Welcome Back from the

Secondary Principals Welcome back! As usual, the beginning of the school year is very busy. G6 had their first field trip, G8-10 had their bonding trips, G11 the DP retreat, and G12 the College Applications trip. Plus, Week Without Walls is just around the corner and this year we are back to taking Grades 9 and 10 overseas (Cambodia and China respectively). G11 has been raising money for their School Build which will take place this year after a three-year absence. We’ve not only been busy but a lot of transitioning has been going on as well: G6 students and parents getting used to being in the Middle Years Programme (MYP), G9 students adjusting to being in high school where suddenly the grades have become real, and G11 students adapting to the pace and rigor of the Diploma Programme (DP). We also have new teachers getting to know our students, the community, and Thai culture. Fortunately, our Admin team remains the same to help guide everyone through the transitions. We should be able to run our full athletics program, as well as all our after-school

activities this year. Volleyball, basketball, football, and golf have already had matches and it looks like we are underway to retain the AISSA Cup (League Champions for Varsity sports) that we won last year. By the time you read this we will have also had our musical production, Mamma Mia! Here we Go Again completed. And speaking of musicals, students in both instrumental and choir will have special performances planned for our community later in the school year. I was looking through the calendar to see when things would slow down and it doesn’ look like they will! We have a full schedule of activities and events throughout the entire school year. It should be a fun and eventful year, please join in and enjoy everything we have planned for the community. I’m looking forward to working with everyone to make sure our students are not only academically successful but actively challenged outside the classroom as well. Mr. Bill Berry Secondary School Principal

Each year, the school opening is always an exciting moment for the whole school community! This year we finally could be “Back to Normal” as we have done in the past for many years. The classrooms are open and there are no more requirements for wearing masks and social distancing. Many school community members have been working hard to ensure a smooth opening of school for students and their families. While teachers are engaged in collaborative meetings to create and refine a challenging curriculum, we see students moving in between classes with smiling faces. It’s really nice to be back, learn and grow together. Ms. Sally Wen Secondary School Principal

and connections within our school's learning and teaching community. Interdisciplinary learning, as a focal point of our educational approach, extends beyond just grade-level Interdisciplinary Units (IDUs) and is integrated into the delivery of MYP subjects. Our dedicated and creative educators will continue to work collaboratively, exploring every way to establish meaningful interdisciplinary connections for our students.

Welcome back to another wonderful school

year! This year promises to be one filled with exciting explorations and accomplishments! Our commitment to enhancing the initiatives from previous years remains unwavering, as we strive to foster greater collaboration

In addition to our well-established standalone service program, Service as Action will serve as another potent tool, enabling us to bridge the gap between real-world issues and the engagement of our students in their subject-based learning and projects. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Targets will not only be addressed within students' service projects but will also be carefully woven into their subject-based learning experiences whenever possible. Following a comprehensive year of systematically implementing Approaches to

Learning (ATL) in the MYP, our educators have engaged in thoughtful reflection and refinement to ensure an even more structured and effective approach to foster students’ skill acquisition and development. At the heart of our educational goals, student agency remains a top priority. We are dedicated to further enhancing this aspect of learning through the continued use of the Student Learning Diary. As students continue to add their incremental achievements to their personally curated e-portfolios of this year, we expect to see the development of a comprehensive showcase of their accomplishments, both within and beyond the classroom, which will be celebrated at the student-led conferences (SLC) in April next year. This year holds great promise as we embark on these exciting educational journeys. Let’s strive to create a dynamic and enriching environment for ALL once again! Secondary

Back to School Event On September 27 , the Secondary School hosted its th

Back to School event for parents. In the afternoon, starting in the Grand Theatre, parents met the school Admin and leadership team. Each Head of Department had a chance to briefly introduce their department team members to parents. After the initial meet, students were able to lead their parents to classrooms of the many different subjects they have this year. By meeting the teachers and visiting the classrooms, parents had an opportunity to physically see how their child’s learning is progressing and supported.

Aside from meeting the teachers and visiting the classrooms, parents could also opt to watch videos of teachers to learn more about them and to grasp a picture of the curriculum in MYP and DP. We would like to have this new format of “Back to School'' to provide options of meeting the teachers and knowing about the curriculum. It’s exciting to re-connect with people from the same school community!

Welcome Back from

Middle School Student Government (MSSG) Dear Concordians, Greetings from the Middle School Student Government! We would like to welcome all new students and faculty to our vibrant community. This year we are finally back on track after the Covid-19 pandemic. Our spirits are higher and we are ready to enter the school year with a new energy! This year our intention is to bring about new changes and traditions to our school community. This year, the Middle School Student Government is aiming to create new engaging activities and make some changes to activities done last year to make them even better. We are planning to make house competitions more important, and fun for all students. This year there will be more to the house competitions than just athletic competitions, such as Dodgeball, Basketball, Capture the Flag, Football, etc., we plan to add academic house competitions as well, so look out for those. We also aim for Spirit Week during Halloween, Christmas, and other holidays to have even more creative challenges and activities for students to participate in. Overall, we are all very excited for an even better school year with more opportunities for all of you.

This new academic year holds boundless opportunities, challenges, and experiences waiting to be embraced. Together, we will navigate the paths of learning, personal growth, and community building. Our collective efforts will shape the future, not just for ourselves but for the entire school. May this year be filled with memorable achievements, deep friendships, and a strong sense of purpose. Let's support one another, inspire greatness, and strive for excellence in everything we do. We have every confidence that, together, we will make this year a resounding success. So, let's seize the opportunities, overcome the challenges, and create a year to remember. Sincerely, Kenta (President) Sureen (Vice President) Mr. Kyle and Ms. Ederlene (MSSG Advisors)
