Boilers
If your boiler is more than 10 years old, it may well not be a condensing model. A condensing boiler has a secondary coil in the exhaust gas so that the Latent Heat of Vaporisation can be recovered.
Gas
If your present boiler is SEDBUK band G (around 60% efficient) and you have no controls (Room Thermostat or Cylinder Thermostat) then we can help by adding controls, and TRV’s and along with a 90%+ efficient boiler you could be saving upto 35-45% of the cost of your fuel bills.
Advantages
• Modulation modes will ensure your boiler does not overshoot the desired temperature of the water.
• Add a main house Thermostat, or
Cylinder thermostat to makes sure excess fuel is not being used to heat beyond the required temperatures. • Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) will make the system more controllable.
• Remove black iron deposits to make the system more efficient and will remove cold spots in radiators.
Oil
As with Gas boilers the seasonal efficiency (SEDBUK) rating can be low, so a change to a 90+% efficient boiler and changes like an S or Y plan fully pumped system can save 35-45% on your property fuel bill.
Biomass
Biomass systems generate electricity and heat by burning or fermenting organic material, such as straw or wood pellets, with a combined heat and power plant.
Advantages
• Pellets or wood chip are a cheaper fuel than either gas or oil.
• Modern biomass boilers are as controllable as the present range of oil/gas boilers. • 7-year repayment called the
RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) designed to repay the owner for moving away from a fossil fuel.
• The property will be much nearer to being Carbon Neutral.
Heat Pumps
With gas boilers banned In new homes from 2025, that’s 170,000 new homes built each year that will need to rely on a renewable energy source. There are different types of heat pumps available:
Ground Source Geothermal and ground source heat pumps - Use low-level heat naturally contained in the ground to provide both heating and cooling. These are fitted on the side of your building.
Combined heat and power Use a CHP system to capture the heat produced by your electricity to heat your water. Water Source Hydroelectric power generates electricity from the water flowing through an immersed turbine or water wheel. These are site-specific but can provide a reliable energy source.
Air Source
Air source is probably the most common type of heat pump. The air source system however will be less effective for heating in Modulation modes will ensure your winter since the air temperature can become boiler does not overshoot the desired very cold. A back-up heater in the form temperature of the water. of a conventional electric heater is usually included within the heat pump package. This Add a main house is far more necessary for air source systems, Thermostat, or Cylinder thermostat and usually controlled automatically. to makes sure excess fuel is not being used to heat beyond the
