Top Producers Make Their Mark in Mercer County Over the past year the members of the Mercer County Top Producers Association completed 2,137 transactions, with over $861 million in total sales volume. The MCTPA comprises the best agents from many of the local real

estate firms — all of them recipients of the prestigious New Jersey Association of Realtors (NJAR) Circle of Excellence Award. Their commitment to professionalism, performance, dedication, and service to the customer are top priorities. Their purpose is to offer home buyers and sellers the highest level of service available. When hiring a Top Producer, you are also tapping into the experience of all 83 agents; their monthly meet-

ings give them the opportunity to share their expertise and techniques with each other, announce new listings, and listen to real estate-related professionals who keep them educated about the latest laws, practices, new products, market trends, and new technology. This ultimately helps make the many steps of their clients’ home buying and selling process a satisfying experience, and seamless for both the buyer and seller.

At the end of each year, the Mercer County Top Producers donate money to local charities, such as HomeFront, Ryan’s Quest, Toys for Tots, and the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank. If you are looking to buy or sell a home, be sure to call one of these top agents in your area. www.topproducersmercercountynj.com. See ads, pages 8 & 9.

Donna Lucarelli: Keller Williams Princeton The West Windsor-Plainsboro market is hot hot hot and no one knows it better than Keller Williams Award Winner and Top Producer, Donna Lucarelli. With 19 years of experience, Donna has her finger on the “pulse” of the community. She has been a local resident of West Windsor/Princeton Junction for 34 years. She and her husband, Rocky, have raised their children, April and Steven, here and enjoy their three grandchildren as well in our community. Donna was a special education teacher in West Windsor-Plainsboro, Princeton Hopewell, and Trenton. She loves teaching and that is why it was so easy to make the transition to real estate. “What do I do every day? I educate my clients so they can make their own educated decisions,” Lucarelli says with a smile. Donna’s expertise is in pricing homes that sell for the highest possible price or over asking price. Since 2008 when the stock market crashed, to the current date, she has been able to get her clients an average of 100 percent list price to sale price ratio. How does she do this? “I am passionate about helping my clients. My knowledge of the market and educating myself constantly bring these results to my clients,” she says. Selling a home is very stressful and she can bring these results in an average of 32 days. “I also love working with first time buyers. As a resident of the community, I am a valuable source of information to them,” Lucarelli says. “I love helping them find their dream home. It is so exciting when I see their faces light up and they say, This is the one! Then I go ahead and negotiate for them and they win the house! What an exhilarating experience this is for all of us.” There is no question Donna Lucarelli loves her work as a Realtor, but it is just in her being to help others and bring happiness to them. She says she thanks God for giving her the wisdom and patience to meet all her clients’ needs. She adds that a sense of humor is also what you need. You need to laugh to get through a stressful time. It helps ease the stress. Donna has won numerous awards during the 19 years of Real Estate. New Jersey Association of Realtors Distinguished Sales Award 2014 and every year from 2004 to 2017. She has also won Triple Gold Awards from Keller Williams and has been a top producer in her of-

fice of 210 Agents and also in the Region. She is also a member of the top producers in Mercer County and sits on the Executive Board. Donna loves to give back to the community. Recently she was a gold sponsor of the Mayors’s ball. West Windsor honored the West Windsor Police Department for 50 years. This was a fundraiser event for police to get a drone. And she was happy to help support this effort. “God put us on this Earth to help one another,” she says. “I love helping others.” Here is what some of her clients have said about her. “You are one in a million that every buyer or seller wants or needs.” “We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the extraordinary service you provided to us. You sold our house in one day for over asking price.” (West Windsor) “Just wanted to take a few moments to thank you for the wonderful, professional service you gave to us. Who would have thought that six weeks ago, we had no intentions of moving, and here I am sitting in my beautiful new home. Then you went and sold our home for full price in three days. “I know this didn’t happen by magic but rather the time you took to prepare our home, advertise with professional photography, on so many sites and with such detail was amazing to us. Most important to me was that you told me what needed to be done to sell our house and in most cases, took care of the chores for us. You are amazing. We wish you the very best because you give the very best.” (West Windsor) “We to thank you for employing such a phenomenal woman and thank you Donna for living up to your word. She deserves all the accolades one can bestow upon her and we are thrilled that she has been a part of our life. What a gift to your organization, her family, and West Windsor. (West Windsor) “Donna was great. She sold our house in record time for more than we could have imagined. She was great providing names of repair/ handymen for items that needed fixing. She even found us a buyer for our old house furniture. She had a buyer that was purchasing nearby and needed to buy furniture. They ended up buying 75 percent of our furniture. Donna was great to work with providing feedback , encourage-

ment, and always being available to us anytime we called or emailed. She really gives 200 percent of herself.” “Words cannot express your professionalism, passion for excellence, knowledge of the market, and friendship you brought to us. You sold our home for over asking price and then negotiated so diligently for our dream home. You have become our friend for life! (Plainsboro & West Windsor) “I met Donna 10 years ago at an open house. Her charisma and dedication were so impressive that I saved her card and called her when it was time to sell my home. Donna listed my home on Tuesday and by Friday, I had not one but two full-price offers. Donna approaches her sale like she is representing a relative. She is truly genuine and goes above and beyond for her clients. Her negotiating skills and experience brought in a sale price well over asking. Donna is truly genuine professional and highly recommended. (Hamilton) Donna says thank you to all those who have used her services. “I truly

