WHO’S COUNTING?
I
t has been said that a person is only as old as he or she feels. After all, it is possible for a 65-year-old in good physical shape with a positive attitude to be “younger” than a sedentary person half as old with a poor outlook. Scientists seem to agree. Recent research suggests that age is defined by more things than merely the number of years a person has been alive. It indicates that a person’s true age is more accurately defined by taking certain factors into account such as health, cognitive function, disability rates, and perceived age. According to a Danish study, the younger-looking sibling of a twin set tended to outlive his or her older-looking brother or sister. NOTRE DAME LONG TERM CARE CENTER encourages our senior residents to feel young! We provide an upbeat atmosphere, and offer a wide variety of activity and entertainment options. To learn more, contact us today at (508) 852-3011. You are invited to tour our conveniently located senior community at 559 Plantation Street. We’re here for you! P.S. These days, a person who is 65 years old may be more like someone who was 55 years old 45 years ago in terms of important aspects of their lives.

Seniors Helping Seniors®
S
eniors Helping Seniors® provides nonmedical, in-home care to local seniors provided by other local seniors. It is a simple, but unique business model - active seniors, who are retired or semi-retired, provide help to other seniors who need a little help to remain as independent as possible. We see this as a win-win situation both for the caregiver and the one who receives care. We know how important it is for everyone, at any age, to have something meaningful and important to do. We also know that providing care also has a positive effect on the mental and physical well being of the caregiver. Our senior caregivers are all employees who work very flexible, part-time schedules, are insured and have been CORI background checked. The value to the one receiving the care is that they are spending time with someone who has a similar history and who can also understand what they are going through now. We say it is a way to give and to receive. We provide a full range of services in-

The desire to have a positive impact on the world seems to grow stronger as we age. We give our senior caregivers the opportunity to have that kind of an impact because we know that no act of kindness is too small. We also believe that we have the best part-time jobs available.
