On Thursday, the 26th February Nottingham’s Council House was filled with over a hundred guests and a host of organisations who attended to celebrate a Connected Nottingham, showcasing Nottingham’s cutting edge technology achievements. The evening, which marked the relaunch of the Connected Nottingham brand was welcomed by Jane Todd, Chief Executive of Nottingham City Council. Ian Kennedy, from Cisco who chaired the evening guided guests through a range of speakers from local leading edge technology projects including Game City, Nottingham Trent University, Biocity and Nottingham University Hospitals. Many other organisations showcased their good work including the Nottinghamshire Police, the e- learning team from Connexions, Nottingham’s Castle College, Axis Centre and The National Video Game Archive who entertained guests with old gamming favourites as part of their Save the Video Game campaign. Next Generation Nottingham On the 24th March Connected Nottingham hosted the East Midlands leg of the Community Broadband Networks "yes we can" Next Generation Regional Roadshows. Over 70 delegates across the region came together in Nottingham’s Albert Hall to explore and discuss Next Generation Access (NGA). The event heard from a range of speakers from CBN, Communications Consumer Panel, Codeworks, AlcatelLucent, Adroit Economic, Gatesheads Council and Fibrespeed Wales, whilst Peter Goodwin from Accelerate Nottingham and Chris Ford, IT Director of Nottingham City Council provided a local perspective with Nottingham 's latest fibre development Ultraband and developments of Nottingham 's public services shared network project. Join Connected Nottingham and find out more from the experts at NTU and GameCity and have a play during this interactive session being held in a high tech lab at Nottingham Trent University. This exciting workshop forms part of a week long series of events for One Nottingham’s 2030 vision Partnership Week, taking place from the 27 th April. Please join us in this half a day session to explore how citizens are behaving and how online communities are rivalling physical ones. Essential learning if we want to create a vision for 2030.
