In short, what did you learn from this lesson?
CCOC Students’ Feedback (unrevised) From this activity, I learned a lot about Yonghe. On the Web, I found: Yonghe is a cultural city. In the community, I found: a smile can give people power. Faceto people isn’t easy; I have to give myself more courage and confidence. (By Shu-Wen Xu) By doing this activity, I learn how to talk with strangers; by collecting information, I learn a lot of cultures of Yonghe. Moreover, this activity let me really care about this community-----Yonghe, and the people around us. I believe that this activity can make Yonghe be a better community, and give people in Yonghe a better life! (By Wei Li) When I first hear that we need to take pictures with strangers, I felt a little shy. In the beginning, I couldn't speak very well. My hands were shaking with nervous. I knew this chance will not come back. "Relax!" I talk to myself. And I saw many smiles on different faces and I was very happy, although someone said no to us. A smile let people and people get closer to each other. (By Sara Chen) It was a fun activity and it meant a lot to me. At first, I thought it would be odd to talk to strangers and ask for smiles. But then, I found out that many people were very nice, and I wasn't nervous to talk to them. I improved my courage and got happy myself by seeing all those beautiful smiles. (By Xin-Yun Tang) I’m happy to take part in this project. By doing this lesson, I can understand more about the community where I live. In the part “collecting smiles of people”, I have a lot of emotion, and it let me know that a smile can bring so much warmth. I get many valuable experiences that I didn’t learn before. I will always remember these harvests from this project. (By Man-Lin Huang) Making this report brings me more than I expect. Although it is tiring, it is worth doing this. To me, the experience to collect smiles is very special. At first, we were shy because our teacher asked us to collect smiles from people on streets, but we gradually felt at ease. We explained our plan and invited many people to take pictures with us. Whether people wanted to cooperate or not, we joined an unforgettable journey. This activity let me experience “the power” of a simple smile. This smile gives warmth to the people around us. Finally, the place in the competition we care about all the time is not so important. Now we care more about every processin it. (By Janet wu)

Sitting on the Chuan-Duan Bridge at late night
By Meng-Tieh Chou
The whole deep silence
Is smashed into bits and pieces by the hustle and bustle of cars with gasping and roaring
---
While the waves still flowing peacefully (
)
Smilingly, the time god is rippling through with oars
So deep dark he is that I can’t recognize his true face
The light across the bank seem to be his tired, ironic eyes
" ?
What am I? ?"
What’s the difference between me and the foam under the bridge? "
"
Someday, somebody, tired out through an exhausted day sat here alone silently ?
?
Oh, who would be the witness? No one but the speechlessriver?
And someday the bridge will tell
Drifting gently, the water will never care the weeping of the bridge.

(Heartbeat of Taiwan) Lyric: Wenshen Fan Composer: Michael Lin ~~ *

Make a Wish ~ That ivy climbing on to the rusty fire hydrant Like a butterfly that cannot leave a place with the smell of flowers
Quiet alleyway, with a cup of Yong He soy milk I am tasting slowly the contented hometown Neon bulb lights up imagination about the night market Children playing hide-and-seek and finding their favorite sweets Pale yellow sunset (shines on) the old walls of Lung Shan Temple * I devoutly light an incense with a pillar of hope in my hands A little less scar, a little more applause A little less warfare, a little more innocence Determine with the spirit of baseball and shed sweat to feel the youth Listen with all your heart to the Heartbeat of Taiwan Waiting for harvest on the Chianan Plain All over with the color of bliss Pingdong bluefin tuna equals happiness The sweeping Danshui River Taroko Gorge is the steepest We have cheerful personalities How do you fold a paper umbrella of Meinung How do you curve out a piece of Sanyi wood sculpture There are many many choices on this land Look carefully at the unique makeup of the Eight Generals I say dear, my dear Our storytelling pauseshere
** A little less hatred, a little more of us A little less coldness, a little more gentle warmth Use cursive to write Cloud Gate Use (Yanshui) firecrackers to build a city Eternal Mazu, supported by generations of faithfulness Sky lanterns raising slowly If you can make a wish, then, don’t wait.
