THE SQUAT
Fingerprints
have never been easier!
by Sharon Green, CPT
Sometimes referred to as King of Exercise, the squat is a full-body fitness staple that works hips, glutes, quads, ¡ Walk-Ins Preferred! and hamstrings, as well as strengthens the core. Squats help improve balance, coordination, and ¡ Fast, Easy, & Secure bone density, plus they’re entirely functional! Here’s how to perform a safe squat: ¡ Located in Southfield 1. Stand with feet a little wider than shoulder-width, roll shoulders back and down ¡ Fingerprints in Less away from the ears. Note: Allowing the back to round (like a turtle’s Than 10 Minutes shell) will cause unnecessary stress on the lower back, so keep chest up! Cranbrook Center Building (next to Target) 2. Extend arms out straight so they’re parallel with Suite the ground, 30233 Southfield Road, #110, palms Southfield, MI 48076 248-385-1344 www.a1fingerprints.com info@a1fingerprints.com facing down (like your hands are on someone’s shoulders) or,Center if it’ s more Cranbrook Building (next to Target) 30233 Southfield Road, Suite #110, MI 48076 Hours: Monday - Thursday 9 each am- 6 pm, Friday 9 am - 4 Southfield, pm comfortable, pull elbows close to248-385-1344 body, palms facing other. www.a1fingerprints.com info@a1fingerprints.com 3. Initiate the movement by unlocking hips, slightly bringing them back. Keep sending hips Monday - Thursday 9 am- 6 pm, Friday 9 am - 4 pm backward as the knees begin to bend,Hours: as if you’re trying to sit on a distant stool. 4. Glance down at your feet-can you see your toes? If not, you haven’t brought your hips far back enough, all the while making sure chest and shoulders stay upright. 5. The best squats are the deepest ones your mobility allows, if you have the flexibility to do so comfortably. 6. Engage core and, with bodyweight in the heels, quickly straighten to standing, driving through heels. Down slow- up fast. Repeat. Count repetitions. If you like squats, put some weight on it: Beginners should start squatting with bodyweight only and up the ante only after proper form is achieved. When using more weight, initially make your squats more shallow, about 45°. As with all exercise, consult your doctor if there’s a concern. 0UV 6KDURQ *UHHQ LV D FHUWLÀHG SHUVRQDO WUDLQHU WKURXJK WKH 1DWLRQDO $FDGHP\ RI 6SRUWV 0HGLFLQH FSU DHG LQVXUHG JUHHQVKDURQU#\DKRR FRP 12

BS”D
Av, 5777 August, 2017 Dear Friends: For 28 years (koach!), Matan B’Seter Detroit (MBD) has been financially assisting local families and individuals who are struggling to make ends meet. Despite the economy’s repeated downturns, we have continued to offer substantial, meaningful aid to our neighbors who find themselves in severe financial stress. The Community’s needs for the dollars that MBD raises unfortunately continues to grow. Last year, MBD distributed $240,000 in varying amounts to 150 local families for expenses such as house payments and rent, food, tuition, car repairs, utilities, camp, clothing, insurance, and medical expenses. We also know, from the requests that we receive, that there are many more who need our assistance, and, even for those whom we have helped, we would have liked to have given more. A check has a very short lifespan when it has to try to cover many of the above items. With the Yamim Noraim coming, MBD is trying to help alleviate the added additional financial burden, as well as the day-to-day difficulties that arise from a lack of sufficient funds. We again remind you of the additional ways to donate to MBD. Please try to add $1.00 or more to your bill as often as you can when you shop at One Stop Kosher, Paper Goods Plus, Fit for a Kid, Jerusalem Pizza, and everywhere you see a Tzedakah Box bearing our colors. Last year, we collected substantial funds through our local vendors, whom we ask you to patronize. Friends of Matan B'Seter Detroit are also organizing demos and activities, for which your participation and donation are greatly appreciated. Mrs. Bracha Hochheiser sells donation/tribute cards on MBD’s behalf. Please consider buying the cards for Rosh Hashanah, a birth, a special occasion, or in memory of someone. You can reach her at (248) 968-7433. All the monies go to help our neighbors. If you would like to volunteer time, a talent, or ideas that could benefit our tzedakah program, please contact Mrs. Elisheva Stoll at (248) 327-6115. Ad paid for by a friend of Matan B’Seter

Why is it important? Why is blood sugar control so important you may ask? Diabetes can at times be a deceptive disease. Symptoms aren’t always obvious and people may remain undiagnosed for years. Blood sugar levels gradually rise and with the spike can come short and long-term problems such as hypoglycemia and severe blood vessel damage. Good thing Maxi Health has several solutions for blood sugar control. Maxi Cinnacaps Complex™ and Chromium Supreme™ are unique formulations that assist with the support of normal sugar metabolism. So, stay on top of your health and let us assist you in maintaining optimum blood glucose levels.
