We loved styling this lemon and gelato themed 5th birthday, inspired by the Amalfi Coast. When designing the layout, it was about the details, authenticity and working with my client to bring her vision to life. The vision was to transport the guests to a seaside restaurant on the Amalfi coast, a “Summer in July” by the sea.

The Cottesloe Beach Hotel was the perfect venue, with function and event spaces overlooking the ocean. The unique beach themed room was selected for the party. To create an Italian seaside we styled the space with crates of fresh lemons, lemon trees, gelato and lemonade carts and lemon and white balloons. We also created an interactive beach play area and a lemon themed Italian restaurant and picnic area.

When guests arrived they walked along pathways of beach sand, where the children could take off their scarpe (shoes) and play with buckets, spades and beach balls, or pretend play at the gelato cart. There was also a face painting station where guests could choose themed designs. While the children were entertained parents could relax at the seaside bar where traditional Italian beverages were being served, and a fresh oyster bar had been set-up.

Keeping with the theme, the children’s entertainers were dressed in gorgeous outfits, and entertained the children with singing dancing and games.

The stunning birthday cake was a themed chocolate pinata smash cake. As guests gathered around they were surprised with a traditional Italian accordion player entering singing “That’s Amore” followed by Happy Birthday as the birthday boy smashed his birthday cake spilling out sweets, mini pizza and lemon lollies. To finish the party guests ate gelato ice cream, and received custom designed themed treats. h
