CBCFINC.ORG/SCHOLARSHIPCELEBRATION
Welcome! This year’s fundraising event, held on June 24, 2021, at 7 PM-8 PM ET, will celebrate the success of the CBCF’s scholarship program and the indelible impact of donor contributions on emerging scholars and leaders. Offered in a fully virtual format, the event will consist of a 60-minute program complete with a keynote address, engaging entertainment and live networking opportunities across virtual sponsor breakout rooms. Named in honor of late Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones and her spouse, Mervyn L. Jones, this powerful, now virtual event raises financial support to deserving students across the country. Since 1988, the CBC Spouses Education Scholarship fund has provided more than $11 million in scholarships and educational support to African American college students nationwide. The Scholarship Celebration brings together motivated individuals and socially responsible corporations. Attendees have the opportunity to network with members of Congress, their spouses, celebrities and professionals— all of whom support the education scholarship fund. Each year, CBCF awards more than 300 scholarships to students who demonstrate leadership ability through exemplary community service and academic talent. As a key participant, you will help us elevate the importance of our scholarship program and enable CBCF to continue to provide much-needed access to higher education for students in need.

President's Message It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 28th Annual Mervyn L. & Stephanie Tubbs Jones Memorial Scholarship Celebration. Today is our opportunity to celebrate the impact of CBCF's scholarship program and you, our partners and friends, as we remove financial barriers to undergraduate and graduate education for deserving students across the country. Our Scholarship Celebration is our opportunity to find inspiration as well. The investment we make in securing resources to support and guide our emerging scholars and leaders from around the country is an immense source of pride and inspiration. The enduring legacy of our Scholarship Celebration’s namesakes inspires as well. Everything we do today highlights our dedication to providing resources to buttress our brightest students around our nation. So today, while you’re making an impact, take a moment to make find inspiration, too. Whether you find that inspiration from our Fireside Chat with Misty Copeland, from the smooth musical artistry from Eric Benét or simply from each other as fellow partners and friends, this unique event is your opportunity to learn, connect and feel energized as we continue to invest in our future. While we eagerly await the opportunity to meet in person and feel confident that the day is quickly approaching, we are proud to present this virtual celebration that supports our brilliant students. Again, we welcome you, appreciate you and thank you for the impact you continue to make by investing in the success of the next generation of community and corporate leaders. Sincerely,
Tonya Veasey CBCF President and CEO
