SHAPE WHAT’S NEXT IN SOUND AND MUSIC Creative careers are made here. Does creating and experiencing sound and music excite you? In Audio Arts and Acoustics, you study the art and science of sound. Because we’re one of the country’s only audio-specific academic departments, we think broadly about sound: It’s everything from using the right technique in the recording studio to measuring the acoustics in a performance hall to creating a laptop orchestra to creating sounds for gaming.

AT COLUMBIA, YOU CAN: Learn from sound professionals and creatives who will guide you as you explore major concepts and master techniques in audio production, live sound reinforcement, acoustics, music technology, and sound design. Engage in Chicago’s recording and audio community, where you’ll be well-situated for internships and career success after graduation. Our graduates work for major artists, music venues, and sound companies. Join our growing list of alumni who are recording engineers and producers, studio owners and managers, live sound engineers, sound designers, acoustical consultants and engineers, AV systems integrators, music technologists, and even audiologists.
