Ralitza Toneva Ralitza Toneva is a stage and costume designer since 2007. She works for theatre, dance productions, and films. Ralitza is also designing sets, costumes, and light. Her latest works are exclusively based on light design. Some of the performances she’s done lately are: “Neon” by Garage collective, ”The Boy From The Last Row” dir. Kris Sharkov, “Perfectly pink” by Iva Sveshtarova. Since 2011, she and Spartak Yordanov have collaborated to develop a specific visual technique, similar to painting under the camera. They also experiment with video and live performance, interacting with musicians and poets in the projects “MacroStation”

Stanislav Pamukchiev graduated in Mural Painting from the National Academy of Art, where he is now a professor. His works have been exhibited in over 50 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria, Austria, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, the USA, France and Belgium and in numerous group exhibitions. He is the winner of the 1st Class Order of Saints Cyril and Methodius in 2016; The national award “Vladimir Dimitrov – Maistora” in 2015 and Zahari Zograph Award in 2004 and the Grand Prix of International Painting Triennial in 1996.

Petya Boyukova Petya Boyukova works as a stage and costume designer for theatrical performances. Her latest projects are “Happy Beckett” and “Shopping & fucking” with director Mariy Rosen. Petya has been nominated for the Bulgarian Theater Awards – ASKEER in 2013 for Stage and Costume design for the performance “The eyes of others.” Together with the director Mariy Rosen, Petya works for several projects in site-specific theatre including “Shopping and fucking.” She takes part in national and international festivals and exhibitions. She is an Assistant Professor and Ph.D. candidate at National Academy of Arts in Sofia.

Chavdar Ghiuzelev is one of the most prominent Bulgarian visual artists in recent decades. His works cover graphic design and illustration for VOGUE, VANITY, MAX, etc., photography, painting, and others. As a scenographer, he has worked with many renowned Bulgarian theatre directors such as Stefan Moskov and Yavor Gardev. His work has been produced in Bulgaria, Italy, and Germany, among others, and he has been nominated and has won different awards.

Svila Velichkova Svila Velichkova is among the most interesting and innovative set and costume designers in the field of drama and puppet theatre in Bulgaria. Velichkova graduated from the National Academy of Art in Sofia. Right after graduation she started working in the puppet theatre in Sliven. She has also worked in other countries – Serbia, Italy, Germany, etc. Along with the director Tedi Moskov, she worked on the TV show “The Street” and is a costume designer for his movie “Rhapsody in white” (2004). She has been nominated and won several awards.

Venelin Shurelov graduated in Scenography from the National Academy of Art in 2004. He is a co-founder and lecturer in the master’s program “Digital Arts” there. Also a co-founder of DA Fest – International Digital Art Festival, founder of “Subhuman theater” and art group “Via Pontica”, co-curator of the National Pavilion Scenofest of the Prague Quadrennial PQ 15. His projects are diverse and include drawing, interactive installation and performance, scenography, digital technologies, video and art theory. His work has been presented in Bulgaria, Europe, and the USA. He has been awarded numerous awards for his work in the field of theatre and contemporary art.

Elica Georgieva Elica Georgieva has done numerous scenographic and costume designs for Bulgarian and international projects, some of which have received prestigious awards. Elica has worked for various theatres in Bulgaria. Some of the recognition for her work includes the award for stage design at the National Festival of Small Theater Forms – Vratsa 2009 for “Flame” by DT Rousse, directed by Alexander Berovski and 2017 for “Vasa Zheleznova,” directed by Margarita Macheva. Winner of IKAR 2013 together with Venelin Shurelov for the performance “Cancun” DT ‘Stoyan Bachvarov’ Varna. She is the inner of ASKER 2014 for the costumes of “Photocameras” at the Vazrazhdane Theater.

Since 2013, Marina is a member of the OISTAT Executive Committee.

Rin Yamamura was born in Kanagawa, Japan and works in the field of illustration, set design in cinema and theatre – drama and puppet. Rin graduated from NATFA “Kr. Sarafov” in the class of Prof. Maya Petrova and won a scholarship for 2 years (a program for the education of Japanese artists abroad, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture in Japan). For three years (2015-2017) she taught at NATFA . Rin is part of the art group “Via Pontica.” Together they create street performances and installations and present them at theatre festivals in Bulgaria and other countries in Europe.

