Rejuvenate that old swimming pond.

For decades not much had changed around the pond at the Smokey Hollow Day Camp in Lodi, Wisconsin. Just 30 miles from Wisconsin Dells, they wanted to position their camp as the go-to destination for active families to stop, stay, and play. With CRS, their pond and recreation area transformed into a valuable amenity and asset for the campground. CLIENT CHALLENGE

CRS SOLUTION

Differentiate from the competition by offering amentities and activities that attract and satisfy active families, increase camper occupancy and justify increased overnight rates.

Our thorough plan brought a number of commercial grade inflatables and other aquatic features to their pond. The product mix drew upon proven performers to generate the most entertainment value for the investment.

Bolster concession sales and per capita spending while increasing average length of stay per customer.

The pond became an attraction. The addition of the aqua park not only increased beach concession revenue considerably, it also increased sales of extended stay wristbands. Which meant customers were staying and playing longer than ever before.

Accommodate various age ranges in a way that will withstand the rigorous usage from a high guest count.

A careful assessment of Smokey Hollow’s demographics — number of users, age range, frequency of aquatic activity — led to precise recommendations of products.

The Grand Re-Opening at Lake Gregory in Crestline, California, was huge. But the beginnings were modest for the California Parks Company. Despite their close proximity to San Bernadino and its large population base, Lake Gregory had struggled to generate consistent revenue. Our partnership with them revitalized the lake and created a new aquatic destination.

Improve awareness of the small, underutilized lake and attract more local patrons and tourists to increase overall attendance and park usage.

Create Splash Island, an aqua park with strategic placement. It is highly visible from the main road, restaurants, and local neighborhoods, making it an excitementgenerating attraction for thousands of onlookers.

Significantly boost revenue at Lake Gregory and maximize the entertainment opportunity on their waterfront.

Introduce a special day fee. With the aqua park in place, this justifiable day fee to use the aquatic playground generated significant revenue for the park.

Successfully promote the lake under new management after the acquisition of Lake Gregory by the California Parks Company.

Rebrand the venue as “The New Lake Gregory.” The new aqua park allowed California Parks to capitalize on the buzz that Splash Island had generated with new marketing, promotions, and branding initiatives.

Offer campers something new and challenging to maximize waterfront programming, keep them engaged, and provide a memorable, meaningful camp experience.

We developed a comprehensive plan. We considered all angles — number of campers per week, age range, ability range, etc. — to select an ideal product set to meet these programming needs. And, our plan fit within Camp Modin’s stated budget.

Grow aquatic programming for the long term, but find a way to offer something that could offer the “wow” factor for campers right now.

Gradual implementation was key to be able to generate immediate buzz, but also stay on budget. Our plan brought products to the waterfront right away, and made sure they included modularity and durability to accommodate future waterfront expansion. Additions to waterfront programming are on-going and made possible by our gradual, comprehensive plan.
