Given his talent, it was no surprise when he turned professional aged just 16. Slam success
Agassi soon became one of the most feared players on the circuit. His breakthrough came when he won the 1992 Wimbledon tournament. He went on to win 57 singles tournament championships and eight Grand Slam events. Tough competition Agassi represented the United States at the 1996 Atlanta Gamesand was expected to cruise through to the final, yet he struggled in the early rounds. In the quarter finals he needed all his spirit to squeezepast Wayne Ferreira of South Africa in three exceptionally tight sets. A golden family In the final, Agassi found his form and beat Sergi Bruguera of Spain 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 to add Olympic gold to his spectacular CV.
