Interactive Arts and Media department, dance studios, Game Lab, and some animation production spaces.

1014 S. Michigan, Music Center From the rehearsal spaces, to a full concert hall, to a dedicated Digital Music Lab, Columbia’s Music Center has the space and tools you’ll need for making your music.

72 E. 11th, Getz Theater Center The Getz is furnished with four professional-quality stages, a state-ofthe-art scene shop, stocked costume shop, and dedicated makeup/ prosthetics and lighting labs.

10 1104 S. Wabash Home to Film Row Cinema, the open-layout multi-purpose Conaway Center, photography spaces, Glass Curtain gallery, and some Film and Television department facilities.

11 1306 S. Michigan, Dance Center Our Dance Center is hailed as one of the most important presenters of contemporary dance in the United States—NBD or anything. It also includes a 268-seat performance space, six studios with sprung wood floors, and dressing rooms.

12 1600 S. State St., Media Production Center Learn, collaborate, and create in this 35,500-square-foot, professionalquality media-making space with three film production soundstages, prep and production spaces, and classrooms.
