The Olympic truce is the treaty that has prevented countries and individuals from fighting and quarrelling in order to maintain the unity of the people during the Olympics and Paralympics. Through the truce stronger bonds have been created between individuals and countries. The IOC uses the ideals of the Truce to promote peace in our world. During the Beijing Olympics in 2008, crime rate decreased, more money was earned by the economy through tourism and production of more goods on demand. Not only has the entertainment sector benefitted but people have also gained knowledge about other races, cultures and accepting the different traditions around the world. This shows how sport is beneficial to an economy; the Olympic truce is benefiting our current generation. Some British institutions give full importance to sport; they understand the impact and essence of sports and encourage teamwork between their people for a stronger and more attached world.
