BUCKINGHAM LITERARY FESTIVAL IS BACK! FRIDAY 24TH TO SUNDAY 26TH JUNE 2022

2022 will be the fifth year of what has become one of the major cultural events of the area.

After taking a break for the last two years due to Covid, The three day event, which takes place from Friday 24th June to Sunday 26th June 2022, will bring an exciting mix of talks, discussions and entertainment to the beautiful market town of Buckingham.

We are delighted to welcome Louise Candlish who is the Sunday Times bestselling author of 15 twisty, compulsive novels, including Our House, 2019 British Book Award – Crime & Thriller winner and now a major ITV drama starring Martin Compston. International bestseller The Other Passenger, a Richard & Judy Book Club pick, is also in development for the screen, and her new bestseller is The Heights. Louise grew up in Northampton, and now lives in London.

We also welcome Clare Mackintosh who is the multi-award-winning author of four Sunday Times bestselling novels including Let Me Lie and her latest, Hostage. Her first three titles were all Richard and Judy Book Club picks. Translated into 40 languages, her books have sold more than two million copies worldwide, been New York Times and international bestsellers and spent a combined total of 50 weeks in the Sunday Times bestseller chart. on current affairs. Most recently he made it to the semi-finals of a year-long national spoken word competition. His work can be found online in digital pamphlets and YouTube videos, where he goes by the title of the Dragonfly Poet.

These are just a few highlights from a packed programme of events for all ages. There will also be a special, standalone event on 7 June -The Joy of Science - with popular BBC presenter and quantum physicist Jim Al-Khalili.

There will be the opportunity for the audience to question the authors, meet them in person and get their books signed.

‘This is the fifth Buckingham Literary Festival and we are thrilled to have once again attracted such a high calibre of speakers. The Festival has been growing year on year and we’ve been delighted to see it become one of the highlights of the summer. With the opportunity to meet some of the UK’s most celebrated authors, well-known politicians and with topics ranging from politics and history and from crime fiction and popular science. There really is something for everyone!’

Local poet, Poet and lyricist Dean Jones was elected the first Bard of Buckingham in October 2019 and has since composed over 300 poems.
