New Transportation Law "MAP 21": For Buyers and Sellers of Transportation This webinar will discuss the requirements of MAP 21 transportation law and the effect of it on buyers and sellers of transportation. Attendees will learn how to ensure compliance with this new law and avoid penalties and fines. Why Should You Attend: Effective 12/1/2013, every buyer and seller of transportation is subject to penalties and fines for brokering transportation without a Property Brokers License (49 CFR 371.2). The Department of Transportation (DOT), and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), will enforce the provisions of this new law, and fine violators (those without License) up to $10,000/ act of transportation. Shippers – (purchasing and traffic managers as well as licensed brokers who are also “shippers” within the meaning) are liable to fines if they are a party to an illegal brokering of freight. Motor Carriers – their agents and bona fides are barred from brokering freight they are in possession of, to another motor carrier. The motor carrier has to obtain a license and bond to broker freight. Interlining is severely restricted. This webinar will discuss how the new law “Map 21”, affects buyers and sellers of transportation. So if you are one of these types of companies attend this webinar and learn how to avoid fines for non-compliance.
