Have visited some places in the community, such as park, market, stores, swimming pool. 3. Have done some assignment about community to know the people in the family and around the community. Resources*: 1. The pictures of places in the community. 2. The posters or powerpoints that students have made.

Starter / Introduction Timing 40 minutes

Groupings Whole calss Students are divided into five groups

Activity Warm-up 1. Show students the pictures of places in the community. 2. Ask them if they have ever been to these places, and how they feel about these places Presentation 1. Show students the poster of community. 2. Teach key places words of the community, scuh as park, school, department store, convenience store, hospital, police station. Practice Drills 1. Have students repeat the key words after teacher with flash cards. 2. Practice in groups and individually. 3. Call up individuals and check their pronunciation. Activity--Charde 1. Devide students into two teams. 2. Have one student from each team come to the front. 3. Have that student do actions or describe a place in the community and others guess what is that place word. 4. If the answer is guessed rigth, that team can win one point. 5. If the answer is wrong, the other team can have the chance to win one point. 6. Two teams take turns doing this activity. Wrap-up 1. Review all the place words of community. 2. Have students prepare the materials about the topic--‘People & Community’, like pictures, interview questions, posters. Main activities*

(1) Where do you ususally go in the community? (2) What do you ususally do when you are free? (3) Do you like the community? Why? Why not? (4) What can we do for our community? Group Presentation 1. Have one from each group come to the front and share group members’expereinces. Wrap-up 1. Give students assignment. (1) Have groups pick up a topic to do research, discuss how to do it and how to present what they have researched. (2) Have groups write the work sharing chart and working schedule. (3) Have groups prepare a mini play as a oral presentation and make a poster as a written presetnation. 2. If students have any questions, they can contact teacher at any time. Plenary / Summary Timing 40 minutes Presention time for each group is about 5-7 minutes.
