A 3 DAY DEVOTIONAL FOR YOUR MISSION TRIP
DAY 1 — LOVE NEVER FAILS
LOVE NEVER FAILS
"Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away."
1 Corinthians 13:8
As you prepare for your international mission trip, it is important to remember that love is the foundation of all that you do. Love for God and love for others should be the driving force behind every action. The apostle Paul reminds us that even if we have the gift of prophecy, or the ability to speak in tongues, or a deep understanding of God's word, without love, it is all meaningless. Love is the one thing that will never fail.
As you prepare for your mission trip, ask God to fill your heart with love for those you will be serving, and for the country and culture, you will be visiting.
UNITY
"Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind."
Philippians 2:2
As you prepare for your international mission trip, it is vital to remember the importance of unity. You will be working with a team of people, all with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Strive for unity in your team, so that you can work together effectively and make a greater impact.
The apostle Paul reminds us that when we are of the same mind, having the same love, and are in full accord, we can experience true joy in our work. As you prepare for your mission trip, ask God to bring unity to your team and to give you the ability to work together with love and understanding.
BE PATIENT IN DOING GOOD
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."
Galatians 6:9
The work you will be doing may be challenging, and it may take time to see the impact of your efforts. Be aware that you are likely planting seeds that will be watered and nurtured after you have returned home. God was at work before your trip and He will faithfully continue that work after your mission trip.
The apostle Paul reminds us to not grow weary while doing good, and to trust that in due season, we will reap the rewards of our labor. As you prepare for your mission trip, ask God for the strength to persevere in the face of challenges, and to trust in his timing.
