SUPER-PSYCHIC MENTAL EFFECTS

INTRODUCTION The popularity of my first book, "SUPERSENSITIVE FINGERTIPS", has convinced me that there is a universal demand for good, practical effects in Mental Magic, not only from professional Mentalists, whose very livelihood depends upon the exhibition of Super-Normal Phenomena, but from that vast army of amateurs, who find this type of presentation most effective in small, social gatherings. Because of the very intimate nature of mental problems, they are particularly well suited for impromptu occasions. Under such circumstances, they appear to be most convincingly genuine, and accompanied by a little dramatic by-play, they create a profound impression upon the intelligent audience. In the past, most of the really good material along Psychic lines has been termed "exclusive" and sold secretly to "the inner circle" of the fraternity at exorbitant prices, eventually to be bandied about in the form of illegible, and often inaccurate, carbon copies. It is, therefore, with a measure of pardonable pride that I present within the pages of this book, a few of my favorite Mental Mysteries at a price within the reach of all students of the Art. Such is the appeal and the fascination of Mental Magic.

THE GYPSY FORTUNE-TELLER (An Ideal Party Stunt)
How many times, while performing a few impromptu tricks at a house party or social occasion, have you been asked by one of the fair sex, "Can you tell fortunes?" Well, why not? If you wish to be popular with the ladies, just give this stunt a trial some time, and watch 'em gather around! They love it; and the men too, for that matter, though they never admit it. At any rate, it is good publicity. Should you happen to strike the truth, they always remember it and talk about you; if not, they forget about it anyway. So here we have the first stunt. THE EFFECT: Spectator writes any question he (or she) has in mind on a slip of paper, or a playing card. The deck is shuffled and inquirer cuts the cards, whereupon seventeen are laid out according to an Egyptian formula. From these, the performer interprets the past, present, and future, and in so doing, answers the very question the
sitter is thinking of! THE PRESENTATION: May be serious or humorous, depending upon the personality he is working with. A mixture of each