Yuliana Voikova-Naiman Yuliana Voikova-Neiman is a scenographer and costume designer. Stayko Murdjev graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) – Bachelor in Directing (2004) and Master degree in Theatre arts (2017). Antonia Popova Antonia Popova works in all aspects of scenography. Between 2002 and 2019, she designed more than 60 theatre and operatic productions in most theatres in Bulgaria and Macedonia. She has designed the Bulgarian participation in the EUROVISION song contest in 2007, 2008 and 2016. Antonia’s work in films includes the art direction of Bulgarian films such as “Benzine” and “Smart Christmas.” Also, she is a visual and special effects artist at Nu Image Bulgaria and Nu Boyana Film Studios. Antonia’s work has been presented in every PQ edition since 1999.

Ivailo Nikolov graduated Scenography for puppetry from the National Academy For Theatre And Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov” in 2011. He creates in the field of puppet and drama theatre. Nikolov has worked on over 30 performances together with Iva Gikova in Bulgaria and abroad. Together with her he was awarded for Best Scenography in Puppet Performance in 2017. Ivailo Nikolov participated twice in the students’ exhibitions at PQ.

Iva Gikova

Iva Gikova graduated Scenography For Puppetry from The National Academy For Theatre And Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov” in 2011. She works in the field of drama and puppet theatre and has over 30 successful projects in Bulgaria and abroad in partnership with Ivailo Nikolov. Together with Nikolov she won the award for Best Scenography in Puppet Performance “Ikar” 2017. Gikova participated twice in the students’ exhibitions at PQ. Petya Karadjova

Petya Karadjova, Ph.D., works primarily in drama theatre, but also in puppetry, photography, painting and devised theatre. She has worked on numerous productions for different state theatres in Bulgaria while taking part in various exhibitions as well. Petya has been part of different creative laboratories, most notably the Rhodopi Theatre Collective (2005-2007). Some of her recent works include “Optical Illusions” by D. Harms and “Immigrant’s Paradise” by Dimitre Dinev. Since 2017, Petya Karadjova teaches at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Art in Sofia.

Evgeniya Surbeva graduated in Scenography from the National Academy of Art. Stanimir Genov graduated with a BA and MA in Painting from the National Academy of Art in Sofia. Between 2007 and 2012, he was primarily interested in installation, video, and sound. In 2011, the director Ani Vaseva invited him to work on the scenography for her theatre play “The Blue Room.” In 2012, he took part in designing the scenography for “Cosmonaut” and “Golem” by Anna Dankova. Following a solo exhibition „Paintings“, Stanimir returned to painting as his main medium. So far, his work has been presented in numerous solo shows in Bulgaria.

Leda Ekimova graduated in Fashion from the National Academy of Art in Sofia in 2004. She works in the area of conceptual visual and sound arts and works with the following media: drawing, sculpture, photography, video, installation, performance, situation, text, voice, instruments. Nikolay Panayotov graduated in Murals at the National Academy of Art and later worked with frescoes, mosaics, murals. He has had numerous solo exhibitions and participations in group exhibitions all around the world. He established the “Art Space” cultural center in the village of Stokite in Bulgaria. As a scenographer, he collaborated with director Plamen Kartaloff and video artist Georgi Hristov on “Wagner’s Ring Cycle” at the National Opera and Ballet in Sofia – the first full production of the Ring cycle on the Balkans, with great international success.

Vasil Rokomanov graduated from the National Academy of Art in Sofia and is a professor there teaching history of scenography, technology of scenography, scenography for puppet theatre, theatrical anthropology, etc. He has a Ph.D. in arts and fine arts. He is a member of UBA, UNIMA, OISTAT. He is the set and costume designer of 100 puppet performances in Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Bosna and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Belgium. Vasil has been part of more than 30 exhibitions in Europe, USA, Cuba, Mexico, Japan, etc. as well as the Prague Quadrennial.

Silva Bachvarova

Silva Bachvarova graduated from the National Academy of Art and in 1984 she specialized “Visual theatre” in France. Silva teaches scenography at NATFA “Kr. Sarafov” and painting in the National Academy of Arts. Silva has more than 25 individual exhibitions in different countries and has made 120 designs for performances (in and outside Bulgaria). She has around 30 prizes among which Golden Dolphin, Buratino, Pierrot, IKAR, etc. Silva is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Painters and UNIMA.

Zlatna Mihaylova is a full-time traveler and an explorer of the visual field of stage and performative practices. Boris Deltchev studied at the École nationale supérieure des beauxarts in Paris. In 2000, he created “The Vrai-Faux Design” – a team of artists, working together on big scale site-specific artworks mainly in private residences. In their work, there is a curiosity of discovering the private side of the contemporary Occidental world. The Vrai-Faux team’s work has been often commissioned by designers. Boris Deltchev is a Van der Kelen graduate awarded with the Gold medal of the Painting Institute in Brussels. Most recently, he worked with the Bulgarian theatre director Ani Vaseva.

