Look for the common theme in the following stor ies:
A young father was widowed and left to raise his only son As his son lay in bed one night, feeling broken and alone, the little boy asked, “Daddy, where is Mommy?” The young father was not sure how to answer his son The boy kept asking the same question After a while the father brought his son to bed with him, tr ying to console him Finally, the boy reached out in the dar kness and touched his father’s face, asking “Daddy is your face toward me?” The father answered, “Yes, my face is toward you ” The boy said, “If your face is toward me, I think I can go to sleep now
The next stor y is about a twelve-year old boy who was in trouble at school He had no fr iends and was ver y unhappy Yet, he noticed a change in his father and he asked him about it The father said, Well, son, I was making a big mess of my life, and so I decided to ask God to take over and show me how to live my life That has made all the difference ” The boy told his dad he would like to do that also A couple of weeks later, he said to his father “Dad do you know what God has done? He’s changed ever y kid in my class!”
A fifth grade Sunday school class had been studying the Lord’s Prayer They were asked to paraphrase the prayer in their own words One of them wrote, in par t, Dear God, We have lear ned from Jesus that you are like a loving father and we are your children, brothers and sisters and that you are ever ywhere enable us to overcome the temptations of life and to do always what is good and loving Ever ything is yours and we want to ser ve you as your children, now and forever!” So let it be!
The common theme, of course, is that our God is faithful! When we are hur ting, God tur ns God’s face toward us When we mess up our lives God is there to change our lives for the better As God’s loving children, we can know God is always near to us
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for Your faithfulness In Your strong name Amen TO FAITHFUL FATHERS AND ALL MEN WHO HAVE HAD A POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON A CHILD, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
