Our journey continues in 2010 with outstanding concerts featuring superb soloists in exciting programs. We welcome back cherished and much-loved artists – including pianist and conductor Howard Shelley in his 25th year with the TSO – and introduce a wealth of new talent. Howard Shelley 25th-Anniversary Concert oward Shelley has forged a special H relationship with Tasmanian audiences since making his TSO debut in 1985 – be part of the celebrations to mark 25 years of breathtaking concerts by this inspiring musician.
Viennese Classics Savour Mozart’s exquisite Elvira Madigan concerto – performed by celebrated pianist Piers Lane making his TSO debut – together with an early Haydn symphony, Brahms’ eloquent homage to Haydn and a superb Schumann rarity.
Grand Concertos Tchaikovsky’s dazzling Violin Concerto – here performed by master musician Feng Ning, who enraptured TSO audiences in 2009 – complements Bartók’s vivid and colourful Concerto for Orchestra, a masterwork of 20th-century music.

Q. Are there any special benefits to fixed package subscribers?
A. Y es, there are two distinctly different ways of attending TSO concerts.
A. Yes, fixed package subscribers can access discounted single ticket prices (Pricing Schedule 1) for any additional concerts they may wish to attend, either when subscribing or subsequently. Please identify yourself as a FIXED PACKAGE subscriber to TSO Box Office if purchasing later in the season.
1. S ubscribing – within this category one can purchase a fixed package (see Pricing Schedule Table 3); or have the flexibility of becoming a “Compose your own” package subscriber (minimum 6 concerts per individual) (Pricing Schedule Table 1). 2. Purchasing single ticket prices (Pricing Schedule 2).
Q. Are there different types of fixed packages? A. Y es, the following fixed packages are available for the 2010 season:
Hobart
1. Master + Matinee (16 concerts) – this is the complete Master series combined with the complete Matinee series – for the subscriber who does not wish to miss a single one of the TSO’s full-scale core concerts.
2. Master (12 concerts) – the complete Master series of evening concerts.
3. Matinee (4 concerts) – a mini series for those who prefer to enjoy an afternoon time-slot.
4. Family Classics (4 concerts) – a family-friendly introduction to the joys of classical music. Launceston
1. Master + Special (6 concerts) – this comprises five traditional symphony concerts plus the Special The World of Rodgers and Hammerstein featuring Stars of the West End. 2. Master (5 concerts) – the complete core symphony series as performed in Launceston.
Fixed package subscribers also retain the same seats if renewing to an identical package and submitting their booking form before the closing date for this category (25 November).
Q. Do flexible package subscribers retain the same seats? A. No, although we will do our best to ensure flexible package (“Compose your own”) subscribers are allocated seating as close to that which they have been allocated in the previous season, we cannot guarantee any particular seating for this category of subscriber.
Q. I wish to support the TSO by buying tickets, but am unable to commit to specific dates at this point. Is there anything for me? A. Yes – by purchasing a TSO voucher (minimum value $200, available in increments of $100) you can redeem it for concerts of your choice at your leisure. This entitles you to all the benefits of being a flexible package subscriber.
Q. Can flexible package subscribers also access discounted single tickets? A. Yes, there is a discount (approximately 5%). The prices are not published in this brochure.

Q. Are there other benefits which apply to all subscribers? A. Y es – all subscribers enjoy significant savings compared to the price of single tickets. For example, purchase a full Master and Matinee Series package and save up to 20% on the cost of a single ticket. They also access the following:
Priority seating Season ticket holders receive booking priority for all TSO special events.
Complimentary programs Receive free of charge the informative program booklet for each of the Master and Matinee concerts booked. Please present your program voucher at the concert.
Complimentary ticket exchange For subscribers taking a package of 10 or more concerts, all ticket exchanges (up to a maximum of 10) will be processed free of charge.

How to Book
If you are renewing your package
Missing tickets
Please fill in the personalised renewal form included with the brochure. If you have not received your personalised renewal form, please call 1800 001 190.
If you misplace your season tickets please contact the TSO Box Office to arrange replacements. If you forget your tickets on the day of the performance please come to the Box Office at the venue one hour before the concert and you will be issued documentation to enable you to gain access to the concert.
If you are booking a package for the first time Please fill in the booking form included in this brochure. Select the type and number of fixed packages you would like, or if you are booking a flexible package please write down the number of tickets you require in the boxes corresponding to individual concerts (see Table 1 for prices).
Concessions Full-time students, Australian social security card holders and Veterans’ Affairs pensioners are eligible for concession package prices. Seniors Card holders are not eligible for concession prices except in the Matinee and Family Classics series. To claim a concession, please enclose photocopied proof with your booking form.
Seating preference If you are booking for the first time please indicate in which section of the hall you would prefer to be seated.
Ticket exchange As a season ticket holder you can exchange tickets to any equal value seat at any concert in the TSO season, subject to availability. Each ticket exchange incurs a service charge of $5.50. (NB: subscribers purchasing individual packages of 10 or more concerts are exempt from this charge.)

Terms and Conditions Processing of season ticket applications Seating will be allocated strictly in date order of receipt within each season ticket category. The categories are prioritised as follows: • Renewing fixed package season ticket holders • R enewing fixed package season ticket holders requesting seating changes • N ew applicants for fixed package season tickets • R enewing flexible package season ticket holders without changes • R enewing flexible package season ticket holders requesting changes
Other important information The following are the general terms and conditions applying to the purchase of tickets to TSO performances. By forwarding a season ticket application, it is understood that you have accepted the terms and conditions. If you acquire tickets on behalf of anyone else you will be deemed to have agreed to these terms on your behalf as well as agent for them. • T here will be no refunds or exchanges except as outlined in these terms and conditions. • A ny advertised ticket prices are valid until 31 December 2010.

• T SO reserves the right to vary, substitute or withdraw advertised programs, artists, venues and seating arrangements.
Requests for a seating change must be in writing and lodged with the subscription renewal form. Changes, where possible, will be done in strict date order of receipt.
• T SO is not liable to you for any claims, damages, compensation, losses or expenses as a result of a TSO performance being cancelled, postponed or changed.
Payment by cheque, money order or credit card must accompany your application, or cash if your application is lodged in person at the TSO Box Office in Hobart (Federation Concert Hall, 1 Davey Street – in the Hotel Grand Chancellor complex).
• Y ou acknowledge you are responsible for your own safety and property, and the safety and property of any person accompanying you.
Flexible payment option You can pay for your season tickets by credit card in five equal instalments. These deductions take place on the 15th day of every month commencing in February 2010, and concluding in June 2010. Please indicate on the booking form if you wish to take advantage of this option.
