A C C E S S O R I E S In 1885 the Henri Selmer Paris Company began manufacturing reeds and mouthpieces. Henri Selmer, himself a clarinetist, had been dissatisfied with the options available to him and set out to create a better alternative. Since then, Henri Selmer Paris mouthpieces have become the standard. In 2015, Henri Selmer Paris returned to its roots introducing a new line of saxophone reeds. Henri Selmer Paris accessories are the ideal choice for any level player, and offer something for every style of music.

Henri Selmer Paris clarinets offer exceptional sound, intonation and ergonomics. The breadth of the line of Bb and A clarinets, along with an exceptional offering of harmony instruments, means there is a Henri Selmer Paris clarinet that is right for you.

S A X O P H O N E S It was December 31, 1921 when the first Henri Selmer Paris saxophone was created – a “Series 1922” alto. In 1922, Henri Selmer Paris employed 50 artisans who made 30 saxophones per month. In 1929, the Henri Selmer Paris Company purchased the Adolphe Sax workshops, making Henri Selmer Paris the sole legatee of the saxophone concept. Ever since, Henri Selmer Paris has been at the leading edge of design, sound, and moving the saxophone into the mainstream of musical instruments. From the Balanced Action in 1936, to the Mark VI in 1954, to the Super Action 80 Series II in 1986, the Series III in the 1990s and the Reference line in the early 2000s, Henri Selmer Paris saxophones have always been the ones that students and professionals long to play due to their exceptional sound quality and excellent ergonomics.

Whether you are a student aspiring to be one of the great artists who have played Henri Selmer Paris saxophones over the years or a professional making his or her own name, Henri Selmer Paris has a saxophone that is right for you. 22

SE R I E S I I I The 1980s and 1990s saw a dramatic shift in the repertoire for saxophone. More Universities had saxophone as a major instrument, and the compositions grew increasingly demanding and difficult. The Series III was designed to help keep up with the demanding material. Offering a mini-rib construction the Series III responds very quickly. The C# vent key keeps high C# in tune so alternate fingerings are not needed to allow quick passages. A higher copper content in the brass keeps the Series III sounding warm while still being a lighter weight instrument. The Series III is an ideal saxophone for advancing student, professional player and works exceptionally well for demanding repertoire. All Series III saxophones include a high F# key, the soprano extends up to high G and the baritone down to low A. All the pads are leather and resonators are metal. All come with a lightweight backpack case – except the baritone which comes with a wheeled flight case – and a S80 C* mouthpiece.

Since it’s inception, the Series III line has taken those qualities to the greatest heights, and I always know I can rely on the Series III to have that richness and complexity of sound I desire.’’ — Tim McAllister 28

R E F E R E N C E 54 In the early 2000s the Henri Selmer Paris Company answered the call to manufacture horns with the sound qualities of the vintage models, but with updated ergonomics and the improved intonation and consistency of today’s models. The Reference 54 hearkens back to the Mark VI, with its longer bow and bell providing a deep sound and the high copper content in the brass making this horn sound very warm. Both the dark gold lacquer and the matte finish provide a vintage look, but the ergonomics are all modern with a great feel and excellent intonation. The Reference 54 models come with a high F# key, leather pads with metal resonators and a flight case. The mouthpiece is a S80 C*. With its warm tone, the Reference 54 makes a great horn for jazz and popular music, but it is also an excellent choice for the advancing student, ensemble play and classical work.

Finishes for the Reference 54 include dark gold and matte.

“The Reference saxophone, in my mind, is the culmination of everything that came before it. Darker and huskier than the Mark VI and more even throughout with flawless intonation. It is the best saxophone on the planet!!” Henri Selmer Paris Reference 54 saxophones are available in alto and tenor.
