What is Plug ‘n Play Phone all about? Comfy's™ Plug ‘n Play Phone is an interactive and enjoyable platform that aims to enhance toddlers' listening and conversational skills. The characters on the screen address the child and invite him or her to a mutual interactive game. By speaking directly into the handset, the child will take part and influence various events that take place on the screen. The child receives an immediate reward for watching and listening to what is happening on the screen, and for responding correctly and at the right time. The children will watch over Buddy's carrot patch and will be asked to wake him up only when the hungry rabbit appears, by calling out "good morning!"; By saying "boom!", they will blow up balloons at the end of a party; By calling "peek-a-boo!" they will play 'hide and seek' with Feely; When saying "click!" they will take pictures of the friends dancing on the screen; When calling "go!" they will help the tractor driver cross a number of obstacles along the way, and much more. The game has three difficulty levels enabling the child to progress at his own pace while coping with gradual increasing challenges. As the level of difficulty grows, so does the demand for perseverance, coordination, timing, and listening to the events that occur on the screen.

How to use Plug ‘n Play Phone The Plug ‘n Play Phone handset communicates with its telephone base. It's important you position the Plug ‘n Play Phone properly so that the Plug ‘n Play Phone handset is able to "see" its base unit. For optimal performance, place the Plug ‘n Play Phone on a table and guide your child to point the bottom part of the handset in the direction of the base, just as you point the remote control at your TV. It's also important that you make sure there are no obstructions between Plug ‘n Play Phone handset and its base.

System Requirements: Processor: 1.4GHZ & above; OS: Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Win7; Memory: 512 MB RAM available memory; Hard Disk: At least 150 MB free space; CD-ROM Drive: X4; USB port; Additional requirements: Sound card, color display and speakers.

Getting started 1. Connect the USB cable to the back of the base unit at one end, and to the USB port to your PC at the other end. 2. Place the base unit on the table near and accessible to the child that's playing. Make sure there are no obstructions between the Plug ‘n Play Phone handset and its base. 3. Insert the game CD into your CD player. Follow the installation instructions displayed on the screen. 4. You are ready to play! Once the game is up, choose game level and click "Start Game". Important note: Make sure that the telephone handset is placed close to your child's mouth facing the base unit and guide your child to speak directly to the microphone placed on the handset.

Battery Installation Important Note: Batteries should always be installed by an adult. l

The battery compartment is located on the back of the handset. Loosen the screw in the battery compartment door with a Phillips screwdriver.

l

Remove the battery compartment door.

l

Insert two new "AA" alkaline batteries in the battery compartment. Follow the polarity (+/-) diagram in the battery compartment.

l

Close the battery compartment door and tighten the screw with a Phillips screwdriver.

Battery Tips (for best possible performance): l

In order to preserve battery life, it is recommended to place the handset in the base unit when not in use. Placing the handset in its base will turn it off when not in use by the child. We have also programmed Plug ‘n Play Phone to enter “sleep-mode if any of the buttons are not pressed for 5 minutes. Pressing the round purple button will resume the game.

l

For longest life and best performance use only alkaline batteries.

l

Remove the batteries during long periods of non-use. Always remove exhausted batteries from the product. Battery leakage and corrosion can damage the product.

l

Do not mix old and new batteries or different types batteries (alkaline, standard carbon- zinc or rechargeable nickel- cadmium).

l

Dispose of batteries safely. Do not incinerate used batteries.

l

Never short-circuit the battery terminals.

Plug ‘n Play Phone Game Level You can choose the most appropriate level for your child from the three levels offered to you when entering the game. With the increasing level of difficulty, the child is required to give exact responses and show persistence, coordinated and timed reactions, and more complex texts are brought to the scenes. Every child has his or her own individual pace. It is recommended to start at Level 1 and only when the child understands the instructions and is able to control the game, then it is recommended to move on to the next level of difficulty. At level 1 the plot is short and usually calls for a single vocal reaction for the game to develop. At level 1, the friends on the screen provide clear instructions on how to play the game. At level 2 the plot is more complex and longer, and calls for a higher level of persistence from the child. At level 3 the events are more complex and the child is asked to coordinate and cope with more complex events and scenarios.

Use your voice to play the game Feely is hiding - you can't see her face. Call out "peek-a-boo" and she'll pop out of her hiding place!

Boom loves to pop balloons and play and he had a birthday party today. There are lots of balloons in the room to pop them all call out "Boom!"

8

Buddy is tired and taking a nap. Call out "good morning" and wake Buddy up! The rabbit wants to eat his carrots one by one! Don't let him! Call out to Buddy, and have lots of fun.

Didi is skipping in the park singing: one-two-three... when boom! she falls and hurts her knee All she needs is a kiss from a friend and look how happy she is again!

Our tractor is running and ready to go. The driver wants to reach the orchard not too fast and not too slow. Help him to move and be on his way Say "go!" into the phone, it's fruit picking day!

Introducing Comfy™ Pedagogical House (CPH) Comfy™ Pedagogical House (CPH) is the research and development arm of Comfy™, responsible for accumulating all knowledge and information, identifying latest trends in child-development and learning processes, in order to implement them into interactive fun-learning products. CPH activities include research and field-testing, involving many experts from various fields, which together form the wide knowledge base for Comfy’s™ activities. CPH is the developer of Comfy’s™ unique 3C Developmental Cycle™ to encourage children's curiosity, while promoting and maximising effective learning.

Introducing Comfy 3C Developmental Cycle® The immediate effect that is seen when watching a child play with the Comfy™ system is the magic sparkle in his eyes lighting up his whole face. This is what we refer to as "Comfy's™ Magic Effect". This magical effect is created by the combination of Curiosity + Challenge + Confidence = 3C Developmental Cycle®

Curiosity Children are born with natural curiosity. At Comfy™, we expose young minds to a rich interactive environment in order to leverage their natural–born curiosity and take them through a journey of learning through play and exploration, enabling the development of new skills and thought-patterns.

Challenge By providing children with age-appropriate, rich and developmental content, we motivate and inspire them to utilise their capabilities to the fullest. Therefore, CPH has created a line of software for children aged 1-6 years old, developing motor skills, emotional intelligence, visual and spatial perception, creative thinking, vocabulary, languages and much more.

Confidence Comfy's™ products develop self-confidence by enabling the child to play independently - being able to control the activities as an active participant rather than a passive one. Acquiring this sense of control improves the child’s confidence and self-esteem and is the base for building a stable personality as well as healthy relationships.

Trouble Shooting The game was designed to react to a wide range of voices of a specific age group. Nevertheless, it is possible that a certain tone might not register by the receptor. If the game does not react to your child's voice, please make sure that the following steps are taken: l Verify that the USB cable is properly connected at both ends. l Check the batteries. They are most likely weak and need to be replaced with brand new 2 "AA" batteries. If the unit still does not work after changing the batteries, take them out and make sure you have installed them properly. l Make sure Plug ‘n Play Phone is placed on a table and guide your child to point the telephone handset directly to its base. l Check Plug ‘n Play Phone using your own voice. Speak to the handset after making sure the software is properly installed. l Make sure there are no obstructions between Plug ‘n Play Phone handset and its base.