RE/MAX Tri County: Women Who Move Mercer What do you get when 14 highly motivated real estate professionals come together to give back to the community that has helped them realize their business success? In the RE/MAX Tri County Agency in Hamilton Township, they are called Women Who Move Mercer! The original idea actually surfaced a couple years ago, but really took off at the beginning of 2017, with a concerted effort made on the part of several members to develop a more clearly defined mission statement, purpose, and focus, which is best articulated on their Facebook page: “We are a group of strong successful women in the real estate world. We came together as a group to share ideas but more importantly we recognize the need to give back to the communities that have supported our success.” The results of this renewed effort have been a benefit to the people living in the cities, towns, boroughs, and villages of Mercer County in the form of charitable giving, assistance, and outreach that has helped people from all walks of life

throughout the community. What is particularly striking about Women Who Move Mercer as a group, though, is the energy and passion they bring to the challenges they take on. Sitting down to talk with members of the group in the office of RE/MAX Tri County on Route 33, I could actually feel the electricity in the room as they talked about what they’ve done, and what they plan to do in the future, for the community in which they work. From in-person efforts to help at food banks, like the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK), to helping re-

plenish the pantry shelves and donating backpacks at the Wilson Neighborhood Center in Hamilton; to helping local animal shelters by collecting food and blankets that were much needed, to helping Shine and Inspire as well as Recovery Advocates. The Women Who Move Mercer are currently collecting gently used coats of all sizes for TASK. They are ready to help, and through their passion and determination when taking on a challenge, they make sure that what they do will make a real difference in people’s lives.

As part of their efforts, they have enlisted the help of clients, colleagues, business partnersm and a variety of community and government agencies. Needless to say, nothing much stands in their way once they decide they want to make something happen As they talk about what’s next, the obvious is to work in any way they can to try and brighten the holidays for those less fortunate as Thanksgiving and Christmas get even closer! But as a testament to their commitment, passion, and business acumen, they know full well that the issues that need to be addressed when it comes to helping our neighbors and friends in Mercer County don’t stop once the holidays have passed into memory. When many others may have moved onto other priorities, the Women Who Move Mercer will continue to look for ways to lift up the hopes and lives of the people of Mercer County through 2018 and beyond. If you would like to take part in any of the important and meaningful initiatives sponsored by Women Who Move Mercer, you can go to the their Facebook page, or simply contact any of the members by calling RE/MAX Tri County at 609-5879300. See ad, page 13.

Cranbury Design Center Top Tips for a Laundry Room Redo Many of our clients complete a laundry room makeover as an adjunct project to a kitchen or bathroom renovation. Is a new laundry room on your home improvement wish list? If so, here are some key considerations as you begin the planning process. Multi Purposed? How will your laundry room function? Is it the entrance into the house from your garage? Does your laundry room also serve as your mud room, where you store and drop off the kid’s sports equipment, school bags and shoes? Or is it an overflow pantry space for kitchen items. Will the laundry room also act as “pet central” where you bathe your pets and store their items? Are you a gardener who uses that extra sink in the laundry area for potting plants and cleaning up garden supplies? As you can see, the laundry room can serve many purposes! Seen or Secluded? Another important consideration is the location of your laundry room. Is it on the first floor, in the basement or on the

second floor, where most of the dirty clothes are located? Will your laundry room contents and activities be seen by guests or closed off in a private area? Depending on when and how you do your laundry the location will be a factor. A second floor laundry can be noisy if laundry is done at night. A window may be on the wish list if you want natural light while doing laundry during daylight hours. Other Considerations. Other important considerations for your laundry area include the type of washer and dryer you are going to install. Will you use the newer front loaders, or traditional top loading washer and dryer. Stackables are

also an option if you are short on space. Will your dryer be electric or gas. Having the proper hook ups are key and those hook ups should be directly where the machines will be placed. Countertop space is crucial if you have a large amount of laundry to fold, and remember, there are so many materials to choose from. Also plan for hanging space if you have a lot of non-dryables in your wardrobe. Extra storage space for brooms and cleaning supplies, a large utility sink, and a wipe-able paint for the

walls are also things to keep in mind.  For more information on what you need to consider before taking on that laundry room renovation check out these additional articles: Article on Houzz.com: www. forbes.com/sites/ houzz/2016/03/19/how-to-remodelyour-laundry-room/#504e011cb087 Article on Thisoldhouse.com: www.thisoldhouse.com/ideas/readyou-redo-your-laundry-room. Sam is very proud of his son. “It wasn’t supposed to be.” Dennis was a biology major who was waitlisted for medical school. He decided to stay with the company because he realized he truly enjoys the work. “He has been a tremendous asset to me and our customers,” Sam says. Dennis attended PennCo Tech in Bristol, Pa., and

