2. Joining Instructions Your flight details Please check your arrival and departure details carefully in the Section 4 participants’ list at the end of this document. If there are any mistakes or you need to change the details, please contact Yuyu Wu (yuyu.wu@britishcouncil.org.tw) by e-mail.

Arriving in Taiwan You will arrive in Taiwan on Wednesday 25th November at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. BC staff will be available there as you enter the arrival hall from customs. She/he will hold a board marked “CC Expo” and will inform you of the types of transport pick-up service arranged for you. During any stops in your travel, there will be BC staff or LA representatives to help you get to next stop. Some of delegates joining Hualien will arrive on 24th November. BC staff will be there to assist you in transport arrangement as well. In the event of any unforeseen difficulties, please contact Yuyu Wu who will give you immediate assistance. Yuyu Wu

Visa Requirements for Entry to Taiwan Visitors to Taiwan must hold a passport of no less than six months validity unless otherwise stipulated by treaty or agreement. Visitors from Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, and U.K. will be eligible for visa-exempt entry to Taiwan R.O.C. where they can obtain a Visitor’s Visa for a period of 30 day upon arrival at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and the 30 days' duration of stay starts from the next day of arrival and is not extendable. Visitors from Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand must obtain a visa for Taiwan before arrival and should read the notes on the Procedures for Nationals of the Designated Countries Applying for Visitor Visas in the ROC included in the Bureau of Consular affairs site below. Such visitors will need to have a Taiwanese sponsor before being granted a visa. Laundry, mini-bar and telephone charges and so on are not included and bills should be settled directly with the hotel before you leave. Access to email and fax machines, etc. can be arranged by you in the Business Centre in the hotel. You should pay your own charges in this respect. Venue for the Expo On 26th and 27th Nov, activities will take place in Taipei City, Taipei County, Taichung City, Changhua, Tainan and Kaohsiung. On 28th and 29th Nov, activities will take place in Chientan Youth Activities Center and the Grand Hotel. Please refer to the programmes for more venues details.

Costs and Charges British Council will pay for your costs in Taiwan (not including some self-funded participants). You will be liable for any additional costs (internet connection, phone calls, laundry, etc.) to the hotel.

Temperature Autumn (late September to early December): From the end of September, the temperature begins to drop, although air conditioning is still frequently used. Short sleeves can be worn until December. The average temperature ranges from 15oC-28oC (64oF-82oF), humidity about 72%. We suggest that you bring a rain jacket.
