Our design & production team are on hand to make sure that your advert is designed and fully approved. The cost for design and approval is included in the price of the advert. We are confident that we can provide your business with the publicity it requires. Talk to us about your advertising requirements and find out how we can raise the profile of your business in the local community.
Make your AD work We really do want your advert to work best for you and sometimes what you want isn’t what’s going to work so we’ve compiled a few hints and tips to get the best out of the space that you’ve bought within the magazine.
Keep it clean If your ad is busy it doesn’t work as well. The most common mistake that the client makes is to try and cram too much content into their ad and it can be detrimental to its effectiveness.
1.
The power of assumption: If your company’s name is John’s Fishmongers you don’t have to tell people again and again that you sell fish. They’ll know.
2.
It’s all in the timing: Remember that the reader spends on average 2 seconds glancing over your ad so if it doesn’t get them in that time it fails to work.
Bigger Is better but don’t cram it: The bigger your ad is the more impact it has. You’re much better not to fill it just because you have more space.
No bad pics.... Fuzzy, lo-res, grainy or out-of-focus images are detrimental to your advert. Taking pics on your phone do not constitute a print quality image and can make your company look amateurish.
1.
Let a pro do the work: The best thing to do is to get a professional to take them, not a pal with a good camera. It might cost a few quid but it pays off in the long run.
2.
A means to an end: If you don’t have professional photographer at your disposal then stock imagery can be used. It’s not perfect but it’s better than mobile phone camera pics.
Stockists have the stuff: If you’re the stockists of a certain product there’s a good chance that they will have good images that you can use. Just ask them.
Meet us half way We don’t know your business so we need to get some level of input from you. Sometimes that’s done best by popping into the office to speak the designer or communicating through emails.
1.
What tickles your fancy?: Have a look to see what other ads there are in our magazine that you like or have a peak on Google and let us know.
2.
Help us to see: We may not know the industry that you work in so we don’t know the faux pas’ and clichés. Best to give us a heads up.
We don’t know you: You have your own personal preferences for things like colour and imagery so don’t keep it to yourself. It saves everyone’s time if you just let us know. Thank You. -Editor, Moses Wilberforce Nti-Asare

SILT IN ODAW RIVER IS BEING REMOVED.
OUTSOURCING MANAGEMENT OF KIA UNTRUE
Work is on-going on the Odaw river to remove silt from it to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater to prevent the perennial flooding in the capital city, Accra.
The Aviation Ministry insists that claims made by the Minority to outsource management of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) are untrue.
According to the Minority, the Aviation Ministry received the proposal “to help bring about the physical development of the airport enclave.”

And on Tuesday, a Ministry spokesperson said “the participation of the private sector will bring about the needed equity investment for the transformation of the sector thereby making the KIA achieve competitive status within the West African Sub-Region and the continent as a whole.”
Mr. Adiepena revealed that over 1 million cubic meters of dredged materials had been removed from the Odaw drain since the company was awarded a two-year contract in 2016 to dredge the drain and the lagoon and also re-construct an interceptor to treat pollutant water.

Two days later, a press statement from the same Ministry notes that the Sector Minister has not yet been advised on what the best available options are in regards to ownership of KIA. “A broader consultation with key stakeholders in the sector will be part of the internal considerations in due course if an appropriate option is agreed,” the statement continues “The general public is hereby entreated to disregard news of privatization or sale of the Kotoka International Airport.” In 2016, KIA underwent a massive overhaul including the construction of Terminal 3, a five-level spread stretching across 45,000 metres of land. This incident took place at 7pm at circle very incredible. Yesterday, I reported the issue to the military intelligence at Burma Camp, so the lady was invited. According to the lady she boarded a VIP bus from Kumasi to Accra. As she was on her way to take trotro to dansoman, two men arrowed her one in front and one behind, the one in front hit her in the stomach and before she realized she was following them, through some structures around the station towards Vodafone until they entered a dark room. According to her there were people in the room including women and children all sitting on the floor. When they saw that she was in her menses they separated her from the rest. Then in her presence they grabbed a small boy about 8yrs and cut his penis off. She was led off from the room in between some structures to the road side and asked to go. So yesterday the operatives did some work on the ground to gather some intelligence for a possible swoop around that general area. So the short of it is that kidnapping is a reality, and we should advice our families to take certain precaution wherever they may be. Super, can also do his part by chipping in a word to advice the congregation on this kidnapping issue and how people should be cautious and alert wherever they may find themselves.

