Neal Trup, director of Neal Howard, hosted a live webinar session delivering valuable advice and support for social enterprises during this challenging time. Neal Howard was established in 2014 as a business consultancy company that specialises in social enterprises and the community sector. He advises voluntary and community organisations on strategic and sustainability issues, business planning, social enterprise, community assets, governance, training and turnaround. Neal is also a member of the Charities SORP Committee. Local authorities, parish councils, charities and community groups are being encouraged to apply for extra financial support from Western Power Distribution as the company launches its ‘In This Together Community Matters Fund’. This £500k fund intends to support communities affected by the coronavirus outbreak within WPD’s operating region, by helping local organisations to deliver vital support and services directly people in vulnerable situations. BARCLAYS HAS ANNOUNCED A £100M £100 M ‘COVID COVID-19 -19 COMMUNITY AID PACKAGE’’ PACKAGE
Distributed through the newly established Barclays Foundation. £50m will be donated to charities working to support vulnerable people impacted by Covid-19 and up to £50m will be in the form of matching personal donations made by Barclays’ staff to local charities.
FOOD SECTOR LOAN PACKAGE
The LEAP small emergency loan programme provides critical funds to the food sector during the Covid-19 crisis.
RESILIENCE AND RECOVERY LOAN FUND
Big Society Capital and Social Investment Business have announced The Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund, which will make more than £100m in loans and investments available to charities and social enterprises over the coming months. The fund aims to support organisations which may not qualify for other government funding schemes, but which are seeing their trading and cash flow disrupted by coronavirus.

OTHER NEWS MILLIONS PROMISED FOR CORONAVIRUS FUNDING FOR FRONTLINE CHARITIES Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced a £750 million package of support for charities across the UK to ensure they can continue their vital work during the coronavirus outbreak. Government departments are currently working quickly to identify priority recipients, with the aim for charities to receive money in the coming weeks. The application system for the National Lottery Community Fund grant pot is expected to be operational within a similar period of time.
HOST A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE CONSULTANT Want to host a Social Enterprise Consultant for 2 months to help you between April & June? Due to an increase in new sign ups for their flagship programme, The Immersion Programme SocialStarters have space for 4 new social ventures to host a part-time remote working Consultant from 27th April (or sooner if required). This opportunity will give social enterprises, ethical businesses & sustainable ventures two months of hands on deck business growth expertise to help them figure out how their business thrives after the lockdown. CREATIVE PEOPLE AND PLACES PROJECT Our role is to increase the opportunities to enjoy and participate in the creative arts and heritage in Sedgemoor.
