Postgraduate Study in The School of Government and International Affairs “Being an international student coming to a new country can be intimidating, but SGIA made me feel welcome, supported and – most of all – excited to learn” Noah Schwartz (MSc cohort 2013-14) Welcome to SGIA… The School is one of the fastest growing departments of politics and international relations in the UK. Our masters programmes reflect the School’s mission to develop excellence in regional studies within the disciplinary contexts of politics, international relations and international political economy.

Our programmes are taught by world experts in their field, many of whom work closely with international organisations, policymaking bodies, and civil society networks to ensure that our teaching is research-led and relevant to the world our graduates will work in. Programmes are structured to allow students to tailor their learning to their own specific interests. Compulsory modules are combined with

choices from a wide portfolio of optional modules, with additional language and key skills training also being available. Master students are encouraged to participate in the extensive programme of research-based activities which take place within the School and through our collaborative partnerships with other research institutes, universities and public and private sector organisations.
