CCO BCBL Online Community User guide Log in Open cc.britishcouncil.org, and put in your user name and password (case sensitive) to log in. Click “Log in”, and the webpage will automatically direct you to the home page of “Better Community Better Life”.

Major functions You can use the following functions of CCO:

1. Get registered! Fill in the form as instructed. You’ll be registered after you submit the form, and you’ll be informed of your user name and password by email. 2. Talk to teachers! The BCBL forum has four sections waiting for your participation. 1) Start Connecting CCO is a platform of communication enabling you to get connected with schools all over the world participating the “Connecting Classrooms” project and offering you the opportunities of identifying partnership. Once you’re in the “Start Connecting” section, you can post a message about you and your school and look forward to schools abroad getting in contact with you for cooperation. 2) “BCBL Project Ideas In this section, you can write posts to share your challenges in the course of project delivery and the learning from running the project. You can also understand how other schools operate their projects by browsing other’s posts. 3) Project Q&A This section is the place to be if you have questions or confusions. Post your questions and the British Council will support you with the official response and information. You, as well as other schools reading your posts, will benefit from this. 4) Help Use the “Help” section to post your questions about how to use CCO or read others’ posts for answers. * If you hover the mouse over the names of the person who posts a message or the person who responses to a posted message, you’ll see their personal information popping up, including his/her name, *title, school, city and country. * If you wish to display large sized pictures or video clips, you’re suggested to upload such files onto other websites, and post the links to these files on CCO. You can go to http://cc.britishcouncil.org/about-bcbl and check the bottom half of the page for embedding large sized pictures and video clips.

BC Announcements


This section is where you can access all the official documents and announcements including the education pack, community action plan pack etc.

Cluster folders CCO gives you the space to upload important documents to the “Cluster folders” section where you can share these documents with your partner schools. * There are ten folders in the “Cluster folders” section designated for the ten area links (e.g. Shanghai Yangpu – Derbyshire). In addition, you can also upload files to your “Personal folder” where you can add or delete files at your wish (files uploaded to the area links’ folders can’t be deleted). 5. China chat room “China chat room” is where you can type and chat with any online participating schools of the “Better Community Better Life” project. Come to the chat room for some quick ideas-exchanging! * CCO has set up 10 chat rooms designated for the ten area links, as well as a public chat room for all users. * All users can track chatting records of their own or of others. Such records will be deleted by the system on a regular basis. 6. Translation engine At the moment English is the operating language of the CCO website. However, with the “google translate” function you can translate all the content in texts into Chinese by a simple click. Look for the drop-down list in the top right corner of the CCO’s home page, and choose “Chinese” to activate the translation engine. * The translation engine generates a translated version of the original texts which may have discrepancy in meaning, so please use the translated content as a reference only. You’re suggested and encouraged to use the website in English for the best results. 7. CCO blogs Set up your personal blog on CCO! You can upload your personal information, share your interests and hobbies with others, write blogs, start a project or simply make friends!

Customer’s Journey Please log on the CCO website as soon as possible to start your customer’s journey after receiving the user name and password by: 1. adding CCO to your favourite website 2. changing your password 3. updating your personal profile and uploading your profile picture 4. participating the forum discussions 5. writing blogs 6. having live chats with your colleagues abroad
