I wouldn’t be where I am without her, and I wouldn’t love my future major as much as I do if she wasn’t my teacher.

Favorite High School memory: Eating outside for lunch with my friends. There’s nothing quite like enjoying the weather and spending your short break with the people who bring you the most amount of joy in the world.

Career plans: Research of new materials, especially clean energy and the environment. Planned college activities: Cornell Marching Band. a dance troupe (specifically a tap group).

My brother Sam. He is two years older than me so I was able to watch him do everything first growing up, and he set a good example. Sam never seems scared to try new things and is great at pursuing what he wants. He is very creative which makes him a great composer and at making up stories. He always thinks of creative solutions to problems I don’t believe are solvable, and he’s funny.

Favorite High School memory: Conducting the marching band home show my senior year. It was exciting to see the show from a new perspective. It was also amazing to be in front of such a great group of people and have all the sound and drill directed towards me.

My sole anticipation revolved around one simple pleasure: dinner. As soon as the session adjourned, my companion and I made our way toward a ramen store, aching for the comforting taste of warm noodle soup amid the freezing weather.

The cool breeze brushed against my face as I navigated through the new city, prompting tears to well up in my eyes. “So this is it,” I thought. “This is what college will be like.” I relished the novel sense of independence, venturing out into the night with just my friend by my side.