SMEs GETS COLLATERAL-FREE LOANS FROM BARCLAYS Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) can now access collateral-free loans from Barclays Bank Ghana—a member of the ABSA Group. The unsecured loan product by the African bank, among other things, scraps requirements such as offering a collateral and providing historical financial information before an SME can be granted a loan facility from the bank. SMEs are seen by most analysts as the productive drivers of economic growth and development worldwide, and particularly in Africa. In Ghana, they contribute about 70 percent to Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and account for 92 percent of businesses in the country. However, difficulty in accessing funds – brought on by poor recordkeeping, lack of collateral, and the reluctance of universal banks to design products for this allimportant sector – has served to constrain their growth. Speaking at an event held in Accra and themed ‘Best Practice Workshop’ organised by Invest In Africa, Head of SME Banking-Barclays Bank, Audrey Abakah, said the
decision to provide such a facility was arrived at due to the inability of SMEs to meet strict access to loan criteria or procedures. She added that it also part of the bank’s quest to assist promising SMEs to grow and expand so as to contribute in economic development.

She further stated that the bank has advanced this unsecured loan facility to about 500 SMEs since its introduction some three years ago.
The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has opened its maiden edition of the SME market fair in Accra, near Dansoman, in a bid to provide a platform for small businesses to showcase and market their products.

Commenting at the 4-day fair, CEO of AGI Seth Twum-Akwaboah said the decision to organise the event came from the fact that AGI wants to move away from only playing an advocacy role for local businesses, to introducing programmes that will provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to network and build up their clientele base. The Director of Value Chain and Logistics at the Ministry of Trade, Papa Kow Bartels, lauded the move by AGI and urged all SMEs to take advantage of it to grow their customer base. He further advised the SMEs to incorporate values into their businesses that will endear customers to them. “As an SME, you should do a lot of listening and think of introducing technology in your business. Be dependable and deliver on time. Always explain to your customers if you can’t deliver at the time you promised, because your credibility is as stake,” he said. Also at the programme was the Vice-President of AGI, Humphrey AyinDarke – who called on SMEs to show commitment and hard work, and produce high-quality products which can compete with imported ones. He assured them that the

TEACHING CHILDREN HOW TO COPE WITH LIFE’S CHALLENGES.
May, 2019/Issue 2
children develop helpful coping strategies? Associate Professor Frydenberg says parents can help children to cope by discouraging unhelpful strategies – like excessive crying, tantrums, blaming oneself and anger – and encouraging helpful strategies such as asking for help, saying sorry and staying calm.
Helping children to deal with worries and stress will help them grow into resilient adults. Just like adults, young children have worries that cause stress. Adults may worry about job security or a fight with a partner, while children may stress about a friend moving away or losing their favourite toy. But in much the same way as grownups, children who use positive coping strategies are more likely to work through their worries, reduce stress and bounce back from difficulties. And children who develop these helpful coping strategies are more likely to become resilient, mentally healthy adults. Who are the best teachers of coping skills for children? You guessed it: parents.
Why are coping skills important?
She says encouraging children to talk to an adult about their worries is particularly effective when it leads to conversations about coping. In fact, children as young as four and five have, on average, 36 ways of describweren’t, are an unavoidour work is that starting ing how they cope that able part of life. Keeping your kitchen clean Most of you know that I really love keeping our house clean. Cleaning your kitchen appliances is one of the important parts of that. I can not STAND to have a messy kitchen. It drives me crazy. If Mickey and I are up until midnight and are exhausted, I just cannot go to bed without cleaning our kitchen. I love to walk downstairs to a clutter-free kitchen in the morning, free of dishes, chaos, and mess. Today, I’m excited to partner with the community Adman to share some tips to have a beautiful kitchen filled with wonderfully (wellworking) appliances. Here is what I do to each appliance to keep it clean and organized: STOVE: The worst part about a stove is that the spills can become harder to re15

