Sundram Fasteners bags EV contract Statiq fast charging station

Sundram Fasteners has won its biggest EV contract in over six decades of its existence. The USD 250 mn contract from a leading global Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) is for the supply of sub-assemblies for its EV platform. The company in its outlay has earmarked ~ Rs.200 crore to support the new orders following a six-year-long purchase package. This involves the supply of input and stator shaft sub-assemblies and drive gear sub-assemblies. The subassemblies will be used in the EV models like MHEV/PHEV/ BEV, covering various segments including mid-size trucks. SFL will use special processes such as axial forming technology known to withstand extreme temperatures and rigorous durability tests besides meeting high torque requirements and silent operations. To fulfil the order, the company has worked out the supply chain such that parts will be shipped from its powertrain divisions located at the Mahindra World City in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, and Sri City in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh. The parts will be serviced from the company’s warehouse in North America. By 2026, the company hopes to supply 1.5 mn transmission sub-assemblies per annum.

EV charging network provider Statiq together with Nexus Malls has launched its first EV charging station in Amritsar at the Nexus Mall. Equipped with two fast EV DC Chargers of 60 kW each to charge all kinds of electric vehicles. Claimed to charge up to 80 per cent in about 40 minutes, the association marks the launch of 17 EV charging hubs across 13 cities such as Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Udaipur, Mangalore, Chandigarh, Mysuru, and Indore. The charging hubs will offer a combination of both slow and fast chargers to meet the charging needs of electric two, three and fourwheeler owners.