graduated with the “top tech” award. He, too, is NATE-certified. Prior to owning his own business, Sam worked for General Electric, which became the Trane Company. With Trane, he traveled to different manufacturing locations in the country and developed his HVAC design skills. He is a recognized leader in designing and installing complex HVAC systems for residential and commercial applications. “In the residential market, our

project could involve the replacement of a small HVAC system or the design and installation of a 14,000-square-foot home.” His largest project for a private home included 12 heating zones, 10 cooling zones, and more than 8,000 linear feet of radiant floor heat. Sam started his business 21 years ago. “I started the business from my home, with one truck and a desire to succeed. Eventually, I had a couple of employees. When my son joined the company, I decided to take the business to the next level. We’ve grown tremendously since then.” Today their building has a fully staffed office and warehouse. “Our business model is simple: it all comes down to service and quality. The customer knows who they’re dealing with.” Indoor Air Technologies is proud to be both a Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer and a Trane Comfort Specialist Dealer. Callaway Henderson Sotheby’s 75 Cleveland Lane: Urban Estate Living at Its Most Sublime Luxury meets history in this elegant fieldstone residence located in the heart of Princeton’s illustrious Western Section. An extraordinary restoration by New Jersey-based Grant Homes imparts a distinctly modern sensibility to the compelling architecture of this Johnson & Johnson legacy home, a Normandy manor masterpiece designed in 1925 by celebrated architect, Ernest Flagg — whose resume includes having designed the 47-story Singer Building in Manhattan, the tallest building in the world at the time it was constructed. The incredible renovation preserved the notable home’s unique architectural details and kept its core exterior appearance, while im-

ay Jones sells high-end hardware and plumbing for homes or well-appointed businesses. His store, Home Hardware Designs at the Glen Roc Plaza in Ewing, sells faucets, sinks, bathtubs, toilets, medicine chests, matching sets of front-door knobs, hinges, and locksets, but not the ordinary ones you’d find in big box stores or in a tract home. Some drawer handles are hand-pressed brass from England, as they have been for centuries, he said. “Your hardware is the jewelry for your home. It ties the whole thing together. It’s like when you hang a picture on the wall. It’s really the frame that finishes it,” Jones said. These items don’t just do their jobs, such as opening a door or shutting off water. Their materials, finishes, lines, textures, and craftsmanship establish the ambience of a home or business, Jones said. Jones said the business is natural to him, as his family owned a hardware store in upstate New York and his father built custom homes. “It’s in my blood,” he said. The most important ingredient of his business is good customer service, therefore he does not sell out of a catalog or over the Internet. He displays 40,000 cabinet knobs, 500 door knobs, and hundreds custom

compatible. Even the humble faucet can make a decorative statement, Jones said. “I can do silver. I can do gold. This is Swarovski crystal,” he said, pointing out the highlights of a wall of faucets. “Then we can take a new faucet and make it look 200 years old

a vault, and a stunning den with a soaring, 6-foot copper sheathed fireplace mantel. Every single detail of the dream-worthy Christopher Peacock kitchen dazzles and delights: an island of Calacatta marble with walnut prep area, chef-caliber appliances, and beautifully appointed butler’s pantry. Each of the five bedroom suites features its own sumptuous bathroom, including the master sanctuary with a marble bath, fireplace, and 700-square foot private terrace. Perched above the five car bays, the renovated carriage house offers the ultimate “flex” space for a guest apartment, art studio, or office. Equidistant from Philadelphia and Manhattan, close to major airports, prestigious Princeton University, the area’s finest shops and eateries, this is urban estate living at its most sublime. It used to be that if you dropped a brand-new faucet it was ruined, now it sells for more money,” he said. Satin nickle and bronze are a popular material, now, which Jones attributed to its antimicrobial properties. A 2004 study by the University of Southampton found MRSA bacteria died much sooner on a copper surface than stainless steel. Another art-inspired option is a ceramic bowl-style lavatory mounted atop a wrought iron stand with wall faucets. One floral-patterned model had a sink stopper in the shape of a turtle. Other choices include sinks of onyx, marble, or travertine. Another model is hollowed out from mesquite wood reclaimed from a previous use. Bathtubs include ones with options for colored water or tiny holes in the bottom for effervescence. Jones said you might not think that porcelain convenience, the toilet, could be improved upon. However, the Neorest by Toto has a heated seat, a remote control, and a sensor that “knows” when the user approaches. “It performs all hygiene functions. Let’s leave it at that,” Jones said, pointing to discreet, yet descriptive, diagrams. Home Hardware Design, 192194 Scotch Road, Glen Roc Shopping Center, Ewing. homehardwaredesigns.net. 609-883-5353.
