Thanks from the Rotary Club of Northborough
To the Editor:
The Rotary Club of Northborough wishes to thank all the businesses and organizations that contributed to this year’s scholarship drive.
We planned our 49th Annual Scholarship Pancake Breakfast for March 29, 2020. This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic we were unable to hold our event. But thanks to the generous contributions of local merchants we will be able to award the same number of scholarships as last year.
Each year the Rotary Club seeks help to support local students who are heading off to college. By purchasing an advertisement on our Scholarship Pancake Breakfast placemats, local businesses and organizations are able to give back to the community by helping create a scholarship fund for deserving Northborough students. They also receive public recognition for their support. All proceeds, less costs, go directly to scholarships that aid Northborough students in furthering their education, collectively with support from our local businesses,
The Rotary Club has awarded, over the past 49 years, scholarships totaling over a quarter of a million dollars.
Next week in this newspaper you will receive a Pancake Breakfast placemat. It is printed on two sides and lists all the businesses and organizations that contributed this year to our scholarship fund. We are so thankful for their support. Please consider visiting these businesses as they reopen.
Thank you all,
The Rotary Club of Northborough
Thank you to Sir Loin Catering
To the Editor:
The residents of Colonial Village would like to express their gratitude to Sir Loin Catering in Northborough.
For over a month, Sir Loin Catering has been providing the residents of Colonial Village with packaged meals at no charge. Twice a week, meals are picked up and then distributed to the residents. The meals have been delicious and varied. They are greatly appreciated.
We thank Sir Loin Catering for their generosity and for being wonderful Northborough neighbors.
Thank you,
The Residents of Colonial Village
Thank you for support of BC4T
To the Editor:
Thank you to The Community Advocate for publishing Liz Nolan’s recent contribution explaining the BC4T (Boros Cares 4 Troops), created in 2015. We readers appreciate you calling our attention to their combined admirable efforts commending and thanking our veterans with care packages. We sincerely applaud Leslie Arsenault, Karen Brewster, Beth Davison, and Michelle Gillespie for honoring veterans and for providing care packages to active deployed military.

NORTHBOROUGH – Corridor 495 Chamber of Commerce President Karen Chapman addressed the Board of Selectmen at their April 27 meeting to discuss funding resources available to small businesses who may be struggling as a result of COVID-19.
“These are unusual times and it has been very important for me to stay in communication with your town leaders and it’s really important for us to continue to communicate to the business community at large all the financing that’s available for them,” Chapman stated.
“The small business community has taken a huge hit,” she added. “We as a chamber

have constantly been communicating to our members through the channels that we have through our mail marketing and social media about what we can do to support them and a lot of that has been about the financing relief programs.”
She referenced the federal Payroll Protection and Economic Injury Disaster Loan programs, noting that both have been depleted quite quickly.
“The money is going to be gone quickly so we are continuing to work with Congress,” Chapman assured the board.
She urged everyone to lend their voice of support by contacting legislators to let them know more funding is needed for their small business members.

“They are getting hit hard and they are not able to get all the money that is available to them and we are going to continue to rally for that support,” she noted.
The chamber has been able to offer free webinars to those who want to learn about the programs available and they will continue to disseminate information to the community. Other programs offer guidance on how to run a business through a pandemic and managing stress and anxiety.
“If you are not a member of the chamber currently, it is $20 to participate in any program,” Chapman said. “If you want information and to get on our emailing list I invite any business in the
community to contact us…. We are here to support any business whether you are a member of the chamber or not at this time.”
She announced a social m e d i a c a m p a i g n c a l l e d “Northborough Business Strong” that is in the process of being rolled-out.
The board was very appreciative of all the efforts made by the chamber.
Selectman Tim Kaelin said that if you have the ability to buy things, to get take-out, purchase gift cards and to tip, please do so.
“The most important thing to these small businesses is cash,” he said.

God, grant me the SERENITY to ACCEPT the things I cannot change; COURAGE to CHANGE the things I can; and WISDOM to know the DIFFERENCE,
Living ONE DAY at a TIME; ENJOYING one MOMENT at a time; ACCEPTING hardships as the pathway to PEACE; taking, as HE did, this sinful world, AS IT IS, not as I would have it; TRUSTING that HE will make all things right if I surrender to HIS WILL; Serenity Prayer
