Vote Tommy Roberts Merthyr Town Ward

Page 1

For the first time in many years you have the opportunity to vote for a Communist candidate, and what a time it is to show those in power that you are not prepared to accept "Bankers Greed" as an excuse to have your living standards reduced. Why should we have to bear the brunt of the cuts like £50 off the winter heating allowance for the under 80s and £100 off the over 80s? Why should we accept our Public Services being slashed so they can be sold off to big business profiteers? Why should we allow our young people to rot on the dole? The Tories and Lib Dems are determined to slash the living standards of ordinary people and instead of opposing them Labour have accepted the government’s strategy. The Independents are making workers take 2 1/2 days unpaid annual leave. I call it a lock out.

Communists will lead a fight back!'

2. Compulsory take-over of empty office accommodation. 3. Investment in the public transport system linking the town with outlying areas. 4. Council-led drive for investment in clean technology and an increase in recycling. 5. A council-led drive for jobs and facilities for disabled workers. 6. More funding for domestic violence refuges. 7. Higher council tax rates for top-band properties. 8. No more outsourcing or privatisation of council services. 9. Careful use of council reserves to protect jobs and services. 10. A tight cap on councillors' allowances and expenses. Merthyr’s communists support more democracy at street & community level, with real involvement in local projects.

Communist Policies for Merthyr

No Cuts! Tax the Rich

Your Communist candidate

What a shower! The four major political parties in Wales are all agreed that cuts in our public services are necessary. The Con Dem government and Labour before them have handed over fourteen hundred billion pounds of public money to the richest and most irresponsible sector in society - the banks, and now they want us to pay for it!

 We are seeing cuts in all front line provision from education to social services

 Cuts in emergency services such as the fire service

 Cuts in public sector wages and pensions  Cuts in benefits and the unconditional right to benefits

 Attacks on the most vulnerable in society

such as disabled workers and young people

A large part of the Welsh economy is in the public sector so these cuts are hitting Wales much harder than other areas of Britain and this is just the beginning.

You couldn’t make it up While public sector wages are frozen the top bosses are awarding themselves 50% pay increases. Yet they expect unemployed young people to work for free to help boost their profits. The bosses are even proposing cutting the number of bank holidays we have despite us having the least in Europe already.

None of this is necessary We are the sixth richest country in the world and easily have enough resources to provide

 jobs for all,  decent wages and conditions for all,  reasonable benefits and pensions for all  affordable quality housing for all

No Cuts! Tax the Rich!

Merthyr Council Election, Town Ward Thursday May 3rd 2012 Election Communication

 free education for all We need to stop subsidising the rich by allowing them to avoid paying tax, scrounging off the state when they go bust and abandoning the communities they locate in whenever they see somewhere cheaper to move to. We say that it is time the rich started to contribute toward society instead of ripping it off. We live in one of the most unequal societies in Europe because the major parties are more concerned with keeping the noses of the rich in the trough while the rest of us tighten our belts.
