Granted, the association between coffee consumption and mortality is not all that great—up to 12% in men and 16% for women who drink four to five cups per day. In fact, there is research to show that coffee drinking may help protect against type-2 diabetes. Interestingly, caffeine does not seem to play a role since decaffeinated coffee provides the same benefits.