Emiliyan Bonev

Emiliyan Bonev is a young Bulgarian designer and a landscape architect, co-founder of the brand “EXIT.” He creates innovative products in the field of interior design, sports accessories, cinema, and stage props. His versatile talent and experimental style with new materials have lead him to innovative forms in his work. His latest work has been part of the performance “Journey to hell” by the theatre group “Metheor.”

Mira Kalanova Mira Kalanova studied at the National Academy of Art and since her graduation, her work has been related to some of the most interesting performances in Bulgaria. Marina Chervenkova graduated from the National Academy of Art in 2011 with a master’s degree in “Set and costume design for TV and Film.” Since 2007, she has been working as a set/costume designer in commercials, theatre and music videos, numerous short movie projects, part of which were selected at national and foreign festivals. In 2016, she worked as a props master on her first feature film “Smart Christmas.”

Antonia Popova Antonia Popova works in all aspects of scenography. Between 2002 and 2019, she designed more than 60 theatre and operatic productions in most theatres in Bulgaria and Macedonia. She has designed the Bulgarian participation in the EUROVISION song contest in 2007, 2008 and 2016. Antonia’s work in films includes the art direction of Bulgarian films such as “Benzine” and “Smart Christmas.” Also, she is a visual and special effects artist at Nu Image Bulgaria and Nu Boyana Film Studios. Antonia’s work has been presented in every PQ edition since 1999.

Ognyana Serafimova / curator Ognyana Serafimova graduated from the National Academy of Art and ever since her graduation project, “Tower of Babel” featured at PQ 2007, she has gained recognition for her work and it has lead to her invitation to curate the Bulgarian Pavilion at the 2019 Prague Quadrennial. Her work in the most prestigious theatres in Bulgaria, along with well-established and emerging directors, has brought her different theatre and art awards and nominations by the Artist Guild, Ministry of Culture, and others. Georgi Rafailov and Gergana Tileva are the founders of the studio. They use the latest digital technologies for computer-forming in their work.

Tsvetana Vekova was born into a family of painters and works mainly in the field of fresco, ceramics and painting. Tsvetana is author of decorative works for spatial layouts. Among her newer works in this area are maps and graphic drawings in the Varna Archeological Museum. Her work is also related to the activity of Yucca Art Gallery (Varna) where she is an artistic consultant. Emilyan Bonev / bee head masks Emiliyan Bonev is a young Bulgarian designer and a landscape architect, co-founder of the brand “EXIT.” He creates innovative products in the field of interior design, sports accessories, cinema, and stage props. His versatile talent and experimental style with new materials have lead him to innovative forms in his work. Martin Radoslavov is interested in working with different materials such as ceramics, glass and also paints. He has work as technical support for many events. At the moment Martin is doing his bachelor’s degree in the National Academy of Arts and he’s also working for “VeloBoost” as a consultant. Violeta Bankova / bee head masks Violeta Bankova is from Varna. She graduated from “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” University of Veliko Tarnovo with Fine arts. Her work in CONGLOMERATE is mainly connected with creating the masks for the VR headset.

Teodora Simova / design logo BG at PQ Teodora Simova is a graphic designer and founder of Studio for Visual Concepts and Design “Lunohod”. In 2016 she graduated from New Bulgarian University – master’s degree in “Design of electronic publications and web sites”. Its main activity Teodora to create a complete visual concept and identity for products in the field of culture and art - performances, festivals, exhibitions, etc. She has worked on projects by artists such as Yavor Gardev, Ivo Dimchev, Stefan A. Mira Petrova / graphic design and layout Mira Petrova graduated Scenography from the National Academy of Arts In 2009. Since then she’s been working in many countries around the world - Bulgaria, Wales, France, Monte Negro, Italy, Canada. She’s always been fascinated by the idea ot turning matter into a life object with kinethic qualities. Most recently she got to explore that notion in her colaborations with the director Vasil Duev in the projects “Birdy” and “The bold soprano”. Teodora Todorova / photographer Teodora Todorova studies Photography in the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Kr.Sarafov” in Sofia. Currently she is finishing her thesis exhibition for her bachelor degree. Teodora works as a freelance photographer and has experience in studio, theatre and event photography. She also has captured many birthday parties and proms. Teodora took part in the PUPPET FAIR 2018 in Sofia.