Avoid unnecessary stress It’s not healthy to avoid a stressful situation that needs to be addressed, but you may be surprised by the number of stressors in your life that you can eliminate.
Learn how to say “no.” Know your limits and stick to them. Whether in your personal or professional life, taking on more than you can handle is a surefire recipe for stress. Distinguish between the “shoulds” and the “musts” and, when possible, say “no” to taking on too much.
Avoid people who stress you out. If someone consistently causes stress in your life, limit the amount of time you spend with that person, or end the relationship Take control of your environment. If the evening news makes you anxious, turn off the TV. If traffic makes you tense, take a longer but less-traveled route. If going to the market is an unpleasant chore do your grocery shopping online. Pare down your to-do list. Analyze your schedule, responsibilities, and daily tasks. Reframe problems. Try to view stressful situations from a more positive perspective. Rather than fuming about a traffic jam, look at it as an opportunity to pause and regroup, listen to your favourite radio station, or enjoy some alone time. Look at the big picture. Take perspective of the stressful situation. Ask yourself how important it will be in the long run. Will it matter in a month? A year? Is it really worth getting upset over? If the answer is no, focus your time and energy elsewhere Adjust your standards. Perfectionism is a major source of avoidable stress. Stop setting yourself up for failure by demanding perfection. Set

Accra Community Magazine In such cases, the best way to cope with stress is to accept things as they are. Acceptance may be difficult, but in the long run, it’s easier than railing against a situation you can’t change Don’t try to control the uncontrollable. Many things in life are beyond our control, particularly the behaviour of other people. Rather than stressing out over them, focus on the things you can control such as the way you choose to react to problems. Look for the upside. When facing major challenges, try to look at them as opportunities for personal growth. If your own poor choices contributed to a stressful situation, reflect on them and learn from your mistakes. Learn to forgive. Accept the fact that we live in an imperfect world and that people make mistakes. Let go of anger and resentments. Free yourself from negative energy by forgiving and moving on Share your feelings. Expressing what you’re going through can be very cathartic, even if there’s nothing you can do to alter the stressful situation. Talk to a trusted friend or make an appointment with a therapist.
Get moving When you’re stressed, the last thing you probably feel like doing is getting up and exercising. But physical activity is a huge stress reliever—and you don’t have to be an athlete or spend hours in a gym to experience the

Healthy Relationship Boosters Even healthy relationships can use a boost now and then. You may need a boost if you feel disconnected from your partner or like the relationship has gotten stale. If so, find a fun, simple activity you both enjoy, like going on a walk, and talk about the reasons why you want to be in the relationship. Then, keep using healthy behaviours as you continue dating. If you’re single (and especially if you’re a single parent), don’t worry if you need a boost too! Being single can be the best and worst feeling, but remember relationships don’t just include your significant other and you. Think about all the great times you’ve had with your parents, siblings, friends, children, other family members, etc.. Try going out with the people you love and care about the most — watch movies together, go out to eat, take a day off from your busy life and just enjoy being you! If it helps, also talk about your feelings about the relationships in your life. If you just want them to listen, start by telling them that. Then ask what makes relationships good and what makes them bad?

