ELECTION SPECIAL

THEY’RE ALL IN

IT TOGETHER! The three main parties all support the same basic policies on May 3:

 CUTS IN PUBLIC SERVICES: The last Labour government planned £130 billion spending cuts. The Tory-LibDem coalition has added an extra £83 billion.  MASSIVE JOB LOSSES: Unemployment in Wales and Britain is heading for 3 million, including 1 million young people.  CUTS IN BENEFITS: Pensioners, single parents and the disabled have been hit, as well as the unemployed.

Spring 2012

FIGHT THE CUTS! TAX THE RICH! Only the Communist Party puts workers, pensioners, the unemployed, single parents and the disabled FIRST. Ahead of big business profits, the rich, privatisation and war.

 NO CONTROLS ON PRICES: While the gas, electricity, oil and supermarket monopolies make record profits.

That is why we OPPOSE all cuts in public spending, services, jobs, pensions and benefits.

 TAX CUTS FOR BIG BUSINESS: The Labour and Tory-LibDem governments have cut corporation tax far below the USA, France, Germany and Japan.

Britain is one of the richest countries in the world. But onetenth of the population own more than half that wealth.

 WASTING LIVES AND MONEY ON WAR: The three main British parties support the war in Afghanistan and more nuclear weapons for Britain.

A Wealth Tax on the super-rich would fund all the investment we need in public services, industry, housing, public transport and the environment.

AND IN MERTHYR, THE COUNCIL MAKING WORKERS PAY THE PRICE: Independent controlled Merthyr council has cut the pay and Terms & Conditions of their workers and made them take unpaid annual leave.

DO THEY SPEAK FOR YOU?

WE CAN AFFORD FIRST-CLASS PUBLIC SERVICES, PENSIONS AND BENEFITS by fair taxes on the rich and big business profits.

Merthyr Communists - A proven record Merthyr Communists were actively involved against the Ffos Y Fran opencast mine project, attending all meetings, speaking against the development at the public enquiry, picketing the site and demonstrating through Merthyr town and at the Welsh Assembly. Merthyr communists

also travelled to London and attended the court hearing at the "Law Courts" (Royal Courts of Justice) and won the hearing. Unfortunately, after a long battle against Westminster, the Welsh Government and Merthyr council the battle was lost.

in the victory against the Covanta's Brig Y Cwm incinerator plans. This campaign against the huge incinerator united people from all communities in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, people from all backgrounds and of all shades of political opinion, and demonstrated that ‘unity But Merthyr communists is strength’ were on the winning side