Adom FM Music Chart (Week 16): DJ Mic Smith’s ‘Jama’ pushes 'Omo Ada' from number one spot The reign of Medikal’s ‘Omo Ada’ at number one on the Adom FM Music Chart has come to an end. The number four song in week 15 ‘Jama’ is number one. This DJ Mic Smith’s song featuring Patoranking and Shaker has been running up and down the charts since its first appearance on it. The climb of this song to the number one spot proves how much Ghanaians love their morale ‘jama’ songs. Senior high school students, university students, corporate people at outdoor events, everyone have their versions of jama. Hence it is not surprising to see fans fall in love with DJ Mic’s song. Its popularity has kept it in the top five for a long time. For six weeks, ‘Omo Ada’ has been number one and its constant play around the country made people love it the more. But, the Medikal song has been dethroned and has taken over the second spot. ‘Kpo Keke’ by Stonebwoy gets to keep the number three spot. However, the regular play of the song across the country may push the song back to the number one spot. Since its release, the song which features Medikal, DarkoVibes, Kelvyn Boy and Kwesi Arthur has already topped the charts six times. ‘W’asue Me’ by Obaapa Christy has moved back up into the top five. The song which was at number six has taken the fourth position. ‘Nothing I Get’ by Fameye made it to number two in week 15 after its third appearance on the chart. The song at number five this week only shows Ghanaians love for this song is still strong. At number six is ‘Don’t Be Late’ by Kofi Mole. Okyeame Kwame’s ‘Bra’ has moved from number 11 to number seven. ‘Chochomucho’ by Bless is at number eight and still in the top ten. Many fans of this song for some reason cannot believe they missed it in 2017 until it resurfaced last year. It is still getting a lot of airplay and does not look like it will die soon. ‘Mr. Badman’ by KiDi is two steps up from week 15’s position. The song is at number nine. Ohemaa Mercy’s ‘Onim Me’ has also moved up to the tenth spot. Three moves up from its previous position. DJ Vyrusky’s ‘Baby’, has dropped to number 11. The song features Shatta Wale, KiDi and Kuami Eugene. Sarkodie’s 2019 release ‘I Know’ featuring Reekado Banks has also moved from number five to twelve. ‘Walaahi’ by Kuami Eugene is at number 13. At number 14 is Dada Hafco’s ‘Fall Down’. Samini’s ‘Rainbow’ is climbing the charts steadily. This week it is at number 15. Debuting on the chart this week at number 16 is ‘Sure’ by Dadie Opanka featuring the 3Music’s ‘Music Woman of the Year’ winner, Adina. Also making a first appearance on the charts at number 17 is ‘Bad Energy’ by Guru featuring Kwesi Swat. Week 16’s third debut song is Kontihene’s ‘Tricks’. The song is at number 18. Fancy Gadam’s ‘Only You’ featuring Kuami Eugene is holding on to the number 19 spot. ‘Strong Bond’ by DJ Bridash featuring Yaw Berk and King Maaga, is at number 20. ‘Never Again’ by Kofi Kinaata featuring Shatta Wale made an appearance on the charts in week 15 for the first time since its debut but it could not stay. Medikal’s Ayekoo has also dropped out of the charts. It looks like the journey of ‘Love you die’ by Andy Dosty featuring Kuami Eugene on the charts has ended. Join Andy Dosty this and every Saturday at 12:30 pm, on the Adom Chart Show on Adom FM, to find out if ‘Jama’ by DJ Mic Smith will still hold on to number one or be dragged down 24 To advertise call 0573568118 or Email thecommunityadman@gmail.com Read online https://www.issuu.com/communityadman

(6) They are always awake even at the dead of the night just to make sure that their children are protected.
(7) They can even sell out their cloths just to buy food for their children, and also see them smiling.
Women are the most wonderful creatures I have seen on Earth, but am yet to understand why some men are busy finding faults upon faults on them!!! lets look at them this way and tell me if am lying. (1)
Women are the only creature that can change their original surname just for the sake of love.
(8)
They are always ready to sacrifice their lives just to save the lives of their children. (9) They are always in the kitchen inhaling the smoke without complaining, just to prepare something for their children and husband to eat.
(2)
They are most easiest creature to convince.
They are the only creature that can abandon their biological family and start up a new home with a stranger.
(3)
They are the only creature that loves from the bottom of their hearts.
Even when they are battling with the pains of pregnancy, yet, they are busy looking after their husbands and children. e.t.c .
(4)
They are the creature that can prefer to go to bed with an empty stomach, just to make sure that their children feeds well.
(5)
They are the only creature on Earth that cries very easily, just to expose their inward disposition.

If you love your mother and you appreciate what she did and is still doing for you just take a second to say "I LOVE MY MUM"
